Scotland fan here; 3 shots on target in over 270 minutes of football is an absolute disgrace. I knew it would be tough to get out the group and hoped we'd get through, though I didn't expect to get through. The results are not what was so disappointing, it was the performances.

Im Scottish and proud but im not proud of the awful performances. Abysmal negative tactics and knocked out of a tournament where it was easier to qualify from a group stage than any other Scottish team has faced. To not register a strike on target until injury time is as bas as it gets absolutely nothing to cheer about.

The manager is to blame for Scotlands poor performance and England have the same problem. Managers that are/will be too cautious the entire tournament. Even in the final game when we needed to win the game. We came out playing a 5-4-1, a formation that we adopted simply to get Robertson and Tierney in the same lineup. Tierney was injured for this game and for the rest of the tournament, so we didn’t have that dilemma. Yes we are used to that formation but why not change to a back 4 for a must win game. We struggled to create anything the entire match as we had 5 defenders and 4 midfielders on the pitch. None that would be considered an attacking midfielder for their clubs. We can’t blame the players. The players can only do what they do on a weekly basis. Putting 4 more defensive minded midfielders in a team along with 5 defenders and having only one natural attacker on the pitch we were never gonna create anything. The players can’t just suddenly start playing a different game than what they play week in week out at club level. Yes they are the big names but sometimes you just need to play the players that are actually used to playing a position on a weekly basis. Ending the game with about 7 midfielders on the pitch isn’t gonna win you the game. We needed some lads on the pitch that would make some forward runs. Not just like for like changes all over the park.

You might feel better going home after 3 games if Scotland had a go, went on the offensive and took it to the opposition but came up short. None of those applies apart from coming up short. Clarke didn't make the best use of his squad and more offensive players never saw minutes on the pitch. Hungary game was baffling given it was must win. Clarke will survive as long as he qualifies for major tournaments.. Wales & Ireland are looking for managers and the job isn't attractive for even out of work managers.

Scotland did what they always do they failed, but this time it wasn't a glorious failure it was an abject failure as they finished bottom of a group which featured Hungary and that's pretty damn poor indeed.
