YOU WILL NEVER THROW AWAY BANANA PEELS AFTER WATCHING THIS - VEGAN MEATLESS MEATBALLS
Another meal using the banana peel: You will never throw away banana peels after watching this - vegan meatballs. This is a simple and inexpensive dish you can make in a few minutes. The fact that it is made with banana peel is almost as fantastic as the fact that it is nutritious and beyond tasty!
🍅 Recipe for the bolognese/tomato sauce: • Vegan spaghetti bologn...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
👉 This works even better if you put the mixture in the fridge for a few (2 to 24) hours before cooking. :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INGREDIENTS: YOU WILL NEVER THROW AWAY BANANA PELLS AFTER WATCHING THIS - VEGAN MEATLESS MEATBALLS
- 3 peels from large greenish bananas, scrape the white inside part, discard it then finely chop the peels.
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/3 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp paprika
- salt
- pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 TBSP flaxseed in 4 TBSP water
- Tomato passata or tomato sauce
DIRECTIONS:
- Make your flax egg by mixing the flaxseed and water, reserve
- add all the ingredients except the passata, the oil and the vegan parmesan in a mixing bowl, mixt tit then form small balls
- line them in an oiled sheet and refrigerate for 2 up to 24 hours
- add the passata to a pan, turn the heat to medium, wait until the sauce simmers, then and add the banana peel balls, gently and don't crowd the pan otherwise, the balls might stick together. It is VERY important that the sauce is hot, the balls are cold and you must NEVER overcrowd the pan otherwise the balls will fall apart.
- you can fry the balls or bake them in the oven if you prefer, it takes 5 minutes to fry on each side, flipping two or three times or 25-30 minutes in the oven in 375 F.
It can be frozen but separately from the sauce. Freezes well for up to 3 months.
This recipe was inspired by Bela Gils banana meatballs, watch the recipe here: • Almôndegas DE CASCA DE...

I tried this recipe last night, and it blew me away. The look, texture, and taste were all spot on. With every bite, my taste buds were waiting for a hint of banana but nothing. I added the extra liquid before first mixing, but it was too wet, so I added more breadcrumbs Which made me yield 18 meatballs instead of the 12-13 you suggested. I will definitely try the pull pork recipe next. I can't figure out how to post a photo can anyone help?

Years ago, I made the mistake of freezing bananas without peeling them first. It was not fun, trying to peel them later. But you live and learn. I never knew you could use the peels, althought I used to blend them with water and feed to my rose bush. If you buy rose food, it smells very strongly of bananas. They are good for discouraging insects from eating the rose bushes. We were never taught in school about the way that Mother Nature provides for us. What a rip off it was, thinking we were learning everyhting important that we needed to know. Better late than never, we now have you tube and wonder tutors like you and Steve the bread man, (that's what I call him) and God bless all of our wonderful cooks and bakers and gardeners who share their knowledge and experience with us.

I just tried this recipe and WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS? I didn’t have tomatoes so I just fried them instead and added parsley into the mixture. Since I went vegan I was searching for a meatball recipe but they would always turn into a mush but this crisped up so well and the taste of them was amazing. I only fried one of the meatballs to try how they tasted there’s a bunch of them in the fridge for the next day I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THE DINNER!!! Thank you so much Jana and thanks youtube for recommending you to me

"I don't know why people they don't want you to use your hand in the kitchen" because they say the is the most dirty... Picture it you go to bathroom we all know what do we do there... And we know sometimes we get into accidents like u didn't take enough toilet paper.... And some people they don't wash their hands properly and when u are cooking away you're sweating I know some people are going to say sweat it doesn't matter u can sweat without realizing it like under arm u don't realize it until u get home. Hand are like that... And how many times u c ppl finished to use a bathroom and just walk away? Or just simply go to the washing area and turn the water on one second later they're done. Because of all those reasons that's ppl get disgusted especially if u are touching the food they are going to eat... I myself I dread going out to eat for three reasons the cost, the food I'm about to eat how many ppl have touched? And would it be worth it?
@thenormallife1138

@@prossynannyanzi7072 yew that's when you eat out. You never know what people are doing. I for one wash my hands b4 I cook or b4 I do anything at all in the kitchen. If I go to the restroom I wash my hands there then was my hands in the kitchen b4 cooking. So I don't see the issue with using my hands. Especially if I'm cooking my own food. Breadmakers have to use their hands too kneed. Sushi is made with your hands. People only get freaked out when its a messy food you are using you hands for.

Hi Jana, I tried the recipe ... had to substitute milled chia seeds for flax seeds, and ginger for nutmeg ... and it was awesome!! My only advise is that the dish is best served hot rather than warm (tried it both ways when I went back for seconds!), but ultimately I would say a huge success ... looking forward to more of your recipes! I literally followed it step by step ... didn’t prefry anything ... served at a dinner party & went down a treat! I also added 4 balls to the air fryer just to see what they were like out of the sauce ... they got crispy, but did not taste as good as those added to the sauce initially ... my daughter thought they tasted like onion bhaiji 😅 It’s great to see recipes that I can actually make tasty vegan options from what I have at home 💕 Keep up the good work!!

A good mixture to use to clean the banana of pesticides is a solution of water, a bit of vinegar and salt. Soak the *whole, uncut fruit* in the solution for 5-10 minutes and rinse well. Then, you will have peels safe for consumption whether they’re organic or not :) If you need more info about this technique, Dr Michael Mcgregor is on KZfaq and has covered this topic.

I made both the bolognese and the banana peel meatballs, SO GOOD! The texture of the meatballs did come out a little gummy, but I think this may be because I used panko instead of the regular breadcrumbs. Despite that one fault (which was my own), I loved it. Great taste, and not a single hint of banana. Thank you Chef Jana for such a great recipe and your adorable videos!

When i was growing up, we’d dry the (green/unripe) peels and then grind them into a powder and use as flour. Some others would slice them into strips snd make a porridge. I moved to the USA and realised i can never consume banana peels here. No Ma’am. Can’t trust anything here. But this is a fantastic video. Well done.

Yes it is a shame here in the US. We can't even trust the food if it claims to be organic. The FDA is paid off by the food industry. Just one more way the US has changed.

@Osiwan960

@@kj285 i know, it makes sense and it's "normal" for some people but sometimes we have to change our view of "normal". like, 100 years ago, many horrible behaviors were considered "normal" but today they are completely unacceptable. for me i just can't stand the word meat in any situation...it reminds me too much of animals and the terrible way they are treated. everyday i question the "norm" and a lot of it makes no sense to me. like cars, trucks, airplanes, rockets,etc..., they are "normal" for most people but for me they are the evil destruction of our planet and we might go extinct because of them. =)

I have a question.......if you use a ripen peel can you use a hotter spice and or acid to balance the sweet? I want to try this because I don't like waste. There is so many things in nature that can nurture us.
@ChefJana
@ChefJana 5 жыл бұрын
Vicky, you can still use the greener bananas in smoothies, or just as you normally would, or in cakes and all... But if you only like ripe bananas, you can still make it but scrape the peel some more, it will be thinner so you'll need more peels. and if you make the banana peel pulled no pork that I've shown here, even better, because the bbq sauce compliments the occasional sweetness from the ripe peel. the link for the vid is here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pb-Ai86jvN-bmY0.html Let me know what you made and the results! 🥰
