Yoo YoungJin, who sings the studio recorded version of "Tell Me (What is Love)" with D.O., is an SM singer, songwriter and main producer. He was one of the first few artists signed under SM way back in the early '90s and he is still working with SM today. Yoo YoungJin is one of the reasons why SM is known as a vocal powerhouse company, because he has been a vocal coach for a lot of SM's artists. He is the vocal coach who helped train D.O. to be the amazing singer that you hear today. He is the one who wrote and produced EXO's pre-debut songs "History" and "What is Love," which, now that you have heard "(Tell Me) What is Love," I am sure you can hear his influence on several of EXO's songs. D.O. and aespa's Winter are his most prized students, and they have even been nicknamed Yoo YoungJin's son and daughter because they have such similar vocal styles and abilities. Yoo YoungJin has produced or collaborated on a large majority of SM's songs, and he is the one that is most often credited with coming up with the most iconic parts of SM's songs. For example, he is the one who does the ad libs and high notes in the background of Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry Answer" MV, and he is the one you hear harmonizing with Taeyeon in Girls' Generation's song "The Boys," etc. (Back in the day, his vocals and/or ad libs were used in a lot of SM's songs.) If you look up Yoo YoungJin, you would be surprised how many of SM's songs he has been involved in over the years, even still today. If you made a list, it would probably be easier to list the songs he didn't work on. LOL Yes, Chen sings in the live version of "What is Love" because if you watch the Mandarin version of the MV, you will see that Chen and Luhan are the ones who sing the Mandarin version -- they are the main vocalists of EXO-M (Baekhyun and D.O. were the main vocalists of EXO-K when they promoted as separate groups). And being that Baekhyun, D.O. and Chen are the main vocalists of EXO, they all participate in the live performances of the song.

Real talk…D.O. brought me to EXO. Chen and Baek have amazing voices. For me, D.O. adds the flavor to their songs and elevates it to a whole other level. This is their magic as a group which made me not just a D.O. fan but an EXO fan. Glad more people are finding them!

I grew up listening to artists like Boyz II Men, K-Ci & JoJo, Toni Braxton, Destiny's Child and even Bee Gees and Air Supply so I was starving from good music until artists like John Legend came along. I didn't think I would find similar music coming from Kpop until I stumbled upon EXO. There's no turning back for me. EXO isn't kpop for me, EXO is music that'll last me a lifetime. EXO will not just be a phase, I know it's something I'll listen 20 yrs from now just like the songs I'm still listening to when I was growing up in the 90s.

If you want some more r&b you need to listen to Baekhyun's 1) Bambi 2) All I Got and 3) Cry For Love EXO live vocals really hit different. YOU MUST WATCH EXO ACOUSTIC MEDLEY (the version which has the song "What If" too)

In exo only baekhyun can do rifs and runs like D.O although D.O is more clear, fast, precise and consistent with RnB as it's his genre, D.O is a natural RnB singer but at certain times baekhyun can match him as you already know baekhyun practice a lot on his vocalization and tests his own voice a lot.

Nobody is singing like this anymore in the west as a group just solo artists here and there. EXO is singing for them draws. D.O. is giving Kenny Greene with riff and runs. We have a limited amount of true vocalists in the R&B industry. EXO is a bunch a Ninjas.... Blackity Black Black Black... Best vocal male groups at SM going by year of debut Super Junior, Shinee and EXO. Going by the vocal ranking of the individual members (by Korean experts) together EXO does have the best vocal line in Kpop and SM. Next in SM are Super Junior then Shinee. EXO has 3 exceptional vocalists. Although I think they need to continue updating ranks ... All our members improved a lot in singing. For example experts started updating Baekhyun's rank after his solo releases putting him higher as they clearly underestimated him! He simply couldn't show his actual range, full technique and versatility on EXO songs. Same w Chen and Kyungsoo but also Suho and the other members...
