Sunyata I think Carl Sagan was more than just a scientist. He was a philosopher. He went beyond what most scientists did by not just explaining the world, but also connecting it all together and giving it perspective. Alan Watts is right up there with him too. Alan Watts tells why it is what it is. Carl Sagan tells why the why is what it is.
@sunyata150

I sort of agree and sort of disagree. I think Sagan was more into the science, the world of abstract thought apart from life. His idea of mindblowing was realizing how small we are, like the Pale Blue Dot. Alan Watts' idea of mindblowing was how BIG we are, how big even existing is. I doubt Carl Sagan would have understood the idea of reincarnation as Watts communicates it. He would just be another typical "ITZ NOT SCIENCE" type person.

David Wilder 🙏 alan watts is the proverbial “blind leading the blind”, it is quite sad that humans buy into the confusion created by this man’s own mind. ꧁SACRED TEACHING of DMT꧂ DMT and 5-MeO-DMT are the molecular structures of a human’s Consciousness. They are the molecules that comprise our Consciousness. All True Psychedelics are the molecular structures of Pure Consciousness. The human body synthesizes it’s own Consciousness (the DMT & 5-MeO-DMT found in humans). Then the human body metabolizes the Conciousness that it is producing. The amount of the endogenous Consciousness that the human body is able to metabolize depends on many factors. The less pollutants, poison & other contaminants present in the body will result in the ability to metabolize more of the Consciousness that body is producing. Likewise, the more pollution, contaminants, and poison a body has inside of it the less Consciousness it is able to metabolize. Here is a list of some of the most common poisons that humans ingest regularly which interfere with a human body from metabolizing the Consciousness that it produces, as well as any Consciousness that is ingested from external sources: alcohol, nicotine, sugar, caffeine, amphetamines, dissociatives, tranquilizers, flouride, hallucinogenics, and a plethora of other drugs are just some of the substances that interfere with humans metabolizing their own Consciousness. The following substances are NOT Psychedelics: 1-mdma 2-ketamine 3-salvia 4-kratom 5-dipt 6-pcp 7- datura/jimson weed There are others . . . . . . . Any True Psychedelic will proclaim this Truth if you ask Them. The following substances ARE True Psychedelics - They are Alive, Omnicient Living Beings of Light: DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, LSD, Mescaline, Ibogaine, Psilocin, Psilocybin, THC, DPT, DET, Muscimol, there are others . . . . So if a human can achieve 100% purity within their bodies, with zero contaminants or pollution (an unattainable state in these current bodies) and managed to metabolize 100% of the endogenous Psychedelics that their physical body is producing (DMT & 5-MeO-DMT), that would be the limit to how Conscious that human can be. In order for a human to become more Conscious than this they must put more Consciousness into their physical bodies. You must put more molecules of Consciousness inside of your physical body in order to attain a Higher level of Consciousness. When you ingest Psychedelics you see Them that you just ingested, not some doorway or window or a “portal” to somewhere else or some entity somewhere else. When you ingest LSD the Light that you see is the LSD Themselves, very Beautiful Living Beings of Light. When you ingest DMT the Entity you see and hear is the Living Light Beings DMT Themselves. The same is true for All True Psychedelics. There is this part from Scripture: “They are the Eternal among things that pass away. Pure Consciousness, of Conscious Beings. The ONE who fulfills the prayers of many. Only the wise who see Them in their Souls attain the Peace Eternal” -Katha Upanishad The Physical Body of Conciousness is The Flesh of God. The Flesh of God is the True Communion Entity (the Eucharist) The Flesh of God (the Psychedelic) is the Fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and evil. Our Bodies Truly are the Temple of God because God the Psychedelic Lives within it. As Saint Paul says in 2nd Corinthians chapter 4 verse 7: “We are only the earthenware jars that hold this treasure, to make it clear that such an overwhelming power comes from God and not from us”. That is the meaning of this - you can now understand this better. So whether or not a person is ingesting Psychedelics, every single human’s body is God’s Temple because DMT & 5-Meo-DMT Live within it. Anything you do to hurt or harm your body you do to harm God’s Temple. Once the Psychedelic shows this to you personally, in other words, God shows you that your physical body is THEIR Temple, and you understand this, then anything you do to hurt the Temple of God now is a worst offense in God’s eyes than when you were blind to this Truth. Now you will be deliberately defiling the Temple of God. This understanding is a good Foundation, a good step towards a person Knowing God and being able to stay with Them both in this Lifetime & afterwards. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eKx1Z8KY2ZvXYH0.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bKd1gsxl3szNe2g.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zt1mZqmhndeXnps.html GodsNarrowGate@gmail.com

If you stop a killer, it is an act of the moment. You did not control the killer. You merely stopped him/her. And how do you know who is an unjust killer and who isn't? If you kill a killer, aren't you too a killer? You have true control over yourself. You have to sleep sometime and you will die. You do not control anything other than yourself. brajamtho757 I don't think his philosophy of being God has to do with being a literal God that can control anything. He's saying we're God in the sense that we are the highest power. The universe is the highest power and since we are a part of the universe we are the highest power. He's talked down on the ceramic model of the universe and says that the universe doesn't need to be created by anyone or anything because it is God. Not God in the sense of being a conscious creator but God in the sense of being the thing responsible for it's own existence.
@breeeegs9704
@breeeegs9704 9 жыл бұрын
***** So the universe created itself? How can a thing create itself? And I think it's remiss to say that "we [humans] are the highest power". We are most certainly not the highest power, not even compared to the forces of nature which could obliterate us in a heartbeat. We are small, fragile, finite, destructible beings, but that doesn't mean we aren't capable of doing great and wonderful things. My personal conception of G-d (or at least the kind of G-d I want to believe in) is one who is more personal and actively involved in human life on a collective and individual level. I like to think of G-d as being merciful and loving, rather than wrathful and vindictive, as I imagine most people would. At the same time, I understand that there would need to be a balance of both justice and mercy for the universe to work. I suppose you might say that my view of G-d is more biblical and traditional. Alan Watts may or may not have believed in that type of G-d (actually it seems to me that his view of G-d is more in keeping with Eastern rather than Western tradition) but I still love his insights and I find them extremely poignant and moving. I also don't think that Watts's view of G-d is entirely at odds with the view of G-d in the Jewish mystical tradition, in the sense of G-d being the Infinite Light (Ein Sof) hiding itself in creation.
@AgainstNihilism
@AgainstNihilism 9 жыл бұрын
I don't think you understand that I'm not using the term create in a literal sense. When I say create I'm just saying that the universe is responsible for it's own existence. When I say humans are God I mean that we don't exist as egos or souls that are separate from God which is exactly what the Jewish view of the soul is. Western religion strictly believes in the ego and the self. Alan Watts view of God is that the universe itself is God and since, according to Eastern views, we aren't egos in a bag of skin we are the sum total of all of existence. We are directly a part of the infinite. Our perception of being a self separate from our environment is an illusion especially when the particles that exist as your self have existed for 14 billions years. That's why I don't believe there's an afterlife because I view the universe as on continuous process. After my death the universe will still go on and the particles that existed as myself will still exist. I just don't think my individual sense of self as an ego will go anywhere or live on because the universe is already living on. Hope that made more sense.
@breeeegs9704
@breeeegs9704 9 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry if I misunderstood. When you wrote that "the universe is responsible for its own existence", I interpreted it as meaning that the universe somehow brought itself into existence. Also, the Jewish view of the soul is that it is indeed a part of G-d, in the sense that it was created in the Divine Image, so to speak, and imbued with a Godly spark. I don't think the afterlife necessarily conflicts with the idea of the universe "as a continuous process", as you put it, because the afterlife is not physical, but a dimension and plane of being that transcends space and time. I also don't agree with the assertion that universe itself can "be G-d", since the universe is merely a creation of G-d, and G-d is distinct from His own creation. In fact, there are multiple spiritual universes, according to Jewish mysticism, and we occupy the lowest. And Judaism is not a Western religion at all. It began in the Middle East and Mesopotamia, going back to the time of Abraham, the progenitor of monotheism. I think this may be part of why there are so many fascinating parallels between the Eastern and Jewish conceptions of God and spirituality. We don't agree on everything, but I think there are more parallels between the Jewish and Eastern views of spirituality than there are between the Jewish and Christian conceptions of G-d.

Having spent hundreds of hours listening to Alan Watts all over the place, this is one of my favourite videos, production wise. The music is right, the volume of the music is low and not disturbing the audio, adding good ambience, the reverb on the voice is great and powerful etc.. It's very sad when people insert loud music or don't understand how to handle music in a delicate and subliminal manner. It's there to enhance, effect and project, NOT to annoy and disturb. Wish more people would get this very crucial shading right. CONGRATS to the Publisher. Bravo!

I've never done shrooms, but as Bolb said, this idea definitely feels like one I've known deep down for a while now. It's crazy. Like, I'm scared to say it or address it or be honest about it but I do believe in the continuation of the oneness through never ending energy. That I always was and always will be and that this perspective will be the only perspective forever. My perspective. I just won't ever be able to understand how this perspective will always be and has always been. It's weird but, it's true.

I'm 16, and I feel like I'm the only one in my generation who is so very intrigued and drawn in to deep topics of philosophy and life. Why don't people realise their time is limited and spend it wisely? I find myself thinking deeply in my mind about the universe, consciousness and this beautiful world we live in, yet so many people are brainwashed by the society and media telling us what we should do/think/believe, that they don't realise what is going on around them and the amazing opportunity we have to even be alive. There is no past, there is no future, there is only the now which we experience once and will never do so again. I don't care about things like money, cars, television, video games. I care about life :) Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this!

Before I had discovered Alan, I used to have severe anger issues and couldn’t control my emotions. It may have been from a concussion back from when I was younger, through sports. But I’ll never really know so I let it go. Anyways it was like there’s was two sides of me that wouldn’t work together to be one single Being. Sort of like a physical me, and a inner neurological me trying to impose other ideas and I don’t mean it in a schizophrenic way. They would often battle and I would end up being short tempered and off. I’m a pretty normal kid at school and out, not to sound like that kid but I would say I’m a pretty popular kid, athletic, artsy, and pretty bad attention skills.I have a lot of good relationships and a good family. But everything was off for most of my teen years. I was over complicating life and asking too many questions. It started to drive me crazy on the inside although I did a good job at hiding it. Even sad at sometimes because I thought I was nothing besides a spec of energy. After I had discovered him, he really helped me with the answers to my questions. I realize I can’t control things. It’s like trying to float on water, It’s in a way letting the water take u and u just let it happen. Same goes with the universe. I’ve always wanted to become the master of something and hopefully make good money eventually, but my only question for me now is, what? I’m glad I’m only 16 and my thought process is the way it is. Although I get annoyed at my friends because they don’t realize it, what we are all experiencing, too caught up with their petty problems. They are too self Centered, matter of fact all kids my age are. I used to smoke weed too, probably wasn’t the best. But sometimes it would open my mind up to unimaginable things, and I loved that part of it and it helped me answer my questions. But since the last time, it felt like it makes me much more stupid and slow. I don’t need it anymore. It was sort of a way to get away from my aggravating questions. The most recent times I had done it, it just numbed me and made me stupid. Anyways hope you have a good day.

To be honest, stopping smoking weed is the best decision you made. There is and was nothing wrong with you. As you probably know your brain is not fully developed (pre frontal cortex) until age 25. Until then we run through the amygdala and it is the part of the brain responsible for emotions. You and your friends are just normal teens. Maybe the weed caused the introspection that your brain wasn't able to process logically and it became over excited. As Alan says, the mind is a wonderful servant but a lousy master... best wishes on your journey, I wish I'd known Alan at 16....

Alan Watts always helped me. Everyday when i walked to my bus stop, i would listen to one of his speeches. He helped me whenever i felt useless.

Henry Willis His message is just as valid either way, but the video and music make sure people with shorter attention spans keep paying attention. I don't think it adds to the meaning, nor that it takes away anything from what he's saying.

The same for me. I left Islam some years ago and i'm an atheist now but I always felt that there is more to life and Watts helped me to find it and now I see life in a complete different way. Much more beautiful than it was before.

The opening visuals of this vid is spot on and amazing! Describes man's futile attempt to build his totems and images...and then they end up decaying and crumbling.....thusly his illusions decay and crumble....and he truly realizes that "He is it!!"

"The meaning of life is to be alive." That's simple. But what makes you feel alive is different from person to person is what makes it much more complicated.

You misunderstand, the meaning of life isn’t to “feel alive” it’s to BE alive, and no matter what you’re doing you’re doing that, being alive, you’re the universe experiencing what it’s like to be specifically whatever you think you are at that moment, doesn’t matter what it is, happy or sad, because it’s always going to change. Reality is a process.
