I really like the way this movie portayed magic and the occult, as this dirty, squalid, dangerous world that runs alongside the worlds of crime and drugs and trafficking, and its adherents are just as messed up as any gangster or druggie or death cult.

This is the 3rd and final movie Clive Barker has written and directed himself ( the 1st two were Hellraiser and Nightbreed, both adapted from his books The Hellbound Heart and Cabal respectively)

Well, as to D'Amour's further adventures, he gets involved in a cross-dimensional dream quest to prevent beings of chaos and madness from devouring our world down to the last atom in the novel Everville. And after that li'l adventure, he faces off with Pinhead himself in Hell in the novel The Scarlet Gospels. The Last Illusion, which this flick is based on, was sort of a warm-up for D'Amour.

Well, Clive Barker was an executive producer on the film, _Gods and Monsters,_ which was about James Whale, the director of _Frankenstein_ and _The Bride of Frankenstein._ It stars Ian McKellan, Brendan Fraser, and Lynn Redgrave. He also wrote and directed the short film, _Salome,_ which may be hard to find, though.

Glad to know that there is someone else out there who appreciates this film. Harry D’Amour is actually an occasional recurring character in the writings of Clive Barker. Although I am a Hellraiser fan, for me the best Clive Barker film is Night Breed. I would recommend the directors cut. If you are looking for a low budget rubber monster film, you might find Rawhead Rex an entertaining Clive Barker film.

0:34 Don't forget Nightbreed (which ties in with the Hellraiser mythos). 4:15 (mandrill) 9:44 Not sawed-off. IMFDB doesn't have an article for this movie, but I think it's a Mossberg 500 Cruiser. 14:44 Just like in Killer Klowns from Outer Space! 17:17 Illuminati-style owls. 19:38 Give her some radishes! Or slice up a turnip or a tomato and add just a pinch of sea salt. 25:01 That's not how you do a McMillan Tilt. 32:06 Death breath! 34:15 Pineal gland, maybe? 38:11 Cross-thumb technique is only useful with a single-action revolver and that's a double-action. 43:32 Nightbreed

Butterfield's skinhead friend, Ray, is no demon, he's very much human, he's just a dusthead. Basically he's so high on PCP, or angel dust, that his nerves are entirely numb, so he feels NO PAIN AT ALL. So he can tear his way through a wooden door with his fingers and fall three stories and not even notice he's suffered massive compound fractures until hours later.

As far as i understood, the mask,Swann put on the head of Nix,was some kind of magical artifact, whose purpose was to incapacitate mages, like Nix,and deactivate their powers. But it isn't clear,if Swann made this mask himself,or this is some ancient artifact, created, for example,in the times of maximal activity of Holy Inquisition.

Actually, in the very beginning of the movie if you'll notice there's a cabbage patch doll laying on the ground, and that was in 1982, I'm assuming the house was supposed to be old. But the thing is, they probably wouldn't have been a cabbage patch doll laying out there in the desert at an old dilapidated house at that time, not 1982 . They really didn't start selling until 1983, but they were invented in 1982.😂😂😂😂
