Slovenia ranked 57th in the world by FIFA. Portugal ranked 6th. This caller 'how dare people expect Portugal to beat us'..... Watching football is more popular than playing it in India. Their main sports are cricket and hockey. In China, football obviously also has popularity as far as a spectator sport, but badminton, table tennis, swimming and basketball are more popular as far a national playing sport. Gymnastics is also very popular..where kids are sent at a very young age to learn. So they’re not all busy making iPhones lol!

Yeah population it’s a factor but other factors include how much the country spends on Grass routes football , academy’s, coaching etc . The Dutch 🇳🇱 are a country with a relatively small population but have been successful over the years . By investing loads of time and money on football.

Uruguay, Denmark, Holland and Portugal are only small countries but have done well internationally and won trophies; fair point. Uruguay 3.42 million Denmark 6.46 million Holland 17.67 million Portugal 10.90 million And then there are Australia and West Indies in the cricket. Australia has less than 40 percent the population size of the UK. I think some of it is down to having a winning mentality. England have historically usually been over cautious, we can’t hide from that.

The best team won, and the tournament are better off without them. Playing negative defensive football is not playing well,all they are doing is destroying the game. Slovenia,Slovakia,Poland, Serbia,Albania,Georgia,Czech, Ukraine. The tournament is much better off without that lot,how they qualify is baffling. And what's this nonsense when one of these teams wins a game by defending all game. Too much credit is given to these teams,its easier to destroy than create, and that's why they do it.

After the Portugal game they were praising Ronaldo saying “it was never in doubt” for scoring a penalty!!! And he missed the one in game. These euros have been soo boring. It’s becoming unwatchable.

tbh I can sympathize. Latvia is my favorite country and i'm British born and bred. I wouldn't say we "dominate every sport we play", but you support your fave countries like you support your club, doesn't matter whether you are 3 goals up or 3 goals down, you still support the team. That being said, you still need to live in the real world, and whilst I respect Slovenia and Latvia, we're not dominating shite. But it's always great to see them get far in a tournament or to scrape out alive against better teams.

We are very good at cycling, volleyball, winter sports, basket (Euro champs 4 years ago),... Football side is decent but doesn't come close to that of the late 90s/early 00s and even the one from late 00s
