so the track volume is peaking at -4.15 db but the master volume is peaking at -3.85 db. why is there a difference when there's only that one track playing?

If you look closely, his master isn't at 0dB, but at 0.3dB. That's why there's a difference.

Is it a good idea to put a limiter on the master while making a song or should you decrease the volume of individual tracks?
@yousuckatproducing7 жыл бұрын
decrease volume. Limiting should be the last thing you do.
@gabeholohan7 жыл бұрын
I put a limiter on my master track after everything has been mixed to make it sound beefier. If you need a limiter before the song is done your tracks are probably too hot. Thats just what I do

Bro, do you know why is it that everytime i finish a master version of a song it sounds just fine in the studio, but whe bass is all over the place when I play it in a car stereo or a bluetooth speaker? What can I do to anticipate this and/or compensate for how strong it is going to sound? appreciate any help. thnx!
@yousuckatproducing7 жыл бұрын
hmmm, if you know that your studio tends to have lower bass response than in the car or other speakers i would just keep that in mind during the mixing phase and lower your bass track accordingly.

Yo Underbelly, when you say the solid green bar is the average level of the clip I'm a little confused. If it was the average of the whole clip it would always be at the same level right? So what exactly is it representing? Is it like the average of a specific time interval or from that instant on or something? I know this vid is 4 and a half years old lol but if you or anyone sees this I'd be happy to learn
