Hey everyone!! Today I’ll be testing out an eyeshadow palette dupe! The Natasha Denona Metropolis Palette was one of my favorites last fall, and now Alter Ego has created a dupe! Just bought my first ND palette with a bday gift card. Its just eye shadow. My Colourpop shadows are just as good. Not life changing at all. Don't sweat it girl! 🤗

GIGI 1 you would be surprised what you will do and I have started buying less palettes and use hers more also her stuff has at least 24 months before it says it goes bad

rachel Crawford that’s all palettes tho. At least most of them. Also in practice, no one actually stops using palettes after 1-2 yrs because it “expired”. People usually go by smell, feel, color, and performance more than the manufacturers expiration date. Personally I have the money but I’ve found excellent quality in less expensive high end brands like melt, ABH, kaleidos etc. so imo it’s unnecessary to drop almost $130 on one palette. If the color story ever appealed to me I would by her $65 or $25 ones tho. I like that she has variety.

Powder can last over two years it’s not like foundation or mascara. If you clean your brushes constantly and have good hygiene you won’t have any problems with bacteria

It's amazing how many dups there are for the super expensive pallettes out there. The quality is usually spot on, as well!

@@JasperisCasper looking at the ingredients list I doubt it. Artemis subs in dimethicone and artificial mica (the latter isn't a bad thing), but they do have similar primary ingredients.

How do the Alter Ego brushes compare to other high end ones? What would their dupe be?

The quality is not spot on. I beg to differ. Watch these pallets being compared in Glitzy Fritzy’s video with live searching comparisons and live look comparisons. With this dupe you have to apply A LOT more eyeshadow, to get even close to the OG Metropolis. You get a similar vibe but nowhere near the formula. Pigment costs money, so you get what you pay for, in my opinion.

JasperisCasper Sorry to disappoint but Natasha Denona and Pat McGrath are made in Italy. Good cheaper brands like Colourpop and good mid brands like KKW are made in California. Alter Ego is made in China. Many times, you get what you pay for.

I have wanted Metropolis since it launched, and I was this 🤏🏻 close to just saying “F it” and spending the money when I got the email from Alter Ego about the Artemis. I immediately ordered it because FATE. I’m beyond excited to get my hands on this!

I love how Tylan shaded Natasha- “the glitter is falling down” 😆 But THANK YOU for using the AE brush set in the video. I also ordered it with my Artemis palette and wanted to know how they work. Can you also do another look with the more neutral colors? Your eye look was stunning but I don’t think I can pull off the greens 😊

AMAAAZIIING OMG !!! These colors goes so well together and you definitely don’t see the difference from this far but that green in the outer corner is more pigmented in the ND palette for sure but other than that its pretty similar Im shocked !!! Love this - I still feel torn though when I see brands just blatantly rip off another brands palette. It must feel awful for the original brand owner when they put all the work and creativity into coming up with the palette shades and then someone else just sneaks in and copies them .... but then on the flip side.. I love how these copy brands can prove that the same products can be made for a fraction of the cost and makes the same look attainable to everyone. x

I totally get the torn feelings. Though, I personally don’t think it’s as big of a deal seeing how Natasha Denona is so expensive. If someone was willing to spend that much money I really don’t think the cheaper option would sway them. I think the ones buying this dupe wouldn’t be buying ND anyways. At the same point dupes are in everything. Even food at the grocery store. I think as long as they aren’t copying the packaging and the name 100% it’s fair game.

So, the brand owner isn't usually the one coming up with the ideas for the palette. And you can't really copyright a color. Well you could but realistically people would still use it cause that's ridiculous lol. Ultimately dupes are just providing a service for people to get the same look for less. The reason it's less is because they use cheaper materils. Ultimately what Alter ego did is fair game, they aren't passing their product off as a fake and they went as far as to make their own theme for the product.

Oh my goodness! This is such a great eye look for a wood nymph costume. This is my favourite pallet you’ve done, so far. I’m going to have to actually pick this Artemis one up!
