It's pronounced le-NERD not LE-nard. Also, your hypothesis is lacking solid evidence. People name their children after friends and family all the time, and there's nothing suspect about that. There's nothing at all to suggest that Leonard is dead.

The kid is named after Leonard Nimoy and not Leonard Hofstadter. Amy put her foot down on the middle name being Nimoy. A missed opportunity for the show but to have the napkin Penny gave him with Nimoy's signature and saliva hanging on display on the wall at Sheldon and Amy's home. On a side note I have no idea if the napkin had the signature on it or if it was just a prop in the show, but if Leonard Nimoy had signed it and rubbed it across his lips, that piece of linen would have value through the roof at an auction. Both because it was Leonard Nimoy and because it was a huge thing in an episode on TBBT. Penny didn't know it but at the time that would have been probably worth $10k or more.

We already know Sheldon and Amy's son was named after Leonard Nimoy. Sheldon wanted his middle name as Nimoy, but Amy nixed it and said Leonard was enough. We were told that in the season 2 Young Sheldon finale.

Wow, this is a total reach. Also, in an earlier episode, it featured all the tbbt cast as kids for a few seconds. But also, it didn't mention Raj or Bernadette or Howard. Are they all dead too, and also, I think that's a very sweet thing of sheldon named his son after his best friend

I feel Sheldon only mentioned Penny because she babysat their daughter, and do not forget that Leonard and Penny also had a child. There was no need to mention Leonard if he participated in babysitting their daughter. In my opinion, Penny was at Sheldon and Amy's house, and Leonard was at home. And his son was most likely named after his best friend as a possible sign of their long friendship.

He's not dead. She's family friend and we're seeing they're still in each other's lives even tho they've obviously moved out of the apartments. Penny is the most likely out of the friends to do baby sitting really. Especially since, if I recall correctly, she did in fact have babysitting experience :p

Well, in the first half hour of the finale, sheldon did mention that he was the same age as his dad was at the time of big george's death. In the second half, if you notice when mary visits george's headstone, it read that he lived from '52-'94. So he was about 42 when he died. I'm guessing sheldon and missy's birthday was later in the year, so they're still 13.

My guess is that if the producers need Leonard to be alive in any future series he will experience a remarkable burst of health or even a resurrection from the dead that even Mrs Cooper will find miraculous. Remember, we all thought Ziva David was dead until NCIS needed her to be alive again (except for me: I KNEW Ziva was alive).

It's this stupid type of leap that signals to me that I've drifted into the crazy fan-dom area of otherwise enjoyable entertainment. For Pete's sake! The connection with Sheldon's daughter's interest in acting and Penny's babysitting makes logical sense. Leonard's not being mentioned is no indication of his death. And before you drift further, neither does it mean Wil Wheaton, Stuart, Krimpke, or Raj have died. So, relax!

There's no basis to indicate that Leonard's dead. Just because Penny is babysitting their kid isn't a huge indicator of that. That could be interpreted as for what it is.

I think not. He named his son Leonard Cooper only because of Leonard Nimoy. He wanted to name him Leonard Nimoy Lee Cooper but Amy stood against it and just allowed Sheldon to name him as Leonard Lee Cooper. His best friend along with the rest of the gang are pretty much still alive and Penny could be the only one who's not busy hence why she got the time babysit their daughter.

Hello, my name is the same as my father, grandfather, and great grandfather have the same first name. We have all used the same nickname. Context clues can tell you who you are talking about, so the name one is complete BS built on your own ignorance. Not all social groups will alter the name of a member that happens to share names with another. There was no reason to mention Leonard in that conversation. In fact, if he died, it would make MORE sense to mention him. Also, Sheldon's friendships with the gang WAS mentioned in the show.

Boy, obsessed with Leonard, aren't we? When I last checked, it was named Young Sheldon, not Young Leonard. Leonard is most likely alive in fine. The reason YS never mentioned Leonard, ... because Sheldon hadn't met him yet. In fact, one episode had shown all the main characters of TBBT as youths, including Leonard. Shouldn't be worrying about Leonard, ..though it would've been cool if they had mentioned what happened to the rest of the cast.

Leo-nard, my favorite episode was when he wore a leotard; while reading about Eobard Thawn’s theft of a geocard (which I just made up because I wanted one more rhyme. Craziest thing is the tts engine says it right just shy of middle of the video.. the only way I can think that should work is if it was spelled differently for that one instance… hmm. Yes, OK, but my grandfather was called Pete by the guys that he served with the Marine Corps because they could not pronounce his polish name. And that is where my dad got his name from Edward I got my name from so yes you know what many Christmases there were presents passed around where we said wait is it Pete Peter or Peter T I hope Leonard and Penny had babies. The only thing i will say doesn't sit well with me about Jim Parsons is that he made the decision for the other actors that he wanted to stop doing The big bang theory knowing him being the star of the show it would cause the show to be canceled, to do other things as he was tired of doing Sheeldon, yet he did continue to b play Sheldon. Off the camera or not he still got paid giving him a safety net leaving his fellow co stars with nothing. Other than Melissa on Night Court is the other doing anything?

johnny was working on a new sitcom with chuck lorre, but since then no update, kaley had flight attendant, Kunal worked on couple of shows, bilaek did jeopardy for a while. helberg is doing theatre and sitcom. And all of them quite a lot of money so it's not like they are poor or something. especially johnny who made about 70ish mill in last three seasons

I read in Jessica's book that Johnny and Kaley wanted to end the show on season 9 and create their own show that would focus on Leonard and Penny's relationship, but they were persuaded to continue TBBT. I understand that they decided to continue for the sake of the whole team, but Jim literally threw them all under the bus at the end when he got tired of the show.

Disagree all you want. But ask yourself….. why’d you want to watch the show in the first place? Answer is….. Sheldon. Each show has started and ended with Sheldon. As endearing and engaging the other characters are, they just aren’t as interesting or memorable . Liken it to The Cleveland Show, ala Family Guy…. As much as you like the character, carrying his own show isn’t feasible for very long. And Cleveland is a much better character than Georgie. Just sayin.
