@@oumarroukia254 You are trying to get me trouble. 😁😉 I've seen other comments elsewhere decrying others appreciation of such a scene. But I do think it was done quite well without going over the top for such a huge and pivotal scene.

@@suspendeddisbelief786 haha really? Maybe they were loving the gore scene too much it could be uncomfortable for some people but it doesn't change that it was extremely well done filming and sound along with wu lei's acting everything was perfect imo! So poetry on those i for one, don't mind!

@@oumarroukia254 Exactly! My first thought when I saw the scene in the trailer was that it had a look or feel of old school kungfu movies. Very nostalgic for me as images flooded my mind so that's why I was looking forward to it. I loved the screen silhouette shots, him walking through the slain bodies, his loyal compadres hunched over their swords, but the overall cinematography was just spot on because it was raw and dark but not heavy, it was like a long exhale not a heavy sigh. They were smart in limiting what we saw and just made it more of an dramatic interlude to the love between the leads. All the editing made it complete by mixing in scenes of NN and her family coming to rescue him from himself (which sent my mind back to Gu City). They gave the whole sequence romance. My last thought after the cliff dive and the cut to NN being held back by the soldiers was "I would love to see this as an opera!!!" Then I promptly went back to being absolutely mad at him. There's still a grudge 🤣❤ The acting, dialogue, special effects, set design, makeup, costumes (love the red/black theme), stunts, sound effects, and music was an A for me. I personally adore a good revenge plot especially when they're seen all the way through but I abhor bringing innocent people along for the ride.

Yesss to everything you've said, thank you for such a detailed and beautiful review, this was a great read and while I was looking forward to the revenge scene i totally didn't expect it to look this amazing, i want to quote some of the description you've made im in love with the filming and my mind is attracted to the different sounds used from the moment LBY took the swords off his gait to the him almost falling down followed by his coming to senses after doing the deed! Particularly the scene where different cuts of him were used just before the solo clash between him and his uncle when he was injured and everybody else was down and he became a demon ready to pounce on his prey. Absolutely love everything to the hypnotizing moment he slashed through his uncle's throat while slowly saying his name, that was insane. And his stance right there!! I guess we will just never recover and will keep watching this masterpiece!! Huge thumbs up to the director fei, wulei and everybody else involved!!

Wu lei has a great sword movement! He learned how to use a sword and ride a horse when he was a teenager. He can swing that way easily and even harder. In 2018, Wu entered Beijing Film Academy, placing first on the entrance examination by using sword and even now it still didn't have anyone surpass his score.
