For the record, Yostar doesn't make the game, they're just the publisher outside of China. Hypergryph makes the game. If anything, Yostar is just the source of the sometimes awkward translation.

When you spend a lot of time in the lobby choosing risk, it helps that the music is banger. If you're going to fail a lot in CC anyway, might as well enjoy Art of Blade.

Bruh Arknights is hands down the best F2P gacha out there imo Music, gacha rates, availability of units, character lore, the lack of a gear system because fuck CE's, artifacts and weapons gacha. As a F2P, I don't feel the need to use a single cent in the game and yet, I would if there's ever a time I feel like I really want something, I feel like they earned my money at this point. Speaking of the characters, the designs for the game are phenomenal imo. Strikes a great balance between sci-fi, fantasy, and practicality since most of the characters you deal with are, for the most part, combat-ready no matter their station and that is reflected in their designs.

This game is definetly a progression and an investment but feels very rewarding. A year after playing my main team consists of just magallan and mayer. The Rhine Lab superlords. Sure, my other full 6 star team could do the job ten times faster and easier, but just using two units to take down a stage is so rewarding. All done without a single dime spent. I've played Fate Genshin Impact and other gacha games, but something just keeps getting me back to Arknights. And yes, music 10/10. Great vid.

The game used up all the money they had left at the time. Now with the money earned by Arknights, they could keep on their main job. Well, I made it up, have fun ;D

Aceship is your friend. All characters, even CN for the moment, are on there and able to read their lore without having to grind trust. Unless you want a proper translation, google will be your friend for the moment.

Man, this game has some my favorite chibi art out of all the games I've tried. They just look so damn GOOD And they're all so CUTE And then the actual full art is like BAM

I already play Azur Lane (which Yostar also publishes it) and I knew Arknights because some people who enjoy Azur Lane also like Arknights. As you said, the beginning of the game can be kinda slow because you need to put some time to dedicate into the game. I dropped Arknights for a month and then decided to return because the lore in this game is so good. After that, I never gave up from Arknights and it's still one of the best gacha games I've ever played. I really like how strategies in this game can be really flexible from using someone in meta or using a waifu/husbando team and it works.

Fun fact: If you have W, the game doesn't feel that much grindy anymore. You'll just be having a game of Tic Tac Toe at some random part of the map.

I often hear about story starting up "slow" and I dont really get this complain. The escape from Chernobog was some of the most epic shit I ever saw in a game. Now, chapters 2 and 3 are boring, I agree. But immediately after that we get Frostnova, which is... amazing.

Pro tip: Find lower rarity units and E2 them. Seriously, some 5 and 6 stars only hit their stride once they get E2 and that is one very pricey commitment. Meanwhile there are many, many 4 stars that are incredibly decent even at base and only get better at E2 for a fraction of the cost. Create a core team with a bunch of beefy 4 stars and you can honestly clear every bit of content in this game with ease. Doing that will serve you WAAAAAY better in the beginning than having a hodgepodge of 6 stars at E1 level 20-40 and underdeveloped 4 stars that serve unique irreplaceable functions. Also, as a second tip, learn what units serve what purposes. Some unit archetypes are very rare and only have a few representatives. Don’t neglect these units especially: Myrtle Ethan Shaw Melantha Cliffheart Perfumer Courier Mouse Midnight Shirayuki Click susuro

"mostima is best girl" and this video is an automatic 10/10 just because of that seriously though the amount of lore and inspiration behind the world and the characters themselves is so fascinating to me, it's insane how much went into it

I play arknights for the story and the music. I agree that the story doesn't start until chapter 4, which is still a lot better than most Gacha's since there are just waaaaaaaaay less and shorter cutscenes in Arknights (especially in the early game), but the problem remains that these guys really didn't know what they were doing until they kinda just said 'fuck it' to holding the players hand and just started doing what they wanted. My biggest issue is that I'm impatient to use what I have-meaning that I can hold out for any operator I want, held out for months to get W-but once I have the operator I want to max lvl them asap and m3 every skill they have, and doing that is just way too tough in late game. My biggest complaint with arknights would be how much they held back in the story in the beginning. The 1st chapter was a fine by-the-book anime opening and everything after that with skullshatterer was a mess of wanting to send a message about how when adults can't get their shit together it's the kid's who are going to have to vibe check the world, plus introduce us better to the suffering of the infected that completely fell flat on it's face. By contrast, twilight of Wolumonde was a fucking banger. Sure the levels were a nightmare and I will forever curse the black hearted monster in Hypergryph who dreamt of creating an originium slug you can't silence that can do massive arts damage and insta-steal gramophones. Also, whoever decide to mix THAT with introducing Golems and mudrock...oh sweet god in heaven mudrock...the less said about her the better. If she wasn't as good a unit as she was painful a boss I'd riot. Back on point though, I really just wish they'd pour more into not holding back bits of lore and letting us get to know the cast better. Probably the second biggest thing in the game that holds back story possibly even above just not knowing what to do at first was how much you NEED to be a lore nerd in some capacity and be willing to look up and read bits of info from characters and items just to be able to get the slightest clue about what the hells going on. In chapter 7 when Wei is going off because of the Ursus Core city and the chit with Koshei gets brought up all I could think was: "Great mother of God if I didn't hound forums for info and read up laulicon's crap on reddit I might be lost as all hell...and on some of this stuff I still am. How is this shit for guys who don't troll the lore websites but still want to read the mains story?" I mean they already put the skip button in the game for guys who don't want to read, so why are they watering down their story? I think that in anime today there's this weird habit of holding back info until the finale on the basis that that's good storytelling. It isn't. If you're not holding back information that might be integral for the person reading the material you're presenting them, much less artificially elongating the arc they're currently reading, because it's actually important to the story you're trying to make but because you're attempting to follow tradition, you're fucking up. You are actually holding yourself back from going balls to the wall with the story YOU want to tell and going so far as to make it impossible to understand, on top of watering down the importance of events by holding them back from being as impactful as they could be if you let them go at their full pace. Western writing has different problems but frankly speaking eastern writing has some that boggle my mind. And Arknights might be one of the least affected among them all, but the fact they're affected in the first place put a bullet in this game before launch that didn't need to be shot.

Arknights is great, never have I once felt like I had to pay in order to get a unit or something in order to get through a level - looking at you, Food Fantasy - and the game is genuinely enjoyable to even an idiot like me; I just wish that Hypergryph could pump out chapters more frequently, but if waiting means we'll get another banger, then I am willing to wait. *just please gacha, give me phantom, i just want my cat boy-*

I agree on all the points; the main story can be rather slow to start, but the Event stories are all baller - Darknights Memoir, Twilight of Wolumonde, Code of Brawl, Children of Ursus, the list goes on. And of course, the music is amazing, not just the genres Dio listed, but also delving into rock, metal, electronica/trance. Arknights is my favorite game at the moment, and nothing has drawn me in like it since 2017's Nier:Automata. Well worth a look.

What I like most about this game is its stupidly good flexibility. Even though I have a general team that can reliably clear everything, I'm planning on maxing out Mayer and magallan just for pure fun. The problem is if my brain can handle them x.x

I tried a few gachas in the past but none caught me. I grow quickly frustrated when I think that a game is a "pay to win". But not AK. I spent MONTHS having fun as a free player. Then I got the monthly pass to be able to play more for cheap. Now I like buying the monthly pulls. Not because I NEED them to win, but because I like the game, I like getting cool new characters and trying them out, and 99% of the game is truly enjoyable to me. I can fire it up in the morning while having breakfast, and then at night tidy up before going to sleep. I only go ham when playing when an event comes out. Now, as a negative, some of the more difficult levels are pretty much cancer to win, but they are few and far between. Also, the first event I participated in absolutely wrecked me, since I had just started the game and my levels were low. Now, with a diverse team of supers I have the key to nearly any problem! It just took time to get there.
