Your comments about staying up late really resonated with me. I remember when I was in law school, people used to stay up ALL NIGHT. I couldn't do it. I studied on a strict schedule, but I went to bed when my body was tired. Later, I found out a lot of people were taking meds to help them stay up. These bad habits affect lawyers for a lifetime. There is a high rate of divorce, suicide, alcoholism, addiction, and depression in the legal profession.

Yep, I hate my life. Work, eat, sleep repeat. Groceries, wash clothes on the weekend and get ready for the work week. Throw in a couple fun things on the weekend and that's life. By the time I get off work, I've already been up 12+ hours. Too tired and/or achy to do anything. Thinking of what else I can do to support myself...

This resonated with me 100 percent. What I don't say, you said it. I just started telling myself it's okay not to be okay. Society never asks are you okay or tells you to take a break. Everything is get more, get more, secure your future. It's like, listen I'm tired burnt out, and just need to reset. And society takes it as if I'm being lazy or a failure.

Thank you so much for this!!! Even though I follow Buddhist philosophy, I truly love your videos and what you're expressing is what's encouraged in Zen Buddhism, and that is to live in the present moment and embrace a quiet mind. Sometimes, people work endlessly and obsess with "hustle and grind" to escape their inner thoughts because often they don't have inner peace. I love to see other Black women confront "hustle culture" because there seems to be this unspoken rule in our culture, especially Black culture, that if you aren't tired and stressed TF out then you're not working hard. Why does my work ethic have to be measured by the amount of torture I endure for a paycheck?! 😫😓

I got Covid in the beginning of January then had neck surgery at the end of January, and you know this is the first time in my life where I truly haven't worked or done anything in my whole entire life. And you know what?? It's been one of the biggest blessings of my life. I actually am being still and learning to hear just what it is that I really want in my life What I want to do and where I want direction I want to be next. Beautiful sister you hit the nail right on the head in speaking we're not lazy we're just tired. So today I choose to rest and so should you. Blessings 🙌 ❤🙏

You have said so much that makes sense. I've always known this wasn't right, but you have confirmed. My house flooded in 2016, lost everything. Same house caught fire in 2021. I was living on GO since 2016 because whenever it rained, the anxiety would shoot through the roof. I was sad, moody, exhausted, mentally, emotionally and physically drained. On top of that I had a young child and an active teenager. I worked full time and served as a chauffeur for my kids and aging mother. The fire almost took me out. Still looking for items that I thought were saved, but were apparently lost and/or discarded. After the fire, I went to therapy. The therapist said, it seems like you want me to give you permission to rest. After thinking about it, that's exactly what I wanted. Yes, the fire was bad, but others had it worst. Should I complain? She said, take time off, drop your daughter off at school, go home and do nothing... It's ok. Isn't that sad? I literally needed permission to rest.

I love your channel! I learned this appreciating my body when I was diagnosed with a tumor in 2019 that ended up in 2020 the stranger aka (cancer). I felt ashamed and embarrassment. Here I was a Wellness Lifestyle Coach. Helping others with their health. I had to stop coaching others to coach myself. That was my wake up call that needed to immediately start working on healing myself emotionally long with building up my immune system by doing non invasive treatment that was non toxic. I did not know that my emotional health was literally dying. I torture myself for 48 years by suppressing my emotions. I take full responsibility for making myself sick by not taking care of myself emotionally. I learned that we are all humans with this beautiful energy that is inside each and one of us . Do you know why some of us black people have trouble with intestinal conditions? We haven't let go of the past of any hurt, trauma, guilt, shame, disappointment, release that emotional pain out of our body and forgive ourself. I speak from experience and help many of my clients with that same experience. It is time to let go of the past family! I learned this the hard way it cost me my health. Now I love me unconditionally and I know I have value. I look at life differently. My health is Non- Negotiable! I have a peace of mind by remaining calm by trusting with the Grand Creator GOD JEHOVA'. Thank you for your beautiful music and your service.🥰

The song at the end! 🤗💕💕💕💕 thank you for this, and the work you are doing sharing these messages. I’m never someone who shares videos with friends lol but I sent your video to all my friends and ppl I care about and got such good feedback! It opened discussion about so much burnout and being more forgiving with ourselves!

Good and interesting points but I have some respectful disagreement. * The secret is to work smarter, not harder. This is the thing that separates the CEO and executives upstairs from the front line men downstairs in the restaurant, on the shop floor, or wherever. The CEO is where they are today because by some stroke of genius or luck, they found their way. Those on the front lines just keep on working, working, working, busting their behinds working thinking they’ll make it up there with the CEO. But they not, because they’re on a hamster wheel going nowhere. * This is coming from a black woman of course. It seems like black people take this position that the capitalist society and working hard, etc is not for them or it’s racist, but many don’t seem to realize that the rest of the world also works, many in capitalism, such as Japan, India, even Communist China. It’s not just a ‘black’ thing, it’s a world thing, or rather an issue in humanity. Capitalism has many issues but so does Communism. Someone may ‘check out’ in communism, deciding work isn’t for them, but others would have to pick up the slack. Capitalism is pretty much the same in that regard, if someone decides not to work and live off the gov/tax payer contribution, then everyone else has to continue working to contribute to that system. Nothing is free so it’s pretty difficult to ‘check out.’ Which goes back to not working hard, but working smart being the way. I’m figuring it out myself as I go along.
