@@THEWIELDBOYS8700 Swastika is not inherently a Nazi symbol. If you study ancient history the swastika actually revolves around secularistic teachings of soundwaves in water, it also has inherent symbolism for the Buddhist 8 fold path. it was in a lot of ancient Egypt, or Khemetian culture. The American Indians recognized the swastika as a holy symbol. The Slavic Culture recognizes the Swastika as a holy symbol. Here is a fun fact. if you spin the Volkswagen symbol at about 432 rpms it makes a swastika. 4.32 htz is the natural frequency of the Earths resonation. the earths circumferance is 432000 lengths of the Ancient Great Pyramid of Giza. We are 432000 miles from the sun. The rabbit hole is deep. Are we in a simulation?

I been wanting bees for years, but I move multiple times a year. Last 2.5 years I moved almost 20 times. So need to wait untill I settle down. My plan was a flowhive, but I been thinking avout going horizontal because of price and it looks better to over winter them because og isolation. I live in Norway so might be a good solution. Will later get the flow hive when I have some strong hives going. The question is if I should use langstroth frames or layens frames. Layens seems like a stronger and better frame in a horizontal, but if I use langstroth it will fitt in the flowhive aswell. Might go layens and then just cut out some comb and mount it in the longstroth with ruber bands if needed. Still be a good time untill I can get bees. So we will see.

Sending so much love and thanks to Dr. Leo, his family, and Doug & Stacy. I'm in Alberta. We had a milder winter than we expected. I wrapped my five langstroth hives with alpaca duvet but to size and then typar as wind protection. I was shocked that all made it through, healthy and happy, treatment free. I started with two nucs(my yard is permaculture paradise for them) turned into five hives plus a late swarm I gave to a friend as I'd ran out of equipment fall. My lovely brother is building my first insulated layens hive now so I can put a swarm from my bees into it this spring. You're both changing the bee's lives and I feel very blessed to be able to find so much information for free. I'm so excited to switch over to layens and treat the bees to less stress.

I also know that bees are attracted to colors, I’ve seen times where they completely covered the seat on a John Deere tractor that was yellow but left the green alone, I’m sure different colors mean different things to them and has something to do with identifying flowers and all that butI’m sure in some respects either recognize or start to identify the color with the hive like they were with flowers or anything else

I LOVE these videos! Keep ‘em comin! Some “construction” tips (based on working with an “empty” hive): 1. Clamp the artwork to the hive, reach inside and mark the holes with a pencil. (Will save a ton of time measuring and possibly making an error). 2. As someone else said, run the hole saw in reverse. No need for the plywood “sandwich” etc. but certainly use a wood base to drill into. It’ll help with any possible tear out as well as just be a base to drill on. 3. Screw a “ledger” board to the very bottom of the hive, that protrudes beyond the face of the hive to set the artwork on while the silicone sets up and you replace the corner brackets.

Thank you Doug for bringing such a passion for life everyday, you are an inspiration. While watching a few men on youtube an American and a Canadian learning how to gather honey from a wild hive, they smoked the hive heavy with a smouldering branch. They said the bees would stop attacking them because they would be more intent to recover the honey before it becomes destroyed by the smoke. So that smoke results in the bees thinking the tree or forest near by is on fire so they go to gather what resources they have to transport it to another location where it is safe.

Loved this video. I learn something from you and Stacey every time! I find it interesting how people who do not live in the 'country' /rural areas think of mice as something other than vermin. Your livelihood can be destroyed by one mouse family, so fast. And this does not include the possibility of the germs and lice and mites and fleas and ticks that can live on them. Mouse in the wrong place, wrong time. Thanks again to you Doug and Stacey and of course to the wonderful Dr. Leo and the beautiful artwork from his wife. @@ritamoore3940 I would love to see them! These old designs bring up so much for conversation and if your well read you know the significance of them throughout history. Keep painting them!

For drilling through aluminum, I usually start off with turning the hole saw backwards, and I drill a slight angle… less than 10 degrees and file the edges later. I have been installing commercial door for 30 years and drilling the steel doors often happens…

PS - I truly believe that the new artwork gift will “christen” the hive in such a way so as to change to aura of this box into a life fulfilling space for the future hives, sure to be moving in soon!
