It also would explain the retcon like his father being nicer than his recollections, the affair and Sheldon having regressed socially when he first meets Leonard. It’s through Sheldon’s rose colored glasses.

Just confirmation that it's all one version of events vs. another. Yet there could be multiple more for even the same events. Everyone remembers things differently. I think the memoir is about Sheldon deep down look at his childhood with more mature eyes but showing his tough exterior to the world. In a way, Sheldon is nicer as a kid but much ruder and crazier as an adult despite his shelfish ways (pun intended).

Maybe the story is not so exaggerated. What we see in this video is definitely not the one and only time Amy helped Sheldon "correct" his memories to be closer to reality. 🙂

Well Sheldon has been exaggerating his childhood throughout TBBT. He constantly made his childhood sound miserable and his family was a bunch of irresponsible idiots to make himself look like a victim who deserves everything he wants. This is best shown with George, since we can clearly see he wasn't the irresponsible drunk Sheldon made him out to be. Young Sheldon is meant to show what really happened in his childhood, though there are times where the Adult Sheldon narrating the events still gets some stuff wrong.

I think his memoir is from a more mature perspective, now Sheldon is a father and despite not understanding what empathy is, he might understand a little bit what being a father is and having a son different than he is. The same experience George had with Sheldon. Maybe that’s why in the Sheldon memoir he is more kinder describing his dad compared to the view he had while he was in the TBBT series. I really both shows

She puts up with a lot being married to Sheldon as we all know but like everybody else Sheldon knows her love for Sheldon is like the love his mother always showed him not blind devotion which Sheldon doesn't really expect. They probably have a freedom of speech clause in their relationship contract.

The episodes will be back to back, much like they did with the series finale of TBBT. And I thought I read somewhere, yet for the life of me I can't remember where, that the gang from TBBT will have something to do with the series finale of "Young Sheldon." I don't know how but....But then, I could be dead wrong on that. Either way, despite never really being a fan of the show (I watched a few episodes and they were funny but just couldn't get into it. Don't know why.), but I will watch the finale next week, come hell or high water!!! I'm looking forward to seeing Amy bringing Sheldon down a peg or two. 😂😂😂

I think this being Sheldon’s version is a smart way of explaining why the dad is looked at more positively than when his mom would talk about him during TBBT where she described him as a good for nothing drunk…. But at the same time it also causes another problem in that they haven’t really shown Sheldon and his meemaw close except for that prison thing and it still questions the retcon about George cheating

I think what we must consider is that the directors let us time travel to the past and see the truth, so we must disregard Jim’s Sheldon both in TBBT and the older narrator of YS as an exaggerating liar who doesn’t know everything. He thought his father cheated on his mother but we know he didn’t. Older Mary says George was a drunkard but we know he wasn’t. Maybe she’s saying that as a defense mechanism to deal with her trauma of his death, since he didn’t quit alcohol or bad food after his first heart attack. By now, we know more about the Coopers’ lives than the filtered statements we got in TBBT.

The scene where, when the bell rings and we see two persons through the frosted door was so poignant. It has a certain eerieness about it. As if messangers have come with some menacing truth

Voice-acting isn't the same kind of commitment as appearing as a regular on a series. Also, making on-screen cameo in one episode is not same kind of commitment as appearing as a regular on a series.

I mean ti be fair to older sheldon he did give a good bit too. He gave Penny money to make ends meet and didn't really care when he got the money back cause he knew Penny would do it regardless. Not many people are like that in the world
