His final words: "My last symphony has finished, my violin has broken and the applause is over, it's time to lower the curtain... Dear friend, I hope you enjoyed the show."

It's actually insane how you can just fight this guy right at the start of the game if you talk to and exhaust the rest of the old man's dialogue then chose the fencer option "The fencer? Hmm not much is really known about them but I don't quite like him. He's too... Verbose." "Oh I much prefer the term grandiloquent myself." Best surprise boss intro of all time

I know like 2 other people will see this, but this whole tuba as helmet inspired me to make a whole Dnd campaign consisting of 4 kingdoms, percussion, winds, brass, and strings, utilizing magical instruments that mimic the old modern technology from centuries past (as in the campaign's world timeline). Dumb looking armor that give great boosts and instruments of mass destruction on par to the nuclear bomb. I seriously owe a lot to the dumb memes and songs for inspiring the dumbest but the most expansive and interesting dnd campaign I've ever thought up of.

My favorite bossfight. The lead up builds so much suspense as his melody gets more erratic before you come into the courtyard where he stands. Then his first phase with the water elementals as he adjusts his melody to reflect how well your faring. And the second phase where you actually fight him is just chefs kiss.

between the character design, his lore and his battle theme, the Corrupted Violinist was my favorite character in the entire game

I imagine this would be a hidden and really difficult Boss, that one boss that abuses every single mechanic in the game to make your life hell.

You finally made it through to the doors leading to the auditorium of this dilapidated opera house, when as you're standing in front of the old wooden doors, a somber violin chord sounds from the other side. This must be it. The Stringed Assassin. Death's Violinist. The Devil's Musician. And so many other monikers that those of Orchestria whisper in fear of this hitherto unseen threat, only his crimes are known. You open the doors, and standing upon the stage is a figure in classical finery, if not with an almost militaristic look to them sawing on a violin. The figure has a white mask that obscured their face as a wispy, black smoke trails off the ends of their fingers and beneath their mask, and their violin appears to be smoldering as if it was set on fire not long ago, yet is still operational, if the haunting melody being played is to go by. The old wooden doors slam shut behind you and a booming noise echoes in the auditorium that was once filled with music, stopped from the sudden intrusion. The figure turns to you, facing you and you feel yourself being appraised or... judged. "Ah. You must be the Maestro," it intones, a seemingly male voice rasps out. Stangely, it doesn't even sound muffled by the mask, but it has a very airy sound to it. "And what do I call you?" you respond back to it, a hand resting on the baton at your waist. The figure chuckles, a sinister and troubling sound. "Devil. Bastard. Traitor. Musician. Call me what you wish, it matters not to me. What I do care for... is you." "Me? Why?" "What's there not to mention! Your successful struggles against the Brass Kingdom, toppling over the greatest military might on the continent with barely any assistance, the countless bodies laying cold behind you... Truly, your reputation precedes you, Maestro." You scoff. "Please, not this again. Another scoundrel who thinks they know the sacrifices and hardships I went through and the lives I saved, the people made happier now that I've done my work." It chuckles again and draws a long, slow note on the blackened violin in its hands before ending with a flourish. "Oh, no, I wouldn't do something so pointless. How useless it is to tarry and mope over decisions long past. Truly, I think your work is a masterpiece." "Then why provoke me? You knew that I couldn't just let you get away with what you're doing, right? That's what this is: a chance to come face to face with me." Beyond chuckling, it laughs heartily this time, stomping its feet in the closest it can get to clapping while having its hands full. "HAHA! I knew you wouldn't disappoint! Fantastic, just fantastic!" it shouts out before stilling suddenly. "Yes, you would be correct. I did mean to lure you here." "Do you actually think you can beat me?" "Oh, I'm sure I can try. Many have tried before me, with perhaps even more gusto and have fallen flat." "And you think you're different?" The black smoke streaming from its body seems to roil thicker at the comment, what was now a wispy and mist-like haze now is a variable fog of darkness. The figure puts the bow to the stings of the violin and draws a chilling high note as a trail of the fog drifts from the instrument. "I'm a bit more than... different." The figure then goes lower on the violin and begins the starting chords of a powerful song. You ready your baton, pointing it at the violinist. "Maestro... I'm your encore."

A campaign I'm currently in for DnD 5e used this track for our ex-Mayor turned corrupt violin vigilante after his wife and child were lost in a demon attack. The raw emotion within this song definitely helped purvey the desperation Drev (the npc's in question) to cling onto life and avenge his kin. Truly great

Honestly a dark souls like game where its entirely based on musical rythem sounds amazing. On New Game+ all the boss themes and minor enemy themes get remixed while still staying familiar to catch players who lackadaisically go into the fights.

Arguably the best character in the game. I love his comment on when you have the violin equipped in his fight. I think it was something like "Oh? A fellow musician I suppose? Well then, let us see who has truley mastered this beautiful instrument. En garde!" if I'm not mistaken.

He stood upon the dusty marbled floor, the collapsed roof giving way for the bright moonlight, striking the figure's mask, glinting the golden embroideries and linings of his armor, complimenting his white gloves and black torso, he breaks off from his trance, seemingly fully engrossed in his art, the pulling and pushing of his bow, resembling that of a fencer's sword, he would stop entirely, looking up at you, he cocks his head to the side, amused, he stepped forward, continuing his piece, malice seeping from the smile adorning his mask, shifting his body in what can be described as robotic, you pull away your cloak from the scabbard, resting your hand upon the black hilt of your longsword, vengeance for House Bumor is now.

A sword master using his sword aura in tune with music after years of mastery. The violin of twisted fate echoing the cries of hope. This is a foe that is beyond you. Roll for initiative.

Paired with the ominous silence during the interaction and the world slowly getting more and more corrupted with every press, chills when I read that text. What an atmosphere this game has.

Sorry im late to the party but from what I gathered : you should pick the second option to not betray him during the brass kingdom area, he will try to kill you later game anyway. If you do betray him I would pick the piano class, of which he takes 40% more damage against piano users. he is corrupt so try not to use flute or shamisen or any other purity instrument during the fight (you can It would just take longer)

The title fits him. I can imagine him saying, "Oh, but you wanted this." before killing you

This guy should be a playable character just because of his design.

I loved the scene were he and his orchestra army played while heading into battle each new part added as more and more soldier's feet hit the ground. Truly grand.

I just played in a dnd session where our DM made a boss battle specifically inspired by finding this song. The enemy was some twisted Fae entity who was killing performers at an Opera House because he wanted to be the only performer. We fought on the stage of the opera house and the battle music for this battle was this song put on a loop. He was a level 17 Bard who summoned marionettes to debuff us while he continued playing his song, and he had layer actions to change the tune of his song and apply a debuff to all of us

"Alas, I may be corrupt, but my music is as pure as ever"

The Corrupted Violin Fencer was honestly the worst and trickiest mid boss to fight compared to the Tuba boss army when you reach the Brass Kingdom territory. His second phase AOE attack form, Orchestrated Maestro, is near impossible to evade let alone endure. And don’t even get me started on his final form, The Sterling Seraph which figuring out how to deal with permanently raised my blood pressure from the overall complications of that fight. Beware anyone who reaches that point.

I love how his attacks are in perfect sinc with the music, and his character model is actually playing the violin during the fight, such a cool boss.

And as the Fencer kneels, his violin broken on the ground, the great concert hall echoes with his sad laughter. « Thanks for this grand finale! Never have I been so happy to see the curtains fall!» His hands start shattering, and he looks at them as his laugh fades « What a finale... and yet nothing. Not even one applause... Isn’t it ironic? » You turn around and rise your hands before clapping. The sound resonates through the room and the Fencer raises his head to you as he continues to slowly dissolve into a black smoke that whistles a sad melody. He looks at you, and though the eyes of his mask are empty, a shiny tear drops from the emptiness of his gaze. And as he finally fades, he whispers softly: « Thank you, for this last performance. » The smoke starts swirling as its whistle grows more and more intense. It gathers in a spiral of strings, that flies to the broken violin and rises it in the air, as the sad melody becomes stronger and stronger. The melody fades, as the violin descends into your hands, reforged and vibrating with a sad tone. Through the now opened doors, the Tuba King's castle wails its sad and twisted symphony on the horizon. You open you eyes as your hand grips the instrument. Now, it’s time for your own finale.

Just saying, this is one of the most well written boss fights in the Chronicles series, honestly. The small but noticeable violin strings connecting him to the audience is a masterpiece (pun intended) but i was struggling for a bit wondering why he kept disabling my abilities, if your fighting him, i suggest using the pan flute for a summoner multiclass build, but as a flute it counts as a purity instrument so be careful of his debuffs, just don't pick any aggressive ones, or the violin, that rival buff he gets is downright a ruiner to hardcore 100% runs, and quick reminder, only attack if he's down with his hand off the violin, so you don't get faked outwhile he's still at 60%, the last thing you want is to have the bleed debuff right as he enters his second phase because you got too confident

I am the Maestro of Mayhem, The Fiddler of Fighting! I refuse to go down to an untalanted clarinet such as yourself! Again! Raise the curtains! Set the stage! We move to the final act!! I do hope you can keep up!" "Mr. Zimmer? I spit upon the feet of your ignoble synthesizer. The Lord of this Realm, Williams, will have his due and me, your blood!! Attack, you damn, dirty pirate!!"

So what I've been collecting: He hates having his recitals getting interrupted. He stays in the middle of a forest, practicing his song day and night. His strenght comes from the deathly howls of the fallen. He's a lone fighter, and rumors of warriors meeting their demise under his hand has spread all over town. Every single note he plays has his raw emotion engraved onto it. What a savages boss

As you stare into the eyes of a once cheerful man, now broken down by a dark mist that follows him. Only a truly skilled and worthy musician can rival this man and survive to tell how he compliments your work. However the unfortunate ones fall to his notes of harmonic despair as each note filled with compassion slowly rotting into hatred sadness and the fear of being stuck in a jail he was forced into unwillingly for all eternity just to play the song of a man who truly is jack of all aces when it comes to music and yet he repeats the same words upon meeting a stranger , " Are you skilled yet worthy enough to free me?" The words are said in a almost defeated tone but with a small glimmer of hope he will one day be freed from his cell and make works of art so beautiful that even a baby understands its meaning. Myth goes around he is still looking for the one who will be his salvation but to no avail he keeps searching.

“This may be my final sonata for the ages of my story that shall be told all across the world. But I shall rest knowing my true concerto shall live on in history for millennia.” That line hit different after beating such a challenging fight, bravo to the creators.

I can’t help but feel like that this should be some super-emotional fight against a better-than-average party member that’s been with you for most of the game.

Someone please make this into a real game. Seeing all these backstories and lore for this character that's literally just a single (well-drawn) image with incredible well-composed music is truly amazing. It makes me so sad that there isn't an actual game put together with this and I YEARN for it so bad

I've been stuck at this boss for like 2 hours

I love the indicator for the most replayed part being a straight ascent, meaning people are immediately putting it back to the beginning as soon as it ends!

I cannot tell how much this character inspires me. I decided to make him one of the main characters of my campaign. Always here. Always sowing Chaos. Why ? Who knows. Does he even know ? One thing's for sure : he is POWERFUL. May it be in raw magical powers, or in information / scheming, humans rarely even notice him, Gods fear him. What the hell is under that mask ? Can't wait to let my players discover him !!

This randomly showed up in my home page at the perfect time and helped me over a writing hump. I’m helping a friend build a universe for an RPG she’s running with an existential horror theme, and this INSPIRED me. I did indeed want this.

Practicing that same song he's been practicing for all these years."

I imagine he never stops playing in the midst of a battle, so he mainly does deadly barrage kicks and uses his music as a conduit to cast magic

He seems like a general who never expected to be on the front lines, who supplied the music for his troops, who was singed by the flame of battle, and who decided to fashion his prized violin in a weapon
