And I currently am a Family and Consumer sciences teacher teaching fashion design and while this is a “trick” he sewed it unevenly on both sides. Not fool proof.

I learned this method of sewing zippers in Home Ec class over 45 years ago. Good to see it's still a great way to sew zips!

@lilolmecj The way to ensure a perfect center using this method is to open the zipper first. Put the right side of the open zipper face down and position the now visible zipper teeth directly on top of the center seam. Sew only the right side. When you reach the end, leave the needle down, close the zipper, then continue applying the zipper as shown here. The zipper will now be centered.

This is by far the best sewing tip I have EVER seen. 👍 Why didn't I see this 20 years ago?? 😅 I stopped making clothes because I HATED putting zippers in. 😊

I use wonder tape you can get it in different widths. I usually use the quarter inch. The dollar tree even has something very similar in the craft section.

It’s good that you might take up sewing again after watching this, but I would not wear a garment that had a zipper that looks so bad. It is uneven and the sides are not really wide enough to hide the pull neatly.

@@lesleymcneill1403 even if he didn’t have time to press the seam open he should have put that up on the screen some people don’t know enough to figure that out and then they get frustrated because things aren’t working

Прочитав комментарии, делаю вывод - шить умеют только русские. Брак сразу увидели. Нас даже в школе на уроках труда лучше шить учили.

Точно, я училась в школе в 80-е годы, учитель по труду была профессионалом, научила нас всему. Руки до сих пор помнят, как вшить молнию, сделать листочку на кармане. Учила нас моделированию любых изделий Благодарна за эту науку на всю жизнь. Шью для себя понемногу, это ценное умение, очень пригодилось.

Проутюжить шов и приметать молнию, а если проутюжить, то можно просто приложить, тогда и строчка ровная будет. А это называется на коленке сделано.

Wonderful - This was exactly how I was taught in the 70’s with the exception of the masking tape which is a great idea. I wish I could find a really narrow foot for my machine. Yours looks just the job. Thanks for the video ❤

It looked like a great idea except the line of stitching at the top by the zipper head was wider because you didn't move the zipper head out of the way

My home economics teacher Taught me how to put the zipper in like this with the same and it made it so much easier. I didn't know about the tape I'm definitely goning to try that when I Put in another zipper. Thank you for sharing. This is a demonstration I know you don't have everything Perfect right here And it still needs to be ironed. I'm so sorry for all the negative comments. Can't you take what people give you and appreciate it and do better on it without having to criticize.. 1 thing I have Learned in 72 years is The word Gratitude Not criticize.
