I noticed there are brakes that have holes on the lower portion for a piece of basically angle iron the helps bend the metal. I think they call it an apron ? Yours has the holes but it is removed. Is this just for extra leverage for thicker gauge metal ? I picked up a used Tennsmith brake that does not have them although it still retails at $900. They say its good for 22ga. Looks like the ones that have it are rated for 16ga.
@Thefabforums
@Thefabforums 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I dont use mine unless I need too....with it removed you can do tighter work
@dillwiggle2

So it is for bending heavier metal ? Yeah i read you can do tighter reverse backbends without it too.

I'm wondering if you can adjust how sharp of a bend, maybe better described, as a 90` bend with a slight radius. I haven't worked around aluminum much, so I don't know, if that sharp of a bend weakens it. Make it more prone to cracking?
@Thefabforums
@Thefabforums 7 жыл бұрын
+Al Cyr you can a little....the types of bends in this video don't weaken it as long as you are using the correct alloys

@@Thefabforums thats true for non weldable aluminum like 7075,6065,2024 you can only Bend against the grain of the aluminum but mostly all weldable aluminum like 6061,7072 you can bend with the grain and you won’t get any cracking or breaking upon bending

Great video, Kyle!👍 I love sheet metal work and this tool is essential. I don't really have the space for one currently, but when the time comes, I will own a Magnabend brake.
