Sometimes it’s easier to affirm God’s goodness at a general level than it is to genuinely trust that He cares for us as individuals. Fear and anxiety often make it harder to believe.
In this message from Mark 5: 25-34, David Platt points us to Jesus’s very personal concern for a woman who would have been viewed by the world as unworthy of His attention. We’re reminded of Christ’s compassion and mercy toward sinners like us. It’s His saving grace--not our own wisdom or power--that gives us hope and peace in every circumstance.

" cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength. Whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited." Jeremiah 17:5-6✝️ Amen. Brother, we are most insufficient in ourselves. Always was, is and will always be. Insufficient in ourselves, we need Jesus! "Some trust in chariots, some in horses but we will remember the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7✝️

Thank you so much, David Pratt. Much needed to hear this sermon. Thank you for sharing with us the truth about God's word during a time like this. We need Jesus right now more than ever. I also want to say, Thank you so much for addressing the Anti-Asian issue. You are the ONLY pastor I've seen that is well known and Caucasian that had spoken about this issue. This is so much to the Asian community. Thank you for seeing everyone as ONE and supporting EVERYONE. I pray God will continue to bless your church. I pray God will continue to use you for His glory.

Timely message. What damage the virus does to the body. But, David's crying and pleading I find disturbing questioning is that theatrical emotional? What is the purpose? Babies are less obnoxious. Can anyone help me with this? I cannot stand his groveling if that is the right adjective.

I can see you have already had a decent reply, but I felt moved to reply also. I think first of all, this is David's natural preaching style. I've been following him for nearly ten years. Second, as a performer and a teacher, I can tell you that when we really sink into the words we are saying and not "just reading" them, our natural emotion flows into those words and comes out in our expressions (that is the simplest way I can explain it). Finally, I used to feel the way you did when I watched people give their testimony's in class and church. I never understood people who seemed to be over emotional, until God brought me about to facing my own denials, sins and weaknesses that I had not been in touch with. It used to almost annoy me the way you are saying. But as my journey with the Lord deepened and I grew as a person, I found myself becoming the emotional person I once found ott. I had actually been blocking something within myself. There is no shame to be in touch with the emotions that are brought about from real encounters with the Holy Spirit when reading the Bible, listening to a song, speaking to others or facing yourself. What I am saying might not make sense to you now, as it would not have to me 12 years ago if someone had told me this then, but I feel one day, it will. :)

That was a good message, but I was very disappointed at the end. I thought that you had stopped praying or asking people to pray the sinners prayer. I recall when you went before the Baptist Convention speaking about baptism and the importance of baptism. So, I was disappointed that you did not mention that one must repent, turn from their sin and be baptized as was commanded by Jesus and exemplified throughout the Scriptures. As Francis Chan as spoke on many times...there is no sinners prayer in the Scriptures...it’s just not there.

This was a online service. I am sure it would be very different if he had people in the audience. It real easy to turn a video off when you mention salvation and repentance online to the unsaved. This was a great teaching of letting us know that we need to put our trust in Jesus. His plan is way better than our own. I am sure his team is working hard letting people know the importance of repentance and salvation when they are out serving the community.
