Man ..I have been playing tennis for 5 years now, started when I was 25, before that I played for 6-7 years as a junior, always had good touch, my fh was my best shot... Then when I started at 25 again I had this massive takeback and if I timed the shot well it always turned out as a great shot...then something happened, I started missing my timing, my forehand was whole lot of spin with no pace, I was late on the shot and I had to improvise mid shot, my arm was hurting, got a coach that didn't help at all... Yesterday I found this video... I made this little change ...now I have a massive fh again... It's crazy, it made me love tennis again... Thank you so much man, best tip I ever got for my fh...❤

A mark of knowledge is the ability to explain complicated subject matter with simplicity. Thanks for the example, I'm going to implement this & show it to my players

THANK YOU! I cannot describe how helpful this video was for me. I started playing tennis two years ago, and I always struggled with my forehand, more specifically the backloop that every tennis coach preaches. Today, I shortened the movement range and I tried to always to tap the dog. I focused on the follow through below the shoulder also. The result: today when playing my forehand behaved as the monster that it should always have been. Keep making these good videos!

This is very good. I worry that many examples of the modern forehand will lead to injuries and are not useful for club and older players. You are a young guy who clearly has a big future in teaching an accessible system

dear Coach.. I am now 62, stopped playing maybe 30 yrs ago. did try to pick up the game maybe arnd 2015 but gave up because I ws overthinking - overwhelmed by the modern tennis instructions. About 2 months ago, I started playing tennis with my wife's tennis group - can't keep up with them, i am a tad slow in getting ready n getting to the ball, even on forehand. Then .. came your dear video - the best i to solve my issue to get 'ready' for the ball .. 'all in ONE setup'.. brilliant..!! Can't wait to try it.. I've shadow workout, feels great. tQ tQ tQ Coach, keep up the great instructions. Razak- from Malaysia.

Mannarino is the perfect example of this. The simplest technique on the ATP Tour. 😎👍
@Yon358

Mannarino's quite a tricky example. It's actually only possible for him to have such compact swing cause he's using extremely low tension on his racquet strings. Something like 24lbs/11kg. In other case he wouldn't be able to generate so much power with so little movement.

@@Yon358Mannarino is using an incredible low tension now, 18.5 lb.

Well done!! Unfortunately I have no muscle memory to rely on when it comes to tennis. Your explanations simplify the mechanics of the swing so well that I don’t get overwhelm trying to remember every detail!!!

I completely agree with everything except that your body starts the movement, watch the players in slow motion, the very first thing they do when they start the swing is the racket head drops below the hand, in one fluid motion and thats what starts the lag the body doesn't move first

I've watched this video so many times now. The one thing that I'm confused about is the Pat the Dog. Do you unit turn straight into Pat the Dog or do you Unit turn with your racket up and then drop it into Pat the Dog?

this is what I'm wondering as well. I play with full western and I'm not changing it either. A lot of coaches will tell us to change our grip.
