While owning a chainsaw is not a necessity for every man, there are several practical reasons why someone might consider having one in their possession, depending on their lifestyle and needs:
Wranglerstar's Recommended Firewood Tools:
Maul: amzn.to/3rjeEJk
Splitting AXE: amzn.to/3EIjGSO
Wedge: amzn.to/3LsnZpb
Pickaroon: amzn.to/3EMoeb0
Emergency Preparedness: A chainsaw can be crucial for clearing fallen trees and debris after storms or natural disasters, ensuring access to your property, and helping neighbors during emergencies.
Home Maintenance: If you have a sizable property with trees, a chainsaw can make tree trimming, pruning, and removal more manageable, saving you money on professional services.
DIY Projects: Chainsaws are versatile tools for various DIY projects, such as crafting wooden furniture, creating garden structures, or even building custom homes.
Firewood: If you use firewood for heating or cooking, a chainsaw allows you to process logs more efficiently, reducing the cost and effort of purchasing pre-cut firewood.
Landscaping: Landscaping enthusiasts can use a chainsaw for tasks like shaping bushes, cutting logs for decorative purposes, or maintaining large gardens.
Farm and Ranch Work: If you own a farm or ranch, a chainsaw is indispensable for tasks such as clearing land, cutting fence posts, and managing vegetation.
Outdoor Adventures: Chainsaws can be valuable tools for camping, hunting, and outdoor activities, aiding in firewood collection, shelter building, and trail maintenance.
Self-Sufficiency: Owning a chainsaw aligns with the principles of self-sufficiency and the ability to handle essential tasks independently, particularly in rural or off-grid settings.
Property Maintenance: A chainsaw is handy for maintaining your property, from clearing overgrown areas to cutting up fallen branches and debris after a windy day.
Community Support: Having a chainsaw can make you a valuable asset in your community, allowing you to assist neighbors and friends with tree-related issues and storm cleanup.
It's important to stress that using a chainsaw safely is paramount. Proper training, safety equipment (e.g., protective clothing, goggles, and hearing protection), and knowledge of the tool's maintenance and operation are essential for anyone considering owning and using a chainsaw. Additionally, check local regulations and restrictions on chainsaw use, which may apply in your area.

Might just be my East Coaster education, but in all the years I have been using chainsaws the fuel & oil rule has always been fill both when refueling. The one time someone else refueled my saw for me, they did not refill the oil and the bar sprocket failed. Always fill both at every refuel.

That's the way I learned and still do it. West Coast guys can get away with less because they have weenie straight grained soft woods that cut and split like wet tissues. Us East Coast real men have to deal with gnarly hardwoods that are tougher than my German mom.

Just a quick tidbit of information for anyone who might need it. If you run an electric saw for anything chaps will not do you any good. They run higher torque level to compensate for lower rpm, and no engine to bog down when the strings get wrapped in the sprocket.

Pretty good video. Liked my 066 modified by olives in Orofino ID. If your looking for some high grade mods call them. Turned up like those odd orange saws but had the grunt of a still. Try using the felling wedges to split the rounds. A short handle are works best. Some times have a have "stick" a hole with the axe to easi it on in there. But they split just as good. I own a bunch of mails, splitting axes. And metal wedges, but the plastic works better.
