How to start your day right? What do we all do in the morning? Jump out of bed because we slept through our 5 alarms, watch some TV as the coffee’s brewing, grab a bagel, and run out the door. But some of the most common morning habits are actually really bad for you!
For example, when you open your messages before you've even washed your face, you mess up your priorities. You concentrate on that stack of tasks that have accumulated in your inbox. And your attention switches from really important morning activities, such as having a meal or taking a shower, to work responsibilities. Attend to your personal needs first and only then pay attention to your other tasks.

SUMMARY:
- The thing is that when you wake up, your body starts to produce a lot of cortisol on its own. Cortisol is the hormone that keeps you alert. Thus, you don't really need any additional substances to fight sleepiness.
- It might be hard to drag yourself out of bed in the morning, but that snooze button only makes the problem worse. First of all, hitting "Snooze" usually leads to a feeling of guilt and stress. Secondly, it makes you feel more tired than if you just get up immediately.
- Checking social media actually stresses your body out. Your brain is still slowly awakening from its slumber when you start bombarding it with too much information.
- You've probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Don't take this phrase lightly. Breakfast helps jumpstart your metabolism and provides you with a boost of energy that gets you through the day. But a cup of coffee and a bagel won’t cut it!
- Lots of people reach for the remote right after they open their eyes in the morning. If you're one of them, here’s yet another habit you should break, especially if you prefer news channels.
- People often believe that it's better to wake up and get ready for a new day in the dark. They think that this will give their eyes time to adjust. In fact, a much better idea is to let natural light into your room as soon as you open your eyes.
- What could be better than a good stretch in the morning? According to health and wellness coach Jeffrey Siegel, this may not be the best course of action. It’s pretty dangerous and can lead to injury.
- Leaving your bed unmade makes a huge difference! This way, all the nasty stuff that has gathered on your sheets gets exposed to light and fresh air. As a result, your mattress and sheets get much-needed ventilation to dry out.

Let me see...I have coffee when I get up, I don't eat a proper breakfast, I stretch, I make my bed to early, I look at my subscriptions on KZfaq too early, I hit the snooze button at least once. The only one I do right is open the curtains...Least I got one! 😁

Thank you for pointing out how disgusting it is to make your bed in the morning, allowing bacteria & mites to grow in all that sweat! I’ve always thrown my bedding open in the morning to allow it to dry & air out during the day. In my native Germany, it used to be customary to hang bedding out the window for a while each morning to allow sunshine & fresh air to do their job.

I never make my bed upon waking up, the bed sheets need time to dry from the sweat. Everyone sweats a little bit over night. It's good to let the bed Breathe before you cover it with comforter/ blankets etc.

I wake up early, make myself a cup of tea, get back into bed and read my bible. Then my day starts. I ditched the alarm clocks too. 2 things that I would struggle to change is making my bed and stretching xD

The last thing is not good. And the day I have to have a bed unfolded? After all, normal people wash and change sheets, sometimes they air it. I think that's enough. I believe that it is through the unmade bed that a man wants to sleep more. I can not imagine not improve and do not make the bed. When it is nice and covered, I feel better right away in the morning.

Thank you for reminding me about the joys of sharing a bed teaming with dust mites. I vacuum my mattress, steam it, use a mattress cover, so psychology I'm hoping this problem has at least been reduced! It makes people paranoid.

It makes sense because the bed is unmade in the morning allowing sheets to dry out, and the bed is made later in the day instead if it must be done. I only do it a bit just before going to bed, so my sheets/blankets aren't just balled up lol, but I might just start hanging them up or something.

I know I'm late and everything but I can't help but make my bed in the morning!! Often, on weekends, I am too lazy too so I get up and get breakfast and then maybe a few hours later, or like one, I will go and make it. On school days when I get up I usually make it after I do my personal needs. I am very organized, so making my bed is crucial to my morning routine.

if you had this video released 3 days ago i wouldn't have overstretched my neck in the morning. it's painful to rotate my head because of that. doctor said i was lucky and never to do that again; there are many important nerves/blood vessels passing trough your spine so you wouldn't want to get it damaged by overstretching/overflexing it

morning coffee is a must for me, in my line of duty i must use my short term memory a lot so I need to be able to concentrate and remember things quickly and continuously.. can't do it without coffee

I don't know what is this hysteria with making your bed first thing in the morning. Everyone is very proud of doing it and using every chance to tell you how it makes them feel better about themselves. This is some phrase everyone uses, seems to be very trendy, ha, ha. I never make my bed after I wake up and always let it air, but this is common sence to me and I have always done it. , way before the days of you tube and the Bright side 😁😁😁

Totally guilty of the Tv, no news but tv shows like Arrowverse. Which can still bombard you with feelings etc that can change a mood etc. Not giving up coffee though or making my bed when I get up. To me it is like the snooze: deciding you are not doing somehing you set out to do. It signals to me get up and don’t get back into it again. Though on a day off I might skip making my ned.

well i usually end up checking my phone once i get on the buss but sometimes it to listen to music or other times yeah social media.

I always go on my phone,tv or iPad in the morning. Have a cup of steaming hot coffee. And even keeping my curtains closed. Brightside teach me more. 🤭

one thing i do in the morning is set my alarm for 5:00 but i actually have to get up to turn it off and then i set another alarm for about 15 min and after that no expections that is when i get up no mater what. but again my alarm is not next to me as i said i have to actually get up and turn off it lol.

I try to get out bed the first time my alarm go off the rush to the rush and wash up and come back in room and make up my bed.

There is another simple thing you can do, instead of not making the bed. Just change your bed sheets regularly...
