I went from a regular peep design to a hamskea raptor and it had worked out for me. Love it so far

I really like my hamskea insight peep and to deal with any string twist the best thing i have found is using a monkey tail or other similar vibration reducer inserted above the peep so can slide it up or down to align the peep without needing a bow press.

I tried a lot of peeps and came back to where i started for 3D and hunting: the humble Tru Glo Centra/Apex Gear Posi peeps in 3/16. The hole isn't drilled straight thru the peep, but convex. This means even with several degrees of peep rotation you always see a round hole. Nice matte anodizing reduces glare, no sharp edges to damage the string and due to its light weight it gives me plus 4 fps compared to the Hamskea raptor peep the same size. I once had a strand damaged in my bowstring during a 3 D tournament, resulting in some peep rotation. No problem with the Tru Glo peep, i kept on shooting and finished second place.

I to have the the hamskea peep and absolutely love the tunnel effect seems to me there is less glare.But a man of your caliber should be able to keep any peep sight straight 🤷‍♂️

I just bought a new bow and they talked me into the hamskea peep. I wasn’t a huge fan but so far I haven’t had any string twist. I am mostly concerned about losing light when hunting. I will try it for now but I agree with the points you were making.

Please do a nock on on string maintenance, from the day you first string to end of life. How to maintain your string, what are the signals of wear and tear, your opinions on how long a string can last based on usage

This is sound advice except for those of us who are aging and must use a verifier in our peep to clean the pins up. Then you are primarily looking at Specialty Archery or Hamskea. Also if you prefer to use a clarifier with a scope or magnification lense again you are primarily looking at the same two companies.

I made a pip site myself out of an aluminum tube, it wasn't so easy to do it. It is necessary to cut the tube at an angle and fix it so that the axis coincides with the view. The result is a pip with a lower weight than the factory one, and the weight affects the speed.

I keep it simple but I certainly have a home Archery shop for my bows to perform at peak performance.

I had a Hamskea raptor and could not keep it from twisting. Tied it in 3 diff times trying to get it to work. Messed with it for close to 4 weeks before I finally bailed on it. Love the concept but couldn’t dial it in

Makes sense ive met people who give up because of peep twist, I have tried most peeps I found the specialty podium peep great for all round but I alway fix my peep twist or move my dloop a touch, I wonder if a bigger or smaller apertures would help or make it worse.

I agree with what you say, but in my case, as in many others, where I don't have good regular vision, I had to adopt a peep with clarifier otherwise I couldn't see anything well anymore

Went to a total peep and found it way easier to keep my sight housing centered at longer distances. 🤷‍♂️

So what would your 3d setup choice be? 4x lens with no clarifier? If you had to run a clarifier what peep are you gonna use?

Never had a single issue with my Hamskea peep.

I don't use a peep sight I can't stand them I got rid of it several years ago then a year later retrained myself to shoot both eyes open I have a solid anchor no nose or kisser button either 40 years experience I shoot better without a peep I have pictures to prove it I shoot unbelievable for no peep just saying.

Thats not really true with the hamskea raptor peep. It tapers down to a thin circle in the center of the peep. basically 2 cones facing each other. so that circle can be like 15 degrees left or right and still have a clean circle to line up. Conventional peeps have the same size hole all the way threw and are more suseptible to string twist do to the thickness of the actual inner hole. Buy a raptor peep and give it a look. I feel theres a good chance you may update this video after.

Absolutely disliked the new Hamskea for the exact reasons you mentioned. Went to a std peep and not looking back.
