EVERY Mel Brooks film has to be watched MORE THAN ONCE because there were a plethora of sight gags and throwaway lines in the script that sailed right by the viewers..watching 3 or 4 times..you laugh in unexpected parts of the movie...THE GENIUS OF MEL BROOKS...

I remember seeing Blazing Saddles at the Drive In in '74 and can still recall hearing laughter coming from nearby cars as if we were sitting next to each other at a Comedy show; haven't experienced that kind of shared joy since, but how can you go wrong when Richard Pryor is one of the writers.

It's no exaggeration at all to state "Blazing Saddles" is one of the greatest comedies ever. There's major talent in the film and they made it work. It's a brilliant film. And absolutely hilarious.

Oh, I don’t know about that. Maybe not in your opinion but Slim Pickens, Gene Wilder, McCormick and Kahn we’re all VERY well known AND liked at this time. I particularly liked Madeleine in fact. Lol. I was a growing boy! Lol. They were certainly the reason I couldn’t wait to see Blazing Saddles as a preteen. I knew it was going to be good. This was also at a time that Wilder and Pryor we’re enjoying so much box office success for their comedies together so Wilder was no small deal. Even Brooks was well known to me at my young age for good comedic movies. No disrespect intended. They might have not expected the movie to be quite as successful as it ended up being but to say there was no major talent in the movie is simply wrong by any metric.

The "N" word was used just as much as black, African American, and such. In fact, I remember when I was in college in a sociology class, I remember distinctly a professor said that the "N" word, as bad at it was, was used as a term of endearance. We've got a ways to go but I'd far far rather live in today's world, as politically toxic as it may be, over the days that Blazing Saddles was set.

Nature has saddled us with different sexes and there are enough differences between men and women that we are very nearly made up of two entirely different species. What needs to happen is that our natures be faced with COMPLETE honesty and that is not happening. Gone are the days when one could casually say the word "wop" when addressing anything Italian. I can remember the day when people of Polish extraction were referred to affectionately as "Pole-acks;." People of Bohemian extraction were called "bohunks." We as a people have become entirely too sensitive to honesty and honest language.

I will never forget queuing in Glasgow Scotland to see this movie, it got a standing ovation at the end. First time I witnessed this at the movies. This movie had a major impact on the culture , just about everyone used a line from the movie in everyday language.

Mel Brooks had the amazing sensibility to know what controversial cultural issues he could play with, without going too far over the line. Despite how some jokes would be slammed as "racist" today, they're still funny because of the context. Mel knew how to walk that fine line.

I went with my best friend to see this. I started laughing from the beginning and literally couldn't stop. I was crying, I laughed so hard. She enjoyed it but was absolutely embarrassed by my laughter. I had never seen anything SO outrageous and I loved every minute!!

This was my first R rated movie and I was 8. The theater was packed and it was rockin the whole time. The biggest laughs came with the fart scene. The place literally rumbled with everyone laughing. Interestingly, the scene that follows is a bright, sunny desert scene and hanging over the whole audience was a thick cloud of cigarette smoke...

I used to work with a guy who basically described it the same way. He was the manager of the theater and he said inside the first 20 minutes you were either laughing your head off or you were back at the ticket window demanding a refund. There was nothing in between.

The funniest movie of all time-nothing else is close-I saw it at the Patterson Theater in Baltimore on Eastern Avenue. laughed so hard i cried. My sides hurt by the end of the movie. Harvey Korman was terrific and so was Slim Pickens. It is the gold standard of comedy movies.

In 1972 had a former girlfriend call me to say we had to see a move together. She sad the movie was me. I laughed so hard at Blazing Saddles i could hardly breath. Went back to see it the next night, alone. If I ever see her again, i will thank her for introducing be to this classic.

One of my friends had cable TV back when this came out in the 70's and 'Blazing Saddles' played repeatedly all day on a Movie Channel. I have the original 'Blazing Saddles' on DVD. I love watching it over and over many times.

I think. My favourite of the scenes in this segment are the approach to the town and the nod to the bandstand. That they were rally There Playing that song So perfectly & that furthermore, both horse and rider are in top form is veritably sublime. A blessing duly reverenced by so many otherwise entirely sensible ppl!

In the history of all humankind this work must be treated as a testament to the spirit of how we are to coexist with all peoples of the world. By not taking ourselves seriously and enjoying how silly we are, this film makes me glad to be alive.

In 1974 I was 13 years old. My little brother and a friend went to the Serramonte 6 to see the Green Hornet movie. When it ended, we snuck into the theater showing Blazing Saddles. I remember the campfire scene to this day, more than the Green Hornet movie. Love Mell Brooks!!!

When Blazing Saddles hit our local theater, my friends and I were in line to see the first showing. The theater was full, but most were not prepared for what ensued. We were well familiar with Mel Brooks movies and were falling over laughing when the theater was stony silent. The farting scene was the first place where anyone besides us laughed. People got up and left, particularly one couple who had three small children... what were they thinking? Its a Mel Brooks movie! We saw it again in a few weeks (no vcrs or dvds) and word must have gotten out because the whole place fell apart laughing. Best comedy I have seen..except perhaps for Young Frankenstein...

i EXPERIENCED A INCIDENT LIKE THAT, WATCHING A SCENE FROM ''OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR'' , WHERE TWO DRUNKS WERE SINGING A BAWDY SONG, AND A LINE WENT--''I DON'T WANT ME BOLLOCKS SHOT AWAY''. IT WAS MET WITH STONEY SILENCE, AND JUST ME, HOWLING MY HEAD OFF IN THE CINEMA.

The scene Brooks plays the chief of the Indians pursuing the black family's wagon. After they are stopped he looks at them in wonder and says, "Shvartsas! Woof! They darker then us!" Then as an acknowledgement of one minority to another he lets them go. Some great comic lines in thatmovie.

As a Johnson, I especially enjoyed the citizens of Rock Ridge very much... 😊 I have several favorite lines from it, among them being "If you must." "I must, I must!" A friend of mine, named his restaurant after it: Blazing Salads".

In a time when it was perfectly fine for movies to show murder, rape and torture, farting was somehow considered over the line (ie obscene) for a motion picture in Hollywood. thanks mel, for a brief minute when sanity triumphed.

After meeting Madeline Kahn on the set of "Fridays" a late night TV Show in early 80s, I realize how Ingenious she was! My friend Actor Darrow Igus had auditioned for a part in Blazing Saddles.. though it's been awhile since Ive seen the movie, Ive recently (out of the blue) found myself adopting the immortal words of Madeline Kahn in my own vocabulary.. "It's Twue.. it's twue!" For my own amusement , I say it all the time! 😆😂😘

Saw Blazing Saddles in '74 in the theatre as double feature with The 12 Chairs (which ran 1st). Chairs had us all rolling on the floor ... then came THE funniest movie I have ever seen. Saddles is completely outrageously brilliant! I own a copy on DVD so whenever I need a laugh, I just break it out. Of course, I've seen it probably 100 times and know the script by heart ... still completely cracks me up. Thank you, Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, Harvey Corman, Cleavon Little and the incredable Madeline Kahn for this great film!

Around 1970 Slim Pickens picked me up hitchhiking in Thousand Oaks and drove me to San Luis Obispo where his daughter was in college. He had a saddle in the back seat of his sky blue Lincoln Continental and was taking it to his daughter who was a contestant in the rodeo that weekend. He was such a regular unassuming man. He didn't introduce himself as Slim Pickens and wasn't calling attention to himself, but as soon as he started in conversation I recognized his voice and said, "You're Slim Pickens." He couldn't deny it but he told me stories about when he would meet people who weren't so sure and would say he looked familiar and he would just say he got that a lot. His credit card had his legal name not Slim. The best part of our talk was when I asked how he filmed the scene in Dr. Strangelove when he road the bomb, and he said he hung upside down and the film of the approaching ground was projected onto the ceiling. He was a fantastic person.

👍👍👍👍 saw it at theater at 20 years old ….everyone passing a cigarette . 10 minutes in we were like Wow! Then Wilder scene with the sheriff smokin a joint BLEW US AWAY😲😲✊✌️😂😂 . Every bit of the stereotype of culture was FANTASTIC ! So damn funny! We still watch BS today . There will never be another Blazing Saddles🥰
