Honestly. Personally, I think it's realistic. I mean 10 would be if you're CEO, perfect wife and kids, traveled to the moon, financially stable. To be a ten, maybe you don't need to accomplish THAT much, but 9.7 is still very high and very close to 10. It's just that 10 is perfect and ideal, and no one can really be 10 unless they WERE 100% perfect. However, 10 always feels better - and we give 10s to the ones we really love as a sign that we know the struggle and all that they've gone through and also stare in awe at even their smallest accomplishments.

This is like your grandma saying that you are the most beautiful child in the world, you know it is not true, she knows it is not true, everybody knows it is not true.
@araogi1738
@araogi1738 7 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you define as beautiful, are we talking about appearance? I think grandmas are right, you are the most beautiful child in THEIR eyes, because they know you personally, they know just how amazing their grandchildren are, sure, on the outside it may not seem like it, because i'm sure there're plenty of people who look better than us, but beauty is not defined from how we look The same as this, sure, it may seem exaggerated, but the point is it shows that, sometimes how we think, how we see ourselves is not really the way it actually is, sometimes we judge ourselves too hard and we shouldn't because even if we think we're a failure there will be someone who thinks that we're not, and maybe even think that we're successful, there's always a bright side in everything, always be a lesson to learn

***** What's to say these people weren't objectively judging their partner? It's highly likely that they do in fact perceive them in a positive light. Not everyone is a pessimist. So what if they feel better when they feel appreciated by someone? How is that manipulative?

Honestly if i rate myself a certain way, i dont want someone to just give me a 10 just because they love me or feel bad, I want real feedback. Tell me why I'm better than what I give myself, not your biased opinion. If someone is asking that, the last thing they wanna hear is "your perfect", because they already know they aren't but as someone who does care, you guide them and point out the things that they excel in, you say their positives and strengths in order to help build them up.

The look on her face after writing 4, that quiet anguish...even starting to hide her face behind the board, saying: this, this is what I am. I felt that hit me all the way through. Then her tears and soft "thank you" to her man writing 10 was as genuine as it gets. I hope she left happier and more confident than she came.

What makes me very sad in a hard to explain way is when people who are already hugely sucessful (like in the top 1% academically) still strive for better, thinking they are not good enough. I know because despite self-praise, this is part of me. Sometimes I beat myself up over the smallest of things and forget that I have achieved so much because it's just something I can do. Sometimes I praise myself and then turn around and tell myself I can't do it; it's like an ongoing split personality paradox. I can almost objectively see my achievements but the subjective feeling about them is like feeling them through a glass pane
@RibbonVintageGirl

Wild4lon because, as my mom told me, that "there's always another sky on top of a sky," meaning that there will always be another successful person on top of a successful person. As to ease your frustration, all you need to do is to realize, and see for yourself, those who are less successful than you are. Not all the time, of course, but having to take a glance on them can make you feeling grateful. Everyone's success varies, and there's no need to compare each other tbh. Easier to said than done, but just remember that you, too, have accomplished many things in life just like everyone else.

It made me realized that, whatever you do, you're a successful person. Many of my friends were said, I want to be a successful person. But, they didn't explain how success is. I mean, I literally cried after watched this. Thinking to myself that, I'm a successful person. It's not easy to get a job, even it's not the job that you wanted for. But with determination and supports from the others, I believe I could get higher and higher!

This is beautiful... I believe that this is about the different perceptions of the meaning of the word 'success'. Someone who doesn't know me, would not rate me fairly when it comes to my 'success' levels. A loved one knows much more about what you went through in life to be where you are now and therefore would rate you more fairly. Also, I am always too hard on myself when it comes to my 'success' ratings and I am sure that a lot of other people are as well. I feel that it also highlight how stress and anxiety can affect your opinion on yourself and how a loved one or a close person to you could potentially help you improve your opinion on yourself by pointing out all the positives that you might have missed. But that's just me.

_"How would people in your life define your success?"_ - Well, always higher than you do; *always with a bias*. It never happens any other way... What is worse is to then make a video about it *and* call it _"you _*_are_*_ more successful than you realize"_ - What a conclusion, congratulations, turning confirmation bias into a fake fact, a fake illusion of being better than you are in reality. (Oh and what worries me more is the like/dislike ratio, meaning 90% of humanity is superficial)

+GaborBartal Well, no one can rate you as a parent better than your own child. I know I would easily give my mother a 50 out of 10. She did so much for me and I see all the efforts she is doing every single day. I never met a mother as devoted as my mother is.
@tarcal87
@tarcal87 8 жыл бұрын
+MadTahaney It's true that if anyone, a child can see most of what a parent is like. But each child only has 1 mother to rate. Respectfully, read your last sentence and see how pretty much everyone would say that, and once again, it cannot be true at all for everyone to say that at the same time. Don't take it personally, it's just everyone is biased and your comment was the perfect example of that (instead of refuting what I said, you confirmed it) - Again please don't feel a shred of hostility, I love my mom, too, it's just that one has to speak objectively.

I'm reading comments and I realized that many people don't understand the point of this video. Do you know how many people have serious problems because they never heard anything good from their family, friends...? We started to be very selfish and envious and to criticize a lot. I love this video, because it shows that not only material things are valuable (people were giving low grades to himself because of the job, so they think that job is success), but their loved gave them high grades because of something else (they are good mother, girl, boy...). So yes, definition of success should be changed. Maybe many people would be more successful in being better people.

There are different definitions of it and just watch some videos from mentors and see how they define „success”... of course that for sb’s mental health it’s better not to get only an example from millionaires and celebs and many people,compares themselves, their lives to them what leads only to depression and feeling bad with their life. It can cause a super motivation but probably they will be always miserable, unhappy just by seeing that they are less popular or have much less money than others.

"Success is counted sweetest to those who ne'er succeed" I absolutely love that quote because it has defined the way I think for a very long time, and I'm sure you can see it reflect in the selected people's lives as well. In recounting our success, we always remember the failures we have experienced as well as inappreciation for our current situation. Naturally most of us are not content with our position in life, so we usually chase after a better vision for ourselves, then obtain it, and proceed to yet again chase after the next biggest thing. In this cycle, sometimes we forget what we truly have and don't take time to appreciate our state. So, I could definitely see how many ranked themselves lower. The "loved ones" shown in this video remind the respective individuals that their role matters, so I don't see any bullshit in their high ranking. We need more of that in this world to be very honest.

Look, it's a nice video. It's good to see people making their loved ones feel successful. But in all honesty, your amount of success really is up to you, not other people. If you never achieved what you wanted to achieve, no amount of people saying otherwise can make you just forget about missed opportunities and chances to succeed.

Considering that success is thought of and approached differently by each person, as touching as it is to have loved ones think you're successful, it doesn't mean a damn thing unless you yourself feel successful. Alba Corona "Also, success isn't what most of us might think (money, grades, jobs)" No, success is exactly what most of us think, because we determine what we need to accomplish to feel successful. My interpretation of success is exactly what I think it is. "the whole point of our lifes in this world is to be happy and to share that happiness with others". That's an incredibly broad assumption to make considering there are close to 7 billion people in this world. I don't think you get to tell others what the point of life is.

Of course this is subjective people! Success is subjective! You really think that anything that has happened in human history matters? Success is completely relative to what you think success is! The only people you can affect are the people around you and yourself and iyam striving to be your best is what makes you successful at the end of the day, because this is all fucking random and when you die it won't matter to anyone but the people you have affected as to what you have done with your life.

it's not useless. what you might think is 50% to you, might be150% for others and you just don't realize. it's really hard to feel unsuccessful. take me for example, I'm in a point in life where I have no idea what to do and I feel useless in this world and very often I question my existence. but people around me tell me (the same as was done in this video) how amazing I am. I don't always believe them but there might be some truth to what they say and I wanna stick around to find out more.

Almost everyone have someone but they never see it and once they realise it... its normally too late. So be grateful.
