I love being reminded of my Dad who I lost a few years ago. The “we’re not air conditioning the whole out of doors”. Turn the lights off, etc. But reminds me of what a great Dad he was. I miss him. Thanks for the reminder

Ice storm in 08 up in northern maine took out my powerlines alright. We had 2 massive eastern white pine trees in the dooryard, probably 2ft or more in diameter, 60-80ft tall. Some of the big branches on that thing were the size of 20-30 year trees. The ice weighed em down so much that 2 or 3 of them snapped off the trunk, landed right across the lines from the pole to the house. Bent the pole on the house down around the edge of the roof. Out of power for weeks. Hell of a clean up too.

My living area now is underground (basement), and it get's cold down here. If I run heat down here, once in a while my grandmother will come down wearing thermal ware and complain saying 70 degrees is too hot for anyone to live in (most of the world population lives in areas much hotter than 70 degrees F), but they keep the thermostat at 69 degrees in the autumn and winter and 72-73 spring and summer.

the snowstorm prep is the one that got me. there is a plus side to it being false. in my opinion if you have the money and space to store a whole survival shed then you should. not for anything like nuclear zombie apocalypse but just for anything. people thought I was stupid for having a basement stash of preserves but guess 2 events it saved me in. #1: covid, I had extra toilet paper and other things the stores were out of. and 2#: my injury and being off work (I actually watched the construction skits vid and left a comment about that there 15 minutes or so ago) if I had to rely on food and toilet paper I bought when I needed it I'd be spending thousands on delivery apps and possibly wiping my ass with my sheet music notes, even the ones I have new material written on.
