I had a bad feeling when Missy turned down the ride to school and Mary said, "Don't forget, the picture's at 4 o'clock". I just thought, "Oh no. He's not coming back".

Missy wasn't mean about not riding with George. She just wasn't ready to go yet. Although IRL, she probably would feel remorse.

I had my guard up once he got the offer from Rice… then Mary supported him and was finally ok to move… then Meemaw was proud of him… then Missy was happy about it… then Mary scolded Sheldon and stuck up for George.. then georgie and George had a moment. It was a tough episode…

The past few episodes I’ve been watching with dread, knowing it was coming. I also cherished the moments he spent with his kids, giving them little pieces of advice that hopefully they will remember for life. It reminded me of when I watched my dad deal with the death of his father and instilled in me drive to learn everything I can for from him and to enjoy every moment.

It was tough. I wanted him to be in one last family photo with everyone. I thought it would happen after that at least. George got to have dinner as a family before he passed. Sheldon got to spend time with him on his Cal Tech and MIT visit. He was in a good spot with Mary. The way they portrayed the death and his announcement is real life. It comes at you like this all of a sudden with family. You rarely get an opportunity to say good bye to the people you love. So please tell all your loved ones you love them.

Haven't you realised in 7 years that young Sheldon..is not just about sheldon anymore ..people really love these secondary charactors...so yes ofcourse it makes sense to give george a proper fairwell

However Sheldon is still the narrator with an eidetic memory. He is sharing his experience, and just like life, you don’t always get to give someone a proper farewell when someone suddenly dies. This is a regret that Sheldon feels and he’s frustrated because it’s the one thing he knows he could have done better with, but will never get an opportunity to correct, and he has to live with that guilt for the rest of his life. For a self-centred and prideful character such as himself, that’s something that is going to haunt him. The best way to convey to an audience the frustration and guilt someone like Sheldon would feel about this is exactly how it was handled in the show. Not getting a chance to say goodbye, and then hearing the tragic news right when to Sheldon it was another ordinary day. It’s beautifully written that way as it not only is realistic, but also helps the audience feel what Sheldon feels. Frustration, Grief, Anger, Sadness. So make sure to tell your loved ones everyday that you love them because for all you know, it could be the last time without either one knowing it.

How each of us deal with the death of a loved one, is peculiar to each of us. When my farther died in 1981 I said something that virtually everyone misunderstood. I said “in the end my farther was very selfish he only gave us 71 years”

Nothing was ever said about her living with him until he was 18. She still had Missy to deal with anyway. And Georgie said in TBBT that he took care of stuff right after George dies. I think he probably stayed in a dorm until he was 18. Then he gets the apt. And I'm not sure how many roommates he goes through until Leonard moves in with him in 2003.

It is. But it doesn't mean he dies YET. Part of the problem is Sheldon paints him as an unsavory, mean drunk most of the time. And I'm YS they softened him up and everyone fell in love with the character.

Saw my old man, also named George, on a Sunday back in 2018. He was gone before he hit the ground that Wednesday at 4pm while he was at work, and I was at my job on the other side of time. No formal goodbyes. No one expected it. Poor guy was 64 and in perfect health. Saw docs routinely. Shit still happens. We all just assume everyone sees 80+ these days. It’s not the case. Episode was brutal.

I guess the reason he died of screen was to show how death can happen anytime and without notice as how the moment before his death was all normal and the sudden news of his death shows the way that without anyone ever caring before, his death occured and that was the final moments sheldon saw his dad

We all knew it was coming, but I was really hoping that it would happen after they got the family photo done. That said, having a family photo done less than a day before an unexpected death could make it hard for the family to look at the photo later.

George didn't have a stroke. He had a heart attack. And Sheldon isn't just an unreliable narrator. The things he said in TBBT about his father, and other members of his family, were lies, pure and simple. As an adult, he spoke about his father with nothing but disdain.

I know people love George and Don't want him to die, but its established in Sheldon's universe that he does die before Sheldon goes to Caltech (which he is about to do). But people keep living in denial which will be much harder for them to deal with when it happens. Plus does it really make sense for YS to have an entire episode about a secondary character's funeral??

Why wasn't Georgie, Mandy and the baby in the very final scene at the door? They go to change the babies diaper and Mary goes to answer the door. But I never see Georgie and Mandy at the door. Or did I miss something?

The scene was over with camera on Sheldon. It was only a matter of seconds so Georgie and Mandy wouldn't have even gotten out of the other room yet.
