People think we just do nails. They forget we do inventory, marketing, cleaning, washing, creating new designs, planners… i can keep going!! Or work is not 9-5. Even after we finish a day at the salon/studio, we are at home or the nail supply store thinking and planning for the next days. It takes a lot of dedication and discipline. And all of it! ( except folding my trillion towels!)

Wouldn't adding all of the extra layers of SR make the nail a lot more bulky? What would be the best way to insure I wouldn't lose the shape? Loved the tutorial btw ❤

We use the Stain Resistant because it is nice and thin. If you plan on applying chrome, you can also start with just a slightly thinner enhancement as the extra layers of top coat will give a little more structure.

Can you use black acrylic powder for the enhancement, then the top coat (skip the 2 coats of black polish) to keep it thinner? Or the black gotime color (since it has nontacky shiny finish) instead of 2 coats of color + top coat (again, to keep it thinner)?

You can use black acrylic to give the solid background and then the Ultimate Finish to apply the chrome into. We would still use the Ultimate Finish over the Go Time polish though as it has a different finish for the chrome to adhere to. The Go Time surface may be too smooth for the chrome to "grab" on to.

Oh man, I need to get some of this stuff. Can I just use a UV flashlight to cure the polish? I think this would be perfect to use on a 1/24 scale rc undercarriage. The drive-shaft and suspension links, 🤔 could probably do wheel rims, too. Unlike paint, it'd be resistant to scratches.

We can't guarantee a regular uv flashlight would have the curing ability to cure our gels. Depending on the usage, even though it is a hard gel, the top coat can still get scratched if it comes in contact with something abrasive.

So you need to use a top coat that leaves no tacky surface? I have a No Wipe top coat, which I'm pretty sure doesn't leave a tacky surface. So that would work, right?

We are using gel so it has to be cured for it to set, it doesn't seton it's own.

We would recommend confirming with your local state board rules, but because they are a porous tool, most likely they will be required to be thrown away as they can not be sanitized.

You don't need to use a base coat on top of an enhancement. The enhancement acts as the base.

Have you used the Ultimate Finish before the chrome and/or Stain Resistant after? If you are using other brands, we don't know how the chrome will adhere to them or why they wouldn't be shiny since we don't test other products.

I find very short nails struggle with chrome the worst. There is no free edge for the gel to wrap around so it flakes off with no effort - any tips please?

With any gel application, whether you are applying chrome or not, you need to keep the gel on the nail. If it flows onto the skin, this can cause lifting or separation. You may need to sculpt out a short extension to give the gel/gel polish a platform to adhere to.

I can’t get the no wipe top coat to go on smooth. It pits for no apparent reason, almost like it’s repelled by the coat underneath. I’ve tried everything and nobody else seems to have ever had the same problem

@@youngnailsinc Thought it could be that too but I even tried putting on thicker and it still starts to look like water on a smooth surface. Roughing up the actual color doesn’t sound right but either way it hasn’t worked.

the 30 second cures are freezing the product into place so it doesn't move and you can move on to another finger or step. The gel still needs a full 60 second cure.

You have to press the skin away to release the product from the skin and depending on how much there is you may be able to use a cuticle nipper to get it off or file it off.

That nail was just a demonstration to show what happens when you don't start with a smooth nail. If you are actually applying the chrome over black gel polish, we recommend using 2 coats of the black for full coverage.

Erm you did two layers of the polish on the first nail but only did one coat on the second nail. Why is that ?

It's to show that you really want not only a smooth surface from filing, but a smooth color application as well. You may do one coat of the gel polish and it looks like it is covering everything, but chrome will show every little imperfection on a nail.
