It is. This is the same as war nowadays. Some patrol in Afghanistan, Mali or Syria get's shot at and the airforce or artillery unleashes hell. Look at all of the casualties statistics. We still fuck them up this big.

@@AVKnechtI hate when people think we are loosing to them. The problem is they’re not an organized military or a country. They’re literally terrorists massacring people, no matter how many you kill, it’s a completely different fight than that of WW1 or 2.

I've never been too terribly clear on the history of this battle. So, the British were allowed in to Egypt at the behest of the Ottoman Empire, but ended up basically turning Egypt into a British Colony / Protectorate which cut off the Ottomans in Libya? Then the fundamentalist Sudanese rose up in the south against what they saw was a corrupt Westernized Egyptian-British puppet government, so attempted to break off (the Mahdist wars), but the British and Egyptians (and the Ottomans?) went in and crushed them? Is that about the jist? Sounds very awkward for the Ottomans.

Sudanese rebels had defeated a Britush army at Khartoum several years previously. The garrison was defeated to a man. Kitchener was charged to retake Sudan, the campaign beginning at Omdurman.

Now this is how you deal with ISIS as Assad and Putin did in Syria. No mercy.
