I think many people don't fully understand what really transpires between Pilate and Jesus here. While Pilate felt Jesus bore no guilt, he figured he would have Jesus scourged which would cause Jesus to recant who He claimed to be and save Himself. After Jesus is brutally scourged, Jesus maintains who He is, does not beg for His life, nor change His story. When Pilate tells Jesus he has the power to crucify Him or set Him free, Jesus responds with how Pilate would have no power if not given to him from above. This had to worry Pilate. No man before him would have maintained their position after such a brutal scourging and the threat of crucifixion. Pilate is so worried, he washes his hands to be free of Jesus condemnation.

See what he said when the Jews claimed in John 10 33 what they did, and what Jesus answered. If Jesus claimed to be God, why he did not agree with them? Who he claimed to be according to this passage? Maybe you want to see the passage starting at John 10 22. Take a look.

Mel Gibson's The Passion of Christ is still the Best Spiritual Movie for 19 years since it was first shown in movie theaters around the world depicting the more REALISTIC (true to life) and CRUEL BARBARIC way of CRUCIFYING a man through the Pagan Roman Soldiers with inserted FLASHBACK scenes for the people to recover from the horrors of the Sufferings of Christ, with brilliant editing, the superb casting of actors, great makeup artist, CGI technicians, crews/staffs and musical score ... Only a Director with such a Brave Heart can deliver this kind of movie... BRAVO!

Therefore, the official Christianity Sign/Mark should be the CROSS alone without Christ hanging on it... "Pagan Roman Soldiers " What else were they supposed to be? Christianity didn't exist yet and Judaism didn't evangelize and accept converts. This is what makes no sense about religion where salvation requires believing it. For centuries upon centuries cultures all over the world were not even aware Christianity existed, yet by no fault but geography people would be condemned to hell in that belief system.

The meaning of this passage is not that Jesus is God, if this is your interpretation, see John 17 3. There is two, the father and Jesus.

@@the_idics Keep reading John 14, there is more information that indicate that Jesus was not saying that he is God. There is an "and" in the utterance of Thomas in the English translation. The Jews believed that only the father is God, see Mark 12 28 34, the answer of the scribe, the answer of Jesus. The scribe did not believed that Jesus was God. About sacrifice, Psalms 40 6.

@@TurkeySmashR I made a direct answer to your claim. I did not thought necessarily to quote this verses. See the Greek, it is differently worded than this version. Kjv? Basically the glory preexisted in some way, the text does not say that Jesus preexisted as a conscious being with the glory. When the glory is manifested in this book? Really see the Greek, the Greek also does not have "was made", that I know.
