A lot of stylists say blow dried and “product free” meaning they’ll get mad if you have moisturizer or leave in when you come

I blow dry my hair at home before I go to the stylist , and I moisturize it . This lady had the audacity to wipe off my hair with a paper towel and wanted to blow dry it AGAIN!!!… i said never mind. I will do my own hair . It’s been flourishing ever since 🤗

Yes to all these!! I haven’t had box braids in years because the last time I did my hair broke off so bad in the front. I believe it was because the braids were too night 😖 now I’m scared to let anyone else touch my hair lol. I’ve been doing my own hair for almost two years now.

My old Box braids were not protective.. but I found a stylist whose braid patterns goes really well with my hair I’m so lucky. And even then I only get my hair done by hair 1-2 times per year, the rest of the time I’m in twist.

I’m going on 2 months with my knotless braids this time around bc my life is a little hectic right now. I just got a little worried about my hair underneath the braids and looking at this videos I can calm down lol bc it seems like I’m doing everything right so far. I don’t know if you mentioned this in the video but also wear a braid bonnet to bed or sleep on a silk or satin pillow case to protect your hair.

My hair was very long an a few days ago i had about 5 inches cut off 😢 I had super bad mid-shaft splits several inches up my hair on about 50% of my hair strands. Ive been wearing box braids basically back to back for the past 8 months and i’m thinking the ends if my real hair were getting scorched when the braids were getting dipped in hot water. I’m really sad about this setback (especially since i thought i was protecting my hair by getting braids), but i’m happy to have learned this lesson so i wont repeat it in the future
@jaichanellie
@jaichanellie 2 жыл бұрын
Oh no!!!! I’m so sorry to hear that 😭 it definitely could’ve been the hot water damaging your ends, especially if your hair wasn’t completely tucked into the braiding hair. How often do you get your ends trimmed? That could also help so you don’t have to get so much length cut off at once. I definitely hear you about lesson learned, it’s happened to a lot of us 😩 But you know better now so you’ll definitely see better results! I wish you well on your hair journey 🌱

i have the opposite problem with keeping braids in too long im trying to get better at it but ill be thinking of taking them down at week three 😭 also, i braid my hair relatively smaller (not micro!) but maybe just a little bigger than your knotless braids. are smaller braids inherently more damaging? i know medium would probably be better for my hair but i love the look of smaller braids
@jaichanellie
@jaichanellie 2 жыл бұрын
LOL i just took my braids down at week three too 😂 Check my latest video! And I don’t think smaller braids are inherently worse, it all depends on the amount of hair being used and the weight it’s adding! I prefer smaller braids over larger ones as well so I know exactly what you mean.

I hate when I tell braider that I’m tender headed and they still braid too tight. I used to braid hair in a shop and I know how to make braids neat and last without being too tight. I think some of these hair stylists don’t wanna see us with edges and length. How many women are bald from their hairdressers let’s be honest. It’s hard finding a good stylist and it’s hard for me to do my own hair. Some are overpriced instead of making it affordable to keep return customers.
