The justice league animated show's flash was Wally West. In the comics Wally started as kid flash, and was slow, then became the fastest flash when he got older. He got his powers by replicating the accident that gave Barry his powers. This show went a different way then the comics with most peoples origins. All very close but with there own twist.

Wally is Iris's nephew (Barry's wife) so he's not blood related to Barry in any way and he didn't inherith the powers at all, just like Barry he got caught up in the same accident that once gave Barry his powers. I always find it ironic how Wally is so much slower than the Allen bloodline in this show because in the comics Wally is the absolute most powerfull speedster and the fastest BEING in existence.

Alright, so a quick breakdown as to why Wally is so much slower than any other Flash. Wally was a flash fan and wanted to be like his idol, so he tried to recreate the experiment flash used to give him his powers. However, Wally was still a kid, so he made some small mistakes. He still got super speed, but because the experiment wasn't perfectly replicated, he wasn't as fast. He's still incredibly fast, but compared to regular Flash, you can literally see him being lapped.

Bart Allen/Impulse is one of my favorite characters in the series. So funny, despite coming from such a dark future.

The two plots are related to the title of the episode. Bloodlines refers to the Flash Family, Bart's introduction as Impulse, and Cheshire and Red Arrow finding Roy alongside their daughter.

Cousin once removed means that Wally is cousin to Bart’s father. Iris is Wally’s aunt, her kids are gonna be his cousins. Bart is Iris’s grandson and Wally is her nephew. Suddenly I realized that I don’t know how to explain it.

Wally only learnt that he was subconsciously running slower than Barry after Barry had died and Wally took on the mantle of the Flash so while a great amount of the details in this universe are not “comic accurate” they do try to stay within the lines as much as they can

The meta gene is the DC explanation for why when Barry Allen got struck by lightning he didn’t just cook. Any super powered folks who aren’t aliens like Superman, magic like Wonder Woman or have tech like Green Lantern or Steel have the meta gene. (And yeah there’s also Nightwing who just whups butts)

This is one of the best episodes of the season. Not just the A plot, but the B plot too. The connection is that Bart Allen (Impulse) and the “original” Roy Harper (???), are a part of the show in some way. Wally explains in season 1 episode 6 (when the team meets Kent Nelson/Dr. Fate), that he recreated the experiment that gave Barry his powers. Also, Wally’s mom and Barry’s wife are sister, which is how they’re related. This show, like many others, uses comics as a stepping off point. It isn’t an exact copy. So origin stories will be different. Genders and ethnicities may be different. Even power sets may be different. The writers have been given an opportunity to write a new story using familiar characters.

Wally West is canonically one of the slowest Flashes but in multiple continuities he becomes the fastest once he stops doubting himself and discovers the Speed Force.

They mentioned in an earlier episode that Wally got his powers from recreating the experiment that gave Barry his powers, so I guess it didn't happen the exact same way which is why he isn't as fast as the original or Barry's descendants.

Wally West was in JL & JLU animated universe. Also it's still like another 4-6 I think Flashes. The Flash family, love them. Young Justice is a show you constantly have to pay attention. Also funny that when he's grown up, Wally is actually the fastest out of all of them.

Man knowing what happens down the line with you know who, episodes like this remind me I'm not ready to experience it all over again. Gotta enjoy episodes like these while we can.

Such a great episode. The “modern” Green Lanterns are essentially space cops (still doesn’t explain why all earth Lanterns are from the US). The classic one is just a dude with a similar power set. The Kroloteans aren’t in the picture anymore. The new aliens call humans “meat” and you already figured out part of their plans.

One of my favorite episodes of the series. It’s just so crash. Also, the time travel in this show is very different compared to the speedster time travel in both the comics and tv.

Wally is actually the one in the Justice League animated series. It's because during the time that cartoon was made Wally had been the main flash for years succeeding barry. But when YJ was made Barry had returned and become the main flash again.

The original justification for multiple Green Lanterns was that you have one per space sector and then you have one back up/deputy. Then the back up got changed around back and forward and then comic stuff happened so theres a load of human green lanterns now but usually in the comics they work in different space sectors

Wally is the Flash in the series Justice League. Barry is never mentioned because when that series came out Barry was dead (part of the speed force) in the comics. Barry died in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event (All DC comics) which was the early 1980s. Barry was brought back to life in the crossover event Final Crisis which was the mid 2000s. So Barry was dead in the comics for about 20+ years our time. This series is not a series meant for newcomers to DC comics but for DC fans who have a knowledgeable history of DC. Major events that occurred will be part of time skips because frankly it would be nearly impossible to cover in seasonal weekly 22 minute animated shows. That's not me being snobby but the writers stated intentions when they presented the show at Comic-Con back in 2009. This show requires the viewer do some investigation of DC character origins on their own. Like you are already suppose to know Jay Garrick was the original Flash stuff. It is okay to research origins for the show. That's also part of the running joke in this episode. Some spoilers are okay if it helps.

Fun fact, when Roy said that comment about his daughter "enjoying the ultra-violent" and Cheshire said that its genetic she technically wasn't joking; since Roy is a clone who's mission was to infiltrate the justice league he's a 100% accurate clone of the original except he was genetically engineered to be more temperamental and violent to give him the drive to thrive solo and prove himself to the leaguers and be accepted. Since she's his daughter, she inherited his genetic code including his tendency for violence; it's *literally* genetic

A comment you would probably never read but Greg Weisman has stated that Young Justice show is all a single timeline and to forget the multiverse stuff you usually hear about. The Young Justice Earth-16 allows time travel within your own timeline and allows rewriting history.

Wally is Iris West's nephew (Notice they're both red heads, unlike Barry) and Iris is Barry's wife. So, Wally is related to Barry and Iris's decendants through the West bloodline. Hence, he is Bart's cousin once removed.

Removed when in a family tree refers to the level/generation that separates 2 or more members. For example, if my mother's sister has a kid, we would be 1st cousins. Now my kid and my cousin's kid would be 2nd cousins, but my 1st cousin and my kid would be 1st cousins once removed, because my kid is 1 generation removed from the 1st cousin relation.

I know I'm not the first to note it but this Wally West (Kid Flash) was stated to be Iris West's nephew, not Barry's blood relative, so he's cousins with their unborn twins. Of course there's universes where alternatively, Wally is Iris' brother (e.g. CW). There's also Justice League cartoon where Wally is the Flash and there's just no Barry.

For the Green Lantern thing, the universe is split up into thousands of different sectors with each one having two Green Lanterns. Earth has more due to a combination of the situation being complicated and different Lanterns being replaced.
