Great video series! Can you do one short section with mapping creating hot cues? I have something working for track where I set the first beat. But when I need this for the whole folder without setting it manualy, it just doesn't work as it should. I think this would use a lot of djs. And even better if I could see that hot cues in Serato DB as well. I have bought both VDJ and Serato and use it for different types of venues. Thanks!

Hi @1veks1 👋😊. Help me understand your question better. Do you mean you want a custom mapping that sets up cue points for you at the beginning of the song's beat?

@@YoungSimbaEmpire I mapped script to button which then placed first beat and few hot cues at etc. 16 beats, 32 beats, 48 and 64. I know how to set hot cues but the first beat was often set up incorrectly. And even better option would be if the button will place this in whole folder. I saw similar script to go through folder and set it for every track.

@@YoungSimbaEmpire Hi, strange, I have answered already and can't see it. I have tried to create script which sets first cue point at first beat of the song and then several hot cues after 16, 32, 48 and 64 beats from first. Setting hot cues works but the first beat is often at wrong place even if beatgrid is set correctly. And it would be even better if the script could set this in all tracks in selected folder. I have seen some script which iterates through library view. Question about Serato Hot cues is completely separate. VDJ only saves hot cues to its own folder but Serato puts hot cues into the file itself.

I like the scripting functionality in VDJ but as an Ableton user, the basic mapping is such a pain if you're using something other than gear that has default maps. In theory, a Beatstep Pro should be able to control everything really easily. In reality, it's a bit of a mess. The software isn't really meant to be great for situations that aren't using certain types of controllers so I can see why it isn't a focus but I find all the DJ specific software a bit janky and limiting. While Traktor is a bit of a mess in some ways it still seems better suited for doing performances where you want to bring in other hardware. Just something basic like running a midi clock out or in seems very convoluted when that's been a standard for like 30 years. I get that it's not the point of this type of software, which is why programs like Ableton exist, still a weird thing though.
