This lesson gives you the KEY to improving your English pronunciation. We discuss why many English-language learners have difficulties in this area, my method to make dramatic improvements, and some extra tips to help you get this right.
New here? Subscribe to the channel and then, download my book for free:
www.tofluency.com/5-step-plan/
Or dive right in and start my program here:
www.tofluency.com/tfp/
Many learners struggle with pronunciation because language schools don't put enough emphasis on this. You don't learn how to make the different sounds of English and you don't get feedback on this area.
To improve, here is what to do:
1. Learn how to make the different sounds of English. Here is a free resource: soundsofspeech.uiowa.edu/main... - you also get a guide inside my fluency program.
2. Practice and get feedback. You can hire a teacher to help you or record your own voice and compare your version to the original.
3. Get long-term practice. Build that muscle memory in your mouth!
4. Get natural practice so that you put everything together.

Hi Jack. It's good to see another of your videos again. Even though I have difficulties with many sounds in English, one of the most difficult to me is, as you explain here, the difference between "van & ban" you know that as a Spanish speaker these sounds turn to be hard to do for us because we find them quite similar. I hope it makes sense what I am saying. I am 100 % sure that most Spanish speakers have also the same issue.

According to my mother tongue I used to have a problems with TH, P sound, I work on it and I'm trying to avoid any pronunciation problems, by reviewing from time to time on TFP. the thing is that there is no Standart pronunciation in English speaking countries, for example people on the east coast speak differently than those on the West coast of the United States. I m sure likewise in the UK too. in advanced teaching courses, we are not dwelling on pronunciation as much as before though. 😁

I am sure that the learner needs to develop an inteligible pronunciation due to the varieties of English there are around the world. That is why, I think that the most important thing is focused on the production of an accurate pronunciation to be understood by the interlocutor. To do this, it is important to prectise every day in order to achieve this goal which is very determinat when English is the language meta.
