This is why I find Magneto so fascinating. He's simultaneously very much more aware of how not everyone is a good person deep down than Charles, but he's so blinded by his own hatred and bitterness that he doesn't notice that he became one of the bigots that he despises.

It's called the cycle of abuse, it makes so much sense, especially with current events. The abused learn from an abuser, and become an abuser. It takes very conscious action to break the cycle.

That is the entire purpose of Magneto as a character. The abused, in their fear of returning to that status, will gladly become abusers to avoid it. While Magneto is right to be afraid for his life and right to defend himself, he is not right to target all of humanity for it. We saw in these last two episodes how Magneto's actions have caused chaos on a scale even wider than Bastion. Dr. Strange had to continue his surgery using magic. Think of all the people who weren't so lucky. Think of all those people raiding stores. Of mutants like Omega Red being set free.

@@ApexGale Think of all the mutants who are still alive because Magneto had a way - the only way, in the moment - to stop Bastion's creations from wiping out their entire species in a single night. That was the end goal, after all. Bastion wants their *extinction*, and the UN has been knowingly and willingly backing him every step of the way.

If Magneto had been more rational, he could have rendezvous'd with the X-Men and come up with a plan to stop Bastion and terminate his control over the Primes. Instead he went nuclear, harming millions more than Bastion, putting the image of mutants in an even worse place, and freeing mutants who will continue to make humans fearful of them. Bastion is 100% a villain, don't get me wrong. His idea of a better world was to turn all of humanity into a Sentinel collective and turn all of mutantkind into slaves. But Magneto is no better - his goal was to take an asteroid into the atmosphere and piss off with a select few, leaving any future mutants born on Earth to deal with the fallout of his actions. Xavier's beliefs seem too idealistic but ultimately, he is the one who proposes a solution that would work. You can't erase hatred in a couple of years, and he knows that. He understands his battle for mutant human equality and improvement of relations is a generational one. It's why he founded a school - because it is something you have to nurture from a young age, into adulthood, to carry into the future. It is an endless struggle, but the moment you give up is the moment you fail.

At this point, if you're doing an X-Men adaptation and _don't_ have homoerotic undertones with Charles and Magneto, you're doing it wrong.

He says what everyone already knows. Everyone is in a rush to use their victim card, they don't even try to see the progress made, and the future being brighter. Also Magento is just Hitler, he's a mutant zeolite who want to wipe out all those he sees as inferior

It doesn't apply to everyone. His grief and pain affects his judgement.

The MCU already changed Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's pasts, they aren't related to Magneto in the movies. But this episode did in fact confirm that they are his children, when Kelly checks Magneto's file.

Say that their parents they remember weren't really their biological parents (or at least not their dad) and introduce Magneto as their bio dad. Comic canon can't seem to decide if they're mutants or magic anyway.

No lie, until episode 5, I really thought he was going to stay on that path. He really seemed to grow into the role. Would've loved to see moments where he had to do Charles' job, like talking down a scared teen mutant with unwieldy power. But realize he's terrible at it because he's nothing like Charles and has an epiphany that he has to do it his way. Would've made for a great filler episode. Also, I couldn't get enough reformed Magneto. He looked so happy 🥲
