Because men can’t be the good guys or even sympathized with at all ever and need to be seen as evil. They have to be the bad guys that get all the bad things done to them despite them being the most in-the- right of their actions, Let’s flip this, how would the attitude of the movie change if it was a wife that let her husband drown? People would make excuses “it’s all she could do cause he’s a man and is a threat to her” No, a woman can destroy a a marriage, drug herself up, cause her own death and it be the guys fault still

She was totally okay with absolutely mentally destroying hi,, and we are expected to co,e and save them when they’re making their own terrible decisions… no, I don’t call that killing. I mean, you can't have also put her there too tho. lmao. BUT even in that case, crime of passion from snapping CAN result in a very very short stint in prison instead of life. Destroy him? He's trapped in a multidimensional house built by the devil who's captured his body, mind, and soul. It's not like he's just going to keep living life normally from the house. He doesn't need money and he's never going to see Ella again.

@@outsideview9052 The background is the most important part and why he's confessing. It's essentially the equivalent of him having radiation poisoning and knowing he's going to die in 2 hours. He's literally eternally trapped in a portal by the devil and his mind/soul is going straight to hell. He doesn't care about alimony or her destroying his life. His life is already over.

I think it's to show that he's making a different choice than he did with his first wife. With the new wife he now has every reason to resent and hate her like his previous wife, because of her cheating. But he's making a different decision than before, despite having the same feelings eventually, as he did with the first wife. He's accepted his fate. So he's letting them go to effectively save them.
