Shaq here in 98 was quick, mobile and dominant. In 2000 he got bigger and more dominant.

That’s not “young Shaq” that’s PEAK Shaq. He’s 26 here and at the top of his game. This Shaq right here (1997-2002) was the most dominant center to ever Grace the paint. Period. Shaq could stop Wilt but Wilt COULDN’T stop Shaq. That’s the difference.

Absolutely agree with you, everyone usually brings up Wilts overall great athleticism but in the game of Basketball for the Center position Shaq at his best was no1 imo, has the bigger base and proportional strength top to bottom and way more agile explosive power the other greats don’t while being heavier. He’s the biggest mismatch no matter who he’s against be it Russel of Kareem etc even in his younger 95 finals he still did good vs Hakeem and great 1v1.

Of course he would. “Euroball” has utterly RUINED basketball. There IS no more big man. That is literally WHY Jokic & Embiid dominate. They are literally the ONLY 2 actual centers left in the NBA. That’s why the MVP has been one of those 2 the last 2-3+ seasons. Peak Shaq (98-00) would average 50 points and 20+ rebounds today. Just like Wilt did in 62. Because he also was guarded by literally nobody else like him back then there weren’t many actual centers. He was guarded by 6’7-6’8 guys named Robert. Bill Russell was the only time he actually struggled and even he was only about 6’9 maybe 6’10, but he had real long arms so he played 7’0+…. anyway, point is, Shaq would average 50+ points today. So would prime Jordan. Defense is non-existent. Jordan & Shaq played in the most physical defensive era in history and STILL did what they did. They’d make these fools today look like children in a rec league.

damn shaq was in his best shape of his life, he should have stayed to this weight , shaq was too heavy in his 2000s years thats maybe why his ending career was bad and he get trough injuries

2000 was literally his peak year. He led the league in scoring that year with almost 30 a game and won the finals MVP 3 straight years from 00-02.

I would say he was roughly in this shape from 97-01 maybe a bit more muscular nearer the end. Even 94-96 he already started to bulk up, his Olympic 96 shape was insane.

Let's keep it 100. Shaq was not in great shape here. He was just young. He wasn't in horrible shape but you can see he wasn't focusing 100% on basketball. Now imagine if he did?? He was already getting 40 points, 20 rebounds, 8 blocks etc.

Like at least put Shawn Kemp on Shaq lmao, why is 6’9 230 lb Vin Baker guarding him. He played small foward most of his career not even power foward. And they’ve got him playing that here but guarding the center on D. Just stupid.
