You MUST do this BEFORE Arriving in Japan | 2024
This is what You MUST do this BEFORE Arriving in Japan | 2024
What you do in that first hour can set the tone for the rest of your trip.
This is a necessary update to a video I released in October 2022 that gives you the most current information about arriving in Japan.
Old version here - • Do This BEFORE Arrivin...
So, it’s your first hour on the ground and you’re ready to go explore the country! But before you head out of the airport, there are several things you MUST do! You need Wi-Fi / Internet, Japanese Yen, Transportation information, train information and MORE!
Also before you arrive, there are steps you need to take to ensure an awesome Japan adventure - things like getting a Japan Rail Pass, downloading Japan travel apps, get information on Japan borders 2023, scheduling a Japan shuttle bus, and MUCH more!
This video will help you get set up quickly so you can get out and start enjoying everything Japan has to offer and do it with confidence.

I just returned from my first trip to japan about 5 days ago. Spent ten days there discovering tokyo, kyoto and gion, ginza to osaka and nara...... i am from italy but have lived in the states for over 30 years and have traveled all over the world. I will say Japan has been eye opening. I will absolutely be going back next year to keep exploring and learning all that i can about this incredible country. I am head over heels for Japan ❤ This video is so great and will be of much help to everyone who visits Japan. Wonderful content, hats off to you!!!!! 🙌🥂

Some heroes don't wear capes. I been dreading the idea of Japan's public transportation since in my country is barely useful what we have here and I know my trip is in November but I'm the type of person who likes to plan and learn as much as I need before I head somewhere new. Thank you so much for such a detailed videos of how to navigate the airport and arriving at the busiest crossing in the world. The step by step and slow explanation really is fantastic help for future travelers to Japan.

After many hours of being either on a plane or in an airport, finally laying in a bed is like the best feeling ever. My recommendation is not to plan anything to do until later in the day on the day after arrival. There's nothing more stressful that trying to race back out of the hotel after being exhausted from traveling all day before. Getting up later and having a relaxing lunch is a great way to just enjoy exploring the city.

If I am not mistaken, when withdrawing money from the ATM, don't accept the bank conversion rate as you lose out a bit. Also check your daily withdrawal limit, best to have a few bank cards to make several withdrawals if needed.
@nateshf9303

For me, a smarter way is to link the IC card mobile app (ICOCA for example) to my Apple Card to earn points and skip the 7-11 ATM machine which I used to get cash from a lot.

Sorry, this might sound silly since I’m not too familiar with how to use atms for withdrawing yet, but is there a button that allows you to choose a different rate or how do I get a different conversion rate, please?

To all the replies here, ignore the comment. I don't know what is meant by "ignore the conversion rate". I've been to Japan 6 times and, like any country to obtain cash, never saw an option about conversion rate. Quite simply, you don't have a choice than set by your bank. If you withdraw 10,000 yen, your bank will convert that to your home currency with its rate and debit your account. End of story! Any card these days should work. Insert, select English, and withdraw like you do anywhere.
