It was the fact the (on top of Rys being the black sheep of the friend group) he had almost no attention placed on him at all. Joe only suspects him for a minute and only because he’s doing that to everyone else. Rys wasn’t even at the mansion until the very end. I saw a theory that says Rhys is a figment of Joe's imagination (a la Fight Club) because Rhys always interacts with Joe, but never with anyone else. Basically, Rhys is a real person, but his relationship with Joe & the group is in his mind. That (plus the fact that he sees Rhys as "relatable") makes it an interesting possible plot twist.

‼️Yeah I totally agree! And no one has mentioned that because the series is heavily based on literature that each season follows a lot of the tropes of a certain genre of fiction and then subverts them. The first season is subversion of the romantic comedy novel, the second season idr a lot about honestly, but I think it was more psychological with Joe dealing with himself and his past, a psychological thriller subversion. The third season was a take on the stepford housewives suburbia where everything looks perfect on the outside but everyone has secrets. And this fourth season is about you know the Agatha Christie who dun it detective novel. So far. I have a feeling since the mystery is solved now the second part of the season is going to become a play on the cat-and-mouse genre. I personally love this season so far! I like how Joe realistically jumps through mental hoops and the true to life portrayal of cognitive dissonance. He really believes he's NOTHING like Rhys. When in reality Rhys is a better person than him. Joe harms women who he is obsessed with and manipulates their lives. Controls and hurts them and those who they care about. While Rhys is harming terrible people who use their wealth to hurt those less fortunate. So Rhys is morally a better person than Joe. But as in real life bad people never believe they are bad people. They justify their horrifying actions in their own minds and really believe they are the good guys. EDIT: I HATED the end of the season. But I wonder if next season is going to be like a play on The Wolf of Wall Street genre. Rich guy uses wealth to get away with crimes. Who knows but I really didn't like how Rhys was all in his head the whole time 😭

I felt like Joe finally had to take a sip of his own medicine and is forced to reflect his behaviour, but fails to do so which clearly shows he is incapable of changing. Also I thought it was really refreshing to see how jumpy he gets now being the one who is stalked, yet at the same time not even realising he's been basically showing the same sick behaviour all the time. Also, I really appreciated that his stalker apparently had a redemption arc, but it in the end it turns out he's just lied about it. Both are white men with a sense of false grandiosity, white knights, false saviours who cannot change a thing for the better, particularly because they're using violence. The stalker clearly mirrors Joe's behaviour and emphases that, no matter how he's lying to himself, is always gonna be a fake white knight and a psychopath. He might look like the sanest person compared to these rich sickos, but he's rotten to the core, too. Also, I liked the take on making this season's "You" not a love interest. I really enjoyed it tbh. But I can totally understand y'all and your position nevertheless.

With all my respect, this is the best comment ive seen so far. Everyone is missing the point of this season which brings a new perspective, such as Joe being mirrored by a person exactly like him, forcing him to feel as the victims he hurt. He plays the hero role because he wants to be better, denying his true nature at the same time. He cant accept he s a monster because he s scared of monsters himself. If u pay attention, Joe likes innocent, pure people. As soon as he discovers damage in people he idolized, he would feel repulsed and become cold, avoidant, sceptic, the way he became with Love once he knew she s like him, a predator.

Maybe this is a dumb basic storyline, but I actually would've liked this season to go back to the shows roots of having Joe obsess over a girl, have her have insane chemistry with him that we feel like we're rooting for them, but then have her be a cop or her sibling be a cop and ending up investigating him which leads to his eventual downfall and when all seems like it's going perfect for him, he falls, ends up in jail or dead, the end

I fail to see how. The show constantly repeats itself. Second season was just the first in that Joe gets a new obsession, Delilah is the non-white woman he has a short-lived relationship with, just like Kate/Karen, whatever her name was, and Jenna Ortega’s character just being a different take on Paco in that they’re both meant to humanize Joe and be the troubled kid for him to look out for. Heck, the guy abusing Paco’s mom and the guy that was targeting Delilah’s sister were the exact same character, role-wise. The white guy that's abusing or planning to abuse a non-white female character. The show then repeats itself again by doing the “who killed Delilah” story all over again. Only this time, it’s some guy in his apartment. Add on top the third season getting extremely liberal (tell me a story, don’t preach to me) and I found it pretty damn lame, to be honest. They use the same story in the first season and add little changes to it for the second and third. That’s not intelligent writing. That demonstrates a lack of creativity and a fear of taking risks. It's the same thing over and over, how is that a sign of great writing? And Beck was an idiot. She made herself way too easy to stalk. No curtains, not even when she has men over, didn’t lock her electronics, very easily manipulated by her friends. It was hard to believe. In my opinion, the show’s extremely stupid. I’ll never watch it again.

i haven't watched this season, but I really love this show. They show us some red flags from a perspective that we are not used to, like: how he always had a way to justify his actions; how Becky really wasn't "special" (she was "just" a person), it was just the pedestal he put her on, and when she "failed" to met it, he snaped; how he gets when the women don't follow the script he wrote in his head; how he narrates as "come on"s actions that are the most inocuos things; how guys like him fantasize but actually being with the person they idealize is a let down. I also liked how season two was a distorted season one. Like, the woman he obsessed is not naive, but a psycho, the kid he helps is not blinded by his help and hates him in the end instead of helping him, stuff like that (maybe cuz she had love in her life from her sis while pacco didnt? he only had joe). Because he will always be doing the same things, but the archetypes around him won't.

Crazy ex girlfriend literally makes a point against "you can be as creepy as you want as long as you're vaguely attractive" You watched 1 episode and stooped, but later in the show (spoiler alert ofc) Rebecca deals with her mental health issues, she has BPD, and she's depressed, and even tries to off herself. Her whole character is developed and judged because her actions WERE creepy and had consequences to her and those around her. The show tiptoes around this topic so well and has BANGER musical numbers, as well as other "love tropes" and even irl relationship things (the song Love Kernels is very important) So, basically, you're wrong for including it on that list and I 100% recommend that show.

Yeah I didn’t even get a minute into the video without having to stop and come down into the comments to say that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend 100% needs to be removed from the shit list at the beginning because it’s an incorrect assessment. I’ve never seen mental health so beautifully dealt with in a television medium before. I truly encourage you to watch more of it and reevaluate lol

CEG is easily one of the best shows to come out of network television in the last decade. It's also not difficult to see even in the first episode that it's deconstructing stereotypes and not leaning into them. I think Alex saw the title of the show and thought it would be good content to make fun of. Because of that, he wasn't actually able to take in the premise the show actually laid out for him.

@@GeekyNerdTheatre I haven't watched the show, but I think it makes sense that he might not be understanding. From what I gather, The comment "I have BPD and I relate to her" is very common whenever this show is mentioned. We live in a time where BPD is still stigmatised and where it is more popular to be judgmental towards people having it. People will say they would want to beat up Amber Heard for punching Johnny Depp. People are understanding of depression nowadays, but they are not so open for the conversation about BPD. I see more youtubers talking about it, but this might take some more time for people to deal with the stigma.

I feel like the expectation of You from the past 3 seasons has brought it up to such a high standard, so a whodunit doesn't meet that standard. Like we all expected more, and I really hope we get a complete turnaround.

Totally with you on the blinds/curtains thing! Mine are always closed and the doors are always locked and I live in the country where like 4 cars go by a day. If I lived in the city/apartment,you bet your ass I'd be paranoid about making sure nobody could see inside my place and I had like 12 locks on the door. Lol

Tbh I think Season 3 should’ve been a Bonnie and Clyde season, but maybe keep the first part so we can explain Joes mommy issues but then tap into Loves issues. But nooooo Love is worse than Joe somehow and needs to be killed and Joe gets away.🙄🙄🙄

@@matthewblake8485 Yeah I agree. My initial reasoning was Joe liked her as they kinda had like similar likes and interests. She allegedly dated the Mal guy (can’t really remember his name), and said he let her down (a motive for killing). The stalker at the time also called Kate a bitch, which in my head thought of course she wouldn’t like her because of the cheating. Also times like when she bent her head down in class to reach something, or left Joe’s room right after getting her letter were when she got the texts. Not to mention all the knowledge she knows about murder mysteries. I feel like she’s gonna have some bigger role because of Rhys book she recommend.

I'm here after finishing the 2nd part of Season 2. I think it's brilliant. Part 1 Is the boring predictable whodunit that it really was hitting every predictable plot murder point as clockwork. Now part 2 uses the world building of part 1 and COMPLETELY PULLED OFF A WHOLE 180 LIKE NO ONE SAW THIS ENDING COMING
