@@nonyabigness honey a quick google search would've answered your question, but in case you can't do the search rn I did it because I got curious, I never played lottery but I'm a non-citizen and I was left thinking why would there be restrictions to non residents? After all we have to pay for the ticket like everybody else, but can't win?? Anyway basically all the results in my search says lotteries are not restricted to only citizens, but like everything else in America one has to be mindful of each state's laws, as restrictions can be different.

I learned this lesson but not by winning the lottery. I won a prize in middle school that included some money and a trophy. People who never spoke more than a few words to me started treating me like their bestie. It was so weird. When the novelty wore off it was back to being nearly invisible. I'd imagine it'd be much worse if I "won" the lottery.

We also don't have a tax on the Amount won. If you invest it and then make money - then you have to pay taxes on the revenue. And most of the time you can have a lawyer organise an anonymous transfer of the money.

They kind of tell you things that will happen like you will get approached by people to invest your money or how to deal with people around you like your family and neighbors. In Spain, the tax on prizes is like 20%...

Yes! That happens in Spain too with Amancio Ortega (the owner of Inditex). From time to time he decides to gift a very expensive machine to some hospital and people go crazy, claming that he is such a good man... What they don't realisd is that if he payed his taxes in Spain, the amount of money the Government would get from him would be humongous! And with this money, the could do whatever is needed, not what he wants in that moment to do a great job of advertisement 🤷‍♀️

How do you measure how much money a country has? Genuine question. And how is taking away someone's possession in any way "democratic"? And in what way are they more powerful or influential than countries? Do they have armies? Fleet? APCs, hypersonic missiles, aircraft carriers, can they issue and enforrce their own laws, arrest and jail people without any consequences, commit genocides and start wars? Obviously their in no way comparable to an influence a country actually have, it's a league difference, you just haven't seen or met a country's full might.

Or just make voting mandatory :/ in my country it’s illegal not to vote so they make it as easy as possible. Most schools/ town halls/churches set up voting booths and give out free food and drinks. Voting is always on a Saturday and you can prepole up to a month before. Heck we even have a voting booth in Antarctica so the people working on the station can vote haha.

Because the US Government is greedy as Hell...if an American were to win the lottery in a foreign country they would still owe tax money to the US Government....heck their citizens living and working abroad still have to file taxes to their own government on top of what they are already paying in the countries they live in.

You’re literally wrong. They draw a number which is 1/N possibilities. You also draw X numbers each with 1/N odds of being the drawn value. The bigger your X the greater your odds are of any your X being equal to the 1 they draw of the N possibilities. 10 tickets bought is 10 times the chance of you winning.

There’s not a set number of tickets sold, but there is a set number of number combinations. So for example, imagine there were 10 slips of paper with numbers 1-10 written on each one. Any number of people can buy tickets for this lottery. If you buy 1 ticket with 1 number on it, you have a 1/10 chance of winning. If you bought 10 tickets, though, with one of each of the numbers, you would have a 100% chance of winning. However, the more people play, the more likely you are to share the prize. Finally, if you bought 9 tickets with the same number on it and that number is pulled, you will benefit if someone else also chosen as the winner with only 1 ticket. Definitely would consult a financial advisor but might lie about the amount...just in case.
