Was in Helsinki two month ago. Silence. She’s everywhere. Even kids cry really quietly. And this me, Russian girl with loud voice 🤦🏼♀️ I feel really uncomfortable (because of me, not finns). But I’m in love with that country. Thanks “CheapSleep” and one guy who gifted to me three days ticket (any transport), second guy who ordered taxi (couldn’t use uber, so I cried and he asked me maybe I need some help. It was too kind) when I lated to my bus and any beautiful (they all soooo beautiful!) finns for making my trip amazing.

Olga Panini да я вышла за полчаса до автобуса и думала доехать на трамвае. Но он остановился не доехав, наверное, двух километров, потому что ночью маршрут немного другой, а я этого не знала. И не добежишь уже, и не доедешь (оставалось меньше 10 минут). Подошёл финн, поговорил со мной, я попросила его заказать такси и стала его ждать. Он закричал: «Вот ваша машина!» (дело было перед светофором и машина притормозила). Наличие в ней пассажира меня не смутило и я попыталась ее открыть. Короче напугала бедных финнов 😂 даже в дорогущее такси попытается забраться плачущая русская. Приехал наш водитель, просит у меня 11 евро за поездку. В темноте и слезах не вижу, даю 5. Просит купюру побольше, даю вторую попавшуюся сотню и говорю «сдачи не надо, только довезите». Бедному финну пришлось искать сдачу, но несмотря на все он довёз до ворот (я увидела гейт и закричала, чтобы он остановил, но там было не войти и он лучше меня знал, куда ехать). Смутила его невероятно, но так же сильно ему (и тому парню) благодарна. Мы зашли и автобус сразу поехал. Просто какие-то невероятные люди

The sex thing is sort of true in Denmark too. I remember when we had American students living in our kollegiet and they were surprised by this. One of my flat mates told one of the American girls “why would she waste her time going on multiple dates to find out she isn’t sexually compatible or that the guy is just putting up a front to get in her pants anyway?” She said to her “if you get that out of the way then you can see if it’s going to work out.” Obviously not all Danes are sleeping with random people on the first encounter, but sex is not as taboo.

"Americans" (I say that in quotes as to not generalize, as there are exceptions obviously) love to do the whole dating multiple people at one time and nobody knows if they are exclusive, even though they are practically acting like significant others. My experience growing up in Europe and then going to university and working in the US, is that Europeans are pretty clear about whether or not you are exclusive or it is casual. A lot of the time, it's implied if you are seeing the person regularly that you are a couple, whereas in the US, this is not the case and you are left wondering where you stand. So like in my original comment about sex being less taboo, particularly in Scandinavia, I think our approach to relationships is more serious. Family and community structure is very important in our lives for example, it’s no joke that a lot of us are still friends with people we went to kindergarten with 😂.

What I learned from this video: Living in Finland is basically: hang out in Saunas, naked, with friends. Drink alkohol. Enjoy silence. Finland sounds like heaven to me tbh.

@H B Well, true... Finnic is really hard to learn tho. My father was also an immigrant and moved to Switzerland to find some work. Back then it was really easy to find work, but now since the Industry slowly is reaching its maximum - there's not that much work left (or to do) like back then. This effects especially craftsman, construction worker. However, somehow I think it's always easier for children of immigrants and every coming generation. Bc they learn a language much faster and adopt the culture and mentality much earlier.

Finnish guy here. This is pretty accurate for the mainstream folks. I can assure you that there are many more interesting local activities to do than to get wasted every weekend and do one night stands (if those aren't your thing). It's up to you to find those interesting people, hobbies, events etc.. When it comes to Finnish women I'm mainly attracted to those who have seen the world beyond Northern Europe at least a bit and have a curious nature towards the world around them and inside them.

I've recently returned from a 10-day trip to Finland and I gotta say, Finns are pretty reserved but when they're drunk, man do they get very open. Wholly different character. I've also noticed that many people (in public transportation, on the street etc) can get pretty loud. I had this vague idea of northern people talking on a low volume, but it's apparently untrue. Also!, very beautiful people. Like wow. I mean not everyone is ideally pretty, but I obviously have a thing for fair-skin/blond-hair people so they were all pretty to me.

I'm as a European who lives in Serbia proud that we have such a legend on our side even though it isn't as big as it used to be because their CEO Elop made a massive mistake choosing Windows operative OS instead of Android. That sauna thing happened to me. But when I finally got used to going into the sauna naked I got invited to a sauna with students of different nationalities, walked into the sauna naked and everyone else had bathing costumes on and laughed at me

Wow. Laughing at someone being naked in a sauna is a major faux pas in Finland. It destroys trust: you should be able to go enjoy sauna without somebody pulling that kind of shitty move on you. It is a strong unwritten rule that you shouldn't even acknowledge that people are being naked, let alone put you on the spot for that.

I hope to meet a Finnish 🇫🇮 woman one day. I enjoyed the video very much. I liked the Colombian 🇨🇴 part as it shows the contrasting personalities of a European woman and a Latina woman as one is more introverted and the other is more extroverted which is something I can relate to as I have dated both a European woman and dated Latina/Hispanic women although I have dated mostly Latinas/Hispanics. Funny story - after we finished filming the elevator scene we actually took an elevator and our Colombian actor started talking to a random person who came into the elevator and the Finnish actress said "I would never do talk to someone random like that." :)

@@johngonzalez4298 it is really bad when u talk about european girls like about 1 nation. Bulgarian Greek or Italian women in general aren't calm, quiet or introvert. Nordic women like Icland or Scandinavian are calm and introvert in general. Middle european - can be either into or extroverts ( again generally speaking). I don't know if u can say all latinas are extroverts , sre they all same, but u cant do it in europe. Same situation is in Asia- east asians- introverts, west asians- extroverts.

@@pietwarkawani9616 there are so many differences not only in the way people behave, in the traditions, the landscapes, in the food and general fashion. Starting with one is a Nordic country the other is in the middle south of Europe. Finnish people are way more reserved than French people for example and have a close relationship to nature as the land is mostly covered in forests. They are also very hardworking yet value family time and healthy education/working environment. In France there is more of a culture centered around food and leisure, and the education system is a disaster as it hasn't changed in more than 100 years. It can be quite elitist. Those are only a few examples but both countries have very little in common.

Is it just me or based on the couple videos I've seen from this series, that the Scandinavians have a casual, laid back, no rush hook-up culture? I've seen this theme in "Dating a Danish woman", "Dating a Icelandic woman", and now "Dating a Finnish woman". I'm seeing a trend here, kind of like how Latin cultures are very family oriented, for example. I know this series is called "Dating Beyond Borders", and you've done Canada, but for the sake of foreign viewers, I think you should do one for the United States, of what it's like to date an American guy and an American gal. I think it'd be interesting.

Yes - you are correct. Technically Icelanders and Finns are more Nordic than Scandinavian.. But they definitely have a very casual approach. And I'm going to start doing more American videos but I doing a "YKYD an American" is bound to cause some anger as it will be very general and quite stereotypical. So, instead I'll approach it by doing different regions. Ex. Dating a Texan etc

Individual states would be an interesting approach, and I would think the major generalization of the United States from foreigners probably would be the major cities- New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Washington DC, etc. I also think it'd be interesting to cover cultural regions of the United States- aka the Southwest, the Midwest, the South, the East Coast, West Coast areas in addition to individual states, like say Hawaii, Texas, New York, etc. As someone raised in the Midwest, I would be interested in the hearing what dating us is like, lol! Love your videos- keep up the great work! :)

I'm planning on a trip to Australia next winter (summer in Aus). Fly to Perth, chill out there for a while, take the Indian Pacific train across the continent, spend some time in Sydney and then travel up the East Coast and check out the cities and towns along the way, all the way to Cairns & Great Barrier Reef. It's a massive country, but I figured that wouldn't be too bad for the first time :) Cheers!

Actually Finns are pretty average drinkers statistically.. French, Brits, Germans etc consume more per head. But yes, in Finland girls can drink like men , if they so wish ,)

Yeah if you count how much most Europeans drink casually with meals and such we go to the moderate category. It's just that very often WHEN a Finn drinks it's to get drunk so that builds quite a tolerance

That thing about drink is the total opposite of how we do in Brazil When we're drinking with friends at the bar, the beer comes in a 600ml or 1lt bottle and we drink it in cups. If someone goes to get more beer, it is common for them to fill everyone's glasses at the table
