I've never put peanut butter of any kind in the fridge ever my whole life, it's always been in the pantry...have eaten it even after being stored for up to year as a kid...tasted fine and never got sick once...I remember thinking how bazaar it was the first time I seen somebody put their peanut butter in the fridge...these days I go through it pretty quick and it's usually gone in a few months, but would still have no concerns whatsoever of useing it after several months...for me personally I consider unopened jars as having an indefinite shelf life....as a kid I've also ate plenty of in the shell nuts that were stored for years...some tasted a bit rancid after about 5 years, but still never got sick.

What I do is store it upside down at room temperature for at least a few days, open it, throughly incorporate the oil by carefully stirring with a butter knife then refrigerate upside down. After it's chilled, you can store it right side up. It should be smooth and not too hard to spread cold at that point.

I returned to this video to respond to the guy who said in comments he eats his peanut butter right out of the jar with a spoon. To that commenter, and to Mashed the uploader of this video, thank you! I'm nearly through this jar of peanut butter, and I don't think I'm past four days with the seal just broken. I started the suggestion by keeping the jar here at my desk, where I could observe the jar, and darned if it didn't work out just as described. I've been periodically treating myself to spoonfuls of this peanut butter, I just have to make sure I have plenty of beverage nearby just in case!

I buy and store pure peanut butter (nuts, seasalt) at room themperature. When I'm ready to open a jar, I take a strong dull stainless steel table knife that does not bend and stir it easily. Don't use a spoon or a mixer with plastic gears, lol. Then I put it in the fridge normally. It does not separate until consumed fully for at least a few weeks. I want to wash and use my jars later and don't want much oil on the lid. No need for such sensational claims in the title.

Give a fresh jar of natural peanut butter a comprehensive stir and immediately put it in the fridge. The peanut butter will take a couple of days to really get hard. When you want some, just take out the jar and leave it on the counter at room temperature for 10 minutes with the lid partially unscrewed and it'll then be spreadable enough. Afterwards, back in the fridge it goes. This is not inconvenient. All natural peanut butter tastes so much better than the typical peanut butter with a laundry list of unnecessary junk in it.

I get nothing but organic peanut butter, mix it with the electric beater, and store in the fridge. It never separates after that. The mixing it with the electric beater does require some careful handling to prevent a mess, but once you figure it out, there are no future messes. Start by holding the jar firmly and using low speed, then gradually raising it to higher speeds. Do not start mixing the entire jar by pushing the mixer down to the bottom. Start at the top gradually working it down to the bottom as you gradually use higher speeds.

JIF is it! I also believe peanut butter (and a lot of other foods) are good for much longer than jar states. I do check it for odor to be sure the oil hasn't started to get rancid. Past few years I have found even though I keep Welch' s jelly/jam in frig I have to watch it doesn't start to get mold up around lid. UGH!! Never had a problem till a couple years ago. Don't know what changed, it wasn't how often I use it or store it.

Take your favorite roasted peanuts, dump them into the quizeez a nard. Turn that sucker on for about a half hour. Might need a few more minutes to remove the final crunchy nut bits. This never separates and depending on your nut source might even be organic. No additives. Note: honey added in will make your butter taste better but, the butter will get much more stiff. Best to do that marriage just before consuming.

While at the checkout counter of a grocery store an employee insisted that I try their natural peanut butter which she said was much better than the Jiff I had placed in my cart. You should try it once. It's a bit of a pain, but I think the flavor is "pure peanut," whereas Jiff and Skippy et al. now taste too sweet to me, and a little "manufactured." I always set it on top of the coffee maker for a couple hours before I open a new jar; which gently warms the PB; then take about 3-5 minutes stirring it with a butter knife; store in refrigerator. I've never had a problem with it re-separating. In other words, there's 3-5 minutes of unhappiness at the beginning of a new jar, and after that, it's just better all the way round.

This is one of the few times I'll say something good about walmart and their own brand of natural peanut butter. I have been buying it for a few years now. It's always consistent. I don't ever have to stir it and the oil never separates. It's the least expensive and it's in a full size jar. Ingredients: Peanuts, Sugar, Palm oil, Salt. That's all. Sugar is only 3 grams. No molasses. No. I don't work for them, and I hate my local walmart store. But I will brag on things that I actually do like. Have to be fair.

BS on it being mixed after storing upside down a few days. It will be partially mixed, about half, and you will still need to vigorously stir, but it will be easier and faster. So yes, store upside down at least a couple days, but be prepared to stir to full mixture. Referring to crunchy and creamy Smucker's Natural, which is superb tasting. No need to refrigerate after opening, keep on counter at room temp, use within a week and its flavor and freshness will keep. BTW, I'm not a health nut, but read the ingredients on Smucker's Natural: PEANUTS. Now read ingredients on Peter Pan: NGREDIENTS: ROASTED PEANUTS, CORN SYRUP SOLIDS*, SUGAR, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE*, LESS THAN 2% OF: SALT, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS (COTTONSEED AND RAPESEED), MINERALS (MAGNESIUM OXIDE, ZINC OXIDE, IRON PHOSPHATE, COPPER SULFATE) AND VITAMINS (NIACIN, VITAMIN B6, FOLIC ACID). CONTAINS: PEANUTS, SOY.

Kraft makes an excellent all-natural crunchy PB. I always keep it in the fridge. When I wake up, the first thing I do before my shower, is take it out and put it on the counter. By the time I've finished my shower, it's already soft and ready to spread, after a quick stir.

Just because it says natural doesn't mean it's really natural. I always look at the ingredients. If it contains more then peanuts and salt it's not really natural. Sometimes you will see palm oil and molasses. Not for me.

@@michaelalguire419 No, the Kraft all natural is 100% natural. The label reads: Ingredients, 100% Select Roasted Peanuts.

Total bs. I never had a problem stirring my pb. BTW I don't trust a jar that says 'natural'. I only buy "peanuts and a little salt and that's all". Refrigerate? Only after it's opened and stirred. Doesn't matter if it needs refrigeration, it's otherwise runny and will settle again. That's been the only pb I buy for 30 years, ever since Laura Scudder's hit the shelves. Not my brand anymore, since it's expensive, and there are others that are less expensive and still perfectly acceptable.

For those of you who are commenting sarcastically about how they are surprised there hasn't been a video telling us we breath wrong: Trust me, most people are definitely breathing wrong without realizing it. And doing so causes health issues as well as anxiety etc...
