This video is about How to use the Young Feather Burner. I use this often in my shop. In this video I share some of my tips and tricks for its use. Using a burner opens up many fletching options including butt spliced feathers for your traditional arrows.

This video sounds and smells just like my shop! Notice I didn't say looks, because your shop is way more organized and cleaner than mine tends to be. Great info on burning, especially the feather jigs! Ill be adding that tip to my Fletching arsenal! Thanks

Thanks Joe. I really appreciate the feedback. Making arrows is a true passion of mine. A raw shaft is my canvas for art and functionality. They will shoot as good as they look.

Dang I just commented about burning the feather shape in your other video and then this came up. So they still make a burner after 60 year. Think my cousins was home made. One comment "pew" the smell.

Instead of glue - I use glass bond. It’s made for holding beads on glass. It covers that sharp point on the feather and protects the fletch if the arrow goes under the grass. You can get it at any crafts store.

Just following up on my last comment , Andy..I'm making an Elven shaped feather .with three points from one curve to the next .Is it possible to form at the apex to a point and not a radius .I'll find out eventually..Thank you .How about a video on cresting.Most importantanly how you manipulate your brush once you withdraw the paint from the bottle.I'm thinking that you lay the brush on a piece of paper and draw it back until the brush is flat.

It is possible but I think it will be noisy for hunting. If you making them for targets, they may sound really cool. I do have a cresting video in my wood arrow class. You are correct, when I’m going for a really fine line I smash the brush into a “blade” shape.
