I thought it was her portrayal of the Anna that I didn’t like, turns out it was the actual character. I was annoyed by her at all times in the book and the movie I found her equally annoying. Didn’t love the books, hated the movies, but now a huge fan of Dakota Johnson.

Their relationship was definitely toxic in some aspects but he was actually right in this instance.
