Day 2 for me. It's terrible. Watery stools. I have to live close to the bathroom. How many days does this thing last?

Different people need different fat/protein ratios. If I eat butter I gain weight, if I stick to about 60/40 with only the fat in meat and eggs, I don't.

My personal experience is I eat a 1:1 ratio of fat and protein and I still have diarrhea 90 days in. I also go more now than I did eating junk. I also after the first 6 weeks stopped losing weight and maintained for a month almost to the ounce so I started counting calories and now I lose 2-3 pounds a week so unfortunately things don’t work out the same for everyone.

Were you having anything such as coffee, tea, any non-sugar sweeteners, magnesium supplements, or medications like metformin? All of these act as laxatives, and much more so when not eating a bunch of fiber. Also, for some reason people get told to use a ton of salt, or put a lot of salt in their water when going keto or carnivore, which I do not think you need to do. This can also act as a laxative. But if you aren't doing any of those things and you're still getting loose stools, then your body just doesn't want that much fat and it's fine. However there is something called overflow diarrhea where you get semi-blocked up and the liquid stool passes around that to give you watery diarrhea most of the time and then every now and then you get a hard boulder that comes out very difficultly and then you go back to watery diarrhea. If that happens then you need a lot more fat and this will all level out. As to losing weight and how much you eat and counting what you're eating it really just depends on what your goals are. If your goal is simply to lose weight, yes you can limit what you're eating and lose weight but this also lowers your metabolism and later on you can regain that weight. But it's also true that when you are exercising you put on lean body massages muscle and bone very easily on a carnivore diet, and this offsets the weight that you lose. So it's more about health and body composition rather than the weight on the scale. I lost 23 lb in the first 10 days but then I stayed the exact same weight, down to the pound, for several months after that. Every single morning I was 243 lb on the nose, there wasn't a single day that it was 2:44 or 242, it was 2:43 every single day and that was because I was working out and replacing the fat I was losing with muscle I was gaining. So I wasn't worried about the scale, because I could see and feel my body getting stronger, leaner, and more muscular. So keep that in mind as well. There is the further issue with hormonal disruption, such as leptin insensitivity. Leptin is a satiety hormone and if that's very elevated it will disrupt your satiety signals. But this comes down eventually and this can definitely change your hunger signals and you may indeed lose weight quicker than. However the rule of just listening to your body works to give you optimal nutrition and health, not necessarily the quickest weight loss possible. It's about establishing long-term eating habits that are healthy and can be maintained. Having a healthy relationship with food, listening to your body, and taking that forward throughout the years. Eventually your leptin will come down to normal and that habit of just eating fatty meat until it stops tasting good will serve you in perpetuity. But whatever way that you found to improve your health the most, please keep doing it. As long as you're eating what is healthiest for us, fatty meat, and avoiding all the other things that cause harm you're going to be doing a lot better then you were before.

@@petekapinos585 .75 pound of ribeye, 1 half pound of 72/23 ground beef 3 hard boiled eggs and 6 pieces of deli meat equals about 70%fat and 30%protien and a couple slivers of butter

Just remember to ease into it, precisely because of Bile production. The Gall Bladder needs 12-48 hours ( if i remember correctly) to produce the amount of bile it needs in comparison to what you ate last. If Bile ends up in your Colon, it will cause diarrhea, thats just a protective mechanism. But that is only the case when you suddenly increase or decrease the amounts of Fat in your diet from one day to the next. Steadily increase the amount of Meat you eat, while steadily decreasing everything else. Dont forget to eat some organ meat and also keep hydrated and use salt. Without the Carbs, the body cant hold as much water at first, which means youll be alot more thirsty at first, and youll have to pee quite a bit since the water doesnt get stored in your muscles as much anymore. That will change over time as your body switches to using BHB´s as its prime fuel source, it acts like a gentler version of glucose. When that happens and everything stabilizes, then you finally made it.

I just had cholesterol work done every thing was fine except my hdl which was 38 mg/dl my doctor wanted to put me on a statin and he also had me get a CT calcium scan which came back today and the score was 0 so no statin. Now you are saying you don't have to count calories but a person like myself who lifts weights and requires a certain amount of protein how does that figure in, should I continue taking my protein requirements and blow off my carb intake. Thanks

i never have diarrhea or any health problems with this: 300 grams fat, 200 + grams protein, 100 grams carbs. I’m athletic and strong

In that case you just need to split up your fatty meals throughout the day. You still need to get the amount of fat you're making bile for though, because your body needs it

@@kwayyy4114 No - 5 eggs its just breakfast and I prefer soft boiled eggs. Later I will eat any kind of meat (preferably beef) + a bit of potatoes or rice. I don't eat veggies but some fruit before working out - banana, water melon or pineapple. Eat untill you full - listen to your body. Plenty carnivore videos to learn from 👍

My triglycerides went up to the roof on carnivore diet. And cholesterol now is 245. I am fit, active woman so the advice to move more isn't for me. Saturated fats DO RAISE the triglycerides. WHY none of the carnivore propagandists ever discuss this? Unless they are not knowledgeable on this subject so then that immediately makes them not credible. I am not ok with clogging my arteries. High triglycerides are very alarming but these people only BRAG about the carnivore benefits and never discuss the potential DANGEROUS side effects. Also, my energy plummeted on carnivore. They bring up our ancestors but our ancestors didn't even have meat EVERY day, much more stuffing your body with it 2-3 times a day. The horrendous amounts of protein and saturated fats are not healthy. I went back on organic foods, lean meat, organic fruits, berries, fermented veggies, raw honey etc and my blood work is fantastic now and I have tons of energy.

Its different from person to person I definitely have way more energy now than I did before Im over a year in definitely have zero interest in eating carbohydrates again considering the amount of nagging pain I had prior to the diet change.

We need to know what you were actually eating, for how long, and how long it had been since your previous test. Consuming fats does NOT raise your triglycerides - that's solely caused by carbs. Pitting your testimony against 100s of anecdotes to the contrary of people whose triglycerides dropped dramatically on carnivore makes me think you're not giving us the full story.

@magadonian Saturated fats DO RAISE the triglycerides. About a third of human population doesn't process the saturated fats well. I went completely carnivore zero carbs. But WHEN I ate organic, whole carbs my blood work was fantastic, after a few months on carnivore my energy plummeted, the cholesterol went up and triglycerides up to the roof. With all my daily exercise routine and being fit, having such blood work results makes it apparent that this diet isn't for me

@anteandrovic Don't speak on the subject if you're not knowledgeable about it, you sound ignorant. Educate yourself before calling the FACTS anecdotes. Over a third of the population is sensitive to saturated fats. And the internet "doctors" should research this fact so they can at least warn people about the carnivore diet side effects
