Now I see why Keith Moon's drum kit is so low compared to other drummers. He does a lot of insync eye contact with Pete and John. Moon was amazing.

The fury and energy on that stage is unmatched. No one at the time could compare to their power. ...And John Entwistle stands like a statue amidst the chaos around him but just as cool.

One of the best live albums in history, is The Who's 1970 "Live at Leeds". It was the recorded the same year as the Isle of Wight concert, and so the video from IoW is as close as we will ever come to being able to see the actual "LaL" performances! I think the actual performance of this song is better on the "LaL" album. Also, the sound quality on the original "LaL" is absolutely fantastic....and I'm talking about the original vinyl release. I would say you owe it to your son to play him at least the two sides (original). It would be so cool to see y'all do a reaction to that album, one side at a time!

Some of their best songs were never on an album. Heaven and Hell from Live at Leeds was attempted many times in the studio but could never get an acceptable take. Young Man Blues is probably another example. I don’t know if they ever attempted to capture it for a studio album, but I doubt it could equal it live.

4 musicians at the very top of their game for sure. In an interview Pete Townsend was asked how it felt to be in the top 10 guitarists of all time and he replied "I'm not the best guitarist in The Who, John Entwistle can play more on his bass that I can play on electric guitars" he went on to say John inspired him to be a better guitarist.

I disagree, the Isle of Wight version is the best version ,why? You may ask because it's a lot faster than the live at leeds version.....it has nothing to do with the sound quality...the Isle of Wight version is more like punk or metal

We left early from a British Grand Prix at Silverstone one year, because they moved the race from July to April in the calendar and the final laps occurred in the inevitable April shower. The car parks are just a network of grass fields, which will turn to mud as soon as cars start moving around, so I was determined to get out before getting stuck! It just so happened that on this occasion the race was won by Michael Schumacher while stationary in the pits, which is the most ridiculous win in the history of the sport, and we only heard about it on the radio while walking to the car!

You two should react to Roger Daltrey performing with Queen at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley Stadium. Queen was already onstage performing with Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath when Roger Daltrey was announced. They performed the Queen song "I Want It All". With Roger on vocals and Queen as the band, the entire audience went insane with joy as they put on a performance for the ages. I've never seen any KZfaq channel react to Roger Daltrey and Queen performing I Want It All. Would be great if you two are the first to react to this amazing performance!

The Isle of Wight (on the south coast of England) hosts an annual music festival, and is probably the best known after Glastonbury. Fun fact, back when I was at school (in the Upper Jurassic period of geological time, otherwise known as 'early Who'), it was said that if the entire world's population stood shoulder to shoulder, they would all fit onto the Isle of Wight. So that explains the migrant crisis on our southern border!

My first concert was The Who at Madison Square Garden in 1979. They played there on September 13-18 and I went every night. Although everyone was still upset about Keith Moon dying, Kenny Jones had been around a long time and he was fantastic. They were THE loudest band I ever heard, but the sound was also very clear. It’s no surprise that Pete Townsend has hearing loss and permanent ringing in the ears (which must be very annoying). This show, like most concerts in the 60’s & 70’s, was “general admission” also known as “festival seating”. This meant you could sit anywhere, and when they opened the doors people would RUSH inside the colosseum to find the best seat they could. I had been to other general admission concerts where the crowds were pretty well behaved, despite rushing for a good seat. BUT Who fans were very rabid, and you would get pushed and shoved, and if you fell down people would walk over or around you. Most of the people had also obviously been drinking and smoking pot or taking acid, so Who crowds were famous for being rowdy. The shows were great and went fine. Then on December 3, 1979 The Who played a general admission show in Cincinnati at the Riverfront Coliseum, and this time 11 people were crushed to death in the stampede when they opened the doors. For some reason they didn’t open all the doors and people just went nuts trying to get in. It was really inevitable that something bad would happen sooner or later, and general admission shows were banned soon after.

Only a short detail: Coincidentally, the 1st Swiss radio station broadcast a short cultural interpretation of the first hit of the Who MY GENERATION at 3:30 p.m. today. In short: the youth of the 1960s were looking for their place in a society that was heavily influenced by the war and post-war generation: "You can be glad that we...". Apparently it was also the first pop/rock song with a short bass solo. According to a BBC interview, Pete Townshend was apparently inspired by Mose Allison's Young Man Blues. Good next week!!!

If they were trying to out-do each other, at least they knew how to do it for the benefit of the song, rather than just for their own egos. They developed their interplay over many years, so whatever they were doing, they knew how to do it. A Who show (with the classic lineup) may sound like chaos but never (or rarely) goes off track.

"We missed that", kid you didn't even need to say it. I felt it. "YMB" is a Mose Allison cover they've done live for decades. I believe there is a studio version, but I don't think there was an official release until the re-issues in the 1990's. Here is a warning to all music fans who MAY go to a Who show in the future. Where it's pretty fair to say that the set won't change, it does occasionally. I believe I've witnessed it but I can't really remember those kinds of details anymore. And honestly I don't feel like researching right now. One example may have been in 1989, I saw them in Oakland. I "think" the Who worked out "The Real Me" to play in the middle of the tour because W.A.S.P had a little radio hit with a cover of it. You just never know, I'm now in the habit of getting a hotel room when I see shows now. I just saw Roger Waters, I may never see him again. I ain't leaving til' he does. Of course I have a ton of PTO and 10 years until retirement... P.S. Is it just me, or does that kid kind of look like a young Keith Moon?

I also think there are several better versions out there than Isle of Wight, and the London Coliseum '12/69 version is way better than the Isle of Wight IMO. Just listen to Keith on the two versions. I read that Pete said Keith was on something he shouldn't have taken at Isle of Wight. Listening to the two versions back to back makes that clear to me. That being said, people who do reaction videos generally are not aficionados of the music to which they react. They tend to go by recommendations from fans with subjective opinions - just like your and mine.
