That is so obvious with frankly most of the hearings we get to see provided by Forbes or The Hill. Like how many people go into these Congress inquiries whether it be judge appointments or social media groups... No one can answer yes or no questions.

I was confused by what Cruz was doing at first, then realized Beckerman could not answer the question yes or no and was creating a little backdoor for himself. The issue with just saying yes or no is that you lose the context and the "answer" is not really accurate. By just saying Yes that will be taken as TikTok collects information on US citizens and then shares it with the CCP. (cough cough that is what they are doing cough cough) What's funny is that regardless of how Beckerman explains it (see 2:31), even if he states that TikTok's "experts" say the data being shared is not of "national security importance", to think that the CCP won't try to use this data to undermine US national security is a joke. At/around 2:31, he says that they share data with parent/sister companies and that the data that TikTok has on the apps is not of National Security importance and the have access controls. Which is humorous. Of course any and all data that any foreign entity collects will be somehow used to their advantage of finding ways to undermine US national security. Beckerman should have just been transparent and said yes, per the TOS we share data, but we have experts that have determined that the data being shared is not of a national security importance. He sort of says this. From that you could have the discussion regarding if TikTok's expert analysts are correct in their analysis that the data they share has any national security importance. Of course Beckerman has to keep to his talking points and is bound to that per his bosses, etc
