Oh My Gosh!!!!! that "bendable " flew liner is NOT for a venting of a chimney. In America that "Aluminium" flexing tube is ONLY used for venting a Dryer lint vent. I can not believe you did not have a Chimney fire. NEVER use that flexible tubing for venting a chimney. but I do love your videos.

Also came to the comments the say that flexible duct is aluminum, not stainless steel like Michael was told by the sales people. Like you mentioned, the holes in the duct are likely due to the coal smoke & rain reacting with the aluminum.
@user-vb6gl6nf7c23 күн бұрын
@@shell1951 I’m sure that’s what they were told. I’m not sure they were told by someone who actually knows. I don’t know if France allows that product to be used that way interchangeably, where America does not. It’s a good thing to know if a person is renovating a historic property anywhere. I would never have known that, and the consequences could have been fatal. As it is, all that aluminum dust from the dryer pipe went somewhere. Who knows where it blew to around on the property… 😮

Another advantage of the insulated flue is the combustion gasses stay hotter. This means less creosote will adhere to the inside than in a single-walled flue.

Maybe if Nick is away and you are helping out at Basmaignee you could borrow that scaffolding for your project Ryan much safer than the ladders you currently have. Take home some of those joists whatever Billy isn't using. That is a crap flue product send it back and make them replace if this is what they said on warranty Michael surely they will refund and use that to pay yourself back for this new one. You can always give the new one if they don't refund you and Billy or Sadie can use it for their dryer/washer. I doubt very much Michael you will be older and laughing still in 20 yrs time with a new partner if you don't already someone who will look after you for a change :) I am glad Ryan is giving you a hand there not an easy job. Wonderful that your Grandad (Michael's) keeps things important like chimney top ;) Good learning experience for you Ryan :)

That aluminum dryer pipe is not good for much of anything, anymore, with the possible exception of an art project. Shooting practice. Whatever…
@steendful23 күн бұрын
I've never heard of using a flex pipe. Here in Nova Scotia Canada, we never use it because it's not safe/durable enough with the high heat. We go straight up through the roof/chimney or go straight out through the wall at stove level with celcirc going straight up the outside wall. We use thick black solid pipe to attach stove to celcirc. Eager to see the end product .cherrs ❤️🇨🇦
@johnoneill581223 күн бұрын
I was going to make a similar comment. That flexi pipe did not look much more robust than the pipe on my dryer and nothing like what we used in New Brunswick where I grew up.

Pretty sure he got sold the wrong stuff the first time, that is definitely dryer vent tube. Yikes!
@user-vb6gl6nf7c23 күн бұрын
@@stephjezo6470 If someone recommended that bad pipe, then I hope Michael takes that pipe back to the store where he got it and points out to the manager how dangerous that was. If Michael just thought that this pipe would do OK and he just didn’t know himself, then, lesson learned, thankfully, without tragic consequences. If anyone had died there and an investigation was done, they might’ve found out that it was carbon monoxide, and looked for the source. If Michael wants to know how much aluminum he inhaled, a Quicksilver Heavy Metal TriTest can measure body burden and detox can be done before aluminum does further damage. Personal experience would indicate not to mess with heavy metals because the effects will be cumulative. If France isn’t using it, they should. If France allows it, you can probably do it retail, like we can in America by having a Lab do the blood test and take the other two samples personally, before sending it back. DAMS (Dental Amalgam Mercury Solutions) amalgam.org, free eNewsletters, multiple free copies of back newsletters available on request. Founder, Leo, is active in medical justice worldwide, and is in contact with all kinds of independent researchers and natural health care providers, worldwide. Into facts, not theories, and they cite sources. They cover pretty much any health issue, nowadays, with contacts in Europe: EMF, water quality, dental materials, covid, and more. Odd question? Ask and they’ll look into it. They are also stellar people who have been doing health justice work worldwide for decades. I have personally worked with Leo off and on for over 20 years on health justice issues. When I learn odd pieces of information, I can share them with him, and he looks into it. He knows the guy who invented the Quicksilver Heavy Metal TriTest, which is also available retail in America, now, if you want to have a lab do only one of the three tests and send the other two of your own samples in, yourself. Leo also knows how to interpret the test results, which is how I found out that my second doctor in this area wasn’t doing his job right. The first doctor did the test the right way, and read it the right way. The second doctor did not read the results correctly according to the website info, because he’s consistently refused to read the website results interpretation info, so he continues to maintain those mistakes. Leo confirmed this, since he also read the website test directions. We’ll see how that turns out. You have options…!

Absolutely amazing that they are still using coal for heating and hot water in this day and age. Perhaps once Billy and Gwen are able to afford a good sized solar system and battery storage, the estate can power itself for free minus the greenhouse gas emissions and ongoing outlays for energy.
