Why does the second stack face the same direction? They wouldn't be able to get the part out of the mold.

maybe its because if its facing outward the second stack could fall off when moving the tool box or going up a stair case

The mold can be built with opposing slides or collapsible cores, but the complexity, size, and maintenance of the injection mold (and cost) go waaaaaay up.

I personally think this box should have had two separate lids (one for each packout system). That way you could remove one set of packout boxes and still open half the box rather than remove every single box just to get to the bottom.

The only problem is the seal. You'd either have to have a rib going down the center, this making it two individual bins, or have an overlapping seal. The third option would be to have one smaller lid/opening, similar to some of those coolers you see that have a quick access. The other problem I just thought of is that once you cut into it, you also degrade the ability to hold as much weight, the integrity is degraded.

The reason both stacks face the same direction is so that the cleats can hold all the weight when rolling and not put stress on the single plastic locking lever on each box
@raiderc9471
@raiderc9471 2 жыл бұрын
If someone really wanted to change the direction of the stacks, they could make a low profile adaptor plate that would change the cleat directions. Wouldn’t add too much height either, maybe 1/2” to 1”. But the plastic locking lever would need some reinforcement or somethin..

I was super impressed with the door kicking skill.😂 ive always modded my large totes so I can attach things like framing squares and levels to the inside of the lid. The easiest way Ive found is to drill small holes in the strenghtening cross ribs and attach those little black mini bungees at various locations so you can easily slide the levels and squares underneath the bungees. Works great for me..

I was looking at it in the store today. For 200 bones it just didn't feel right with all the other larger options right next to it. . I attached a few boxes in the store to the top of it and then I realized. Who would want to lift this. Maybe someone, Not me! Found myself buying the Dewalt box right next to it on sale for 75 bones for 64 gallon storage capacity. I'm all for Milwaukee innovation, this just didn't scratch the itch. I am still waiting for the rolling single or double bottom drawer packout system. Happy shopping coolgang.

On my triple stack it completely frustrated me. I now have the 3 drawer and 2 drawer. I made the foolish decision to have the small wheel dolly under it. On yards and fencing sites I can't get the drawers into the site easily with the smaller wheels. Yet the triple stack goes really well. So I just moved my drawer stack onto the big box where I keep my saws all, power saw and stapler. Everything I have is now cordless and this setup works good and my clear top larger organizer holds everything else I need.This seems to work better with the larger wheels. One haul and most of my tools are on site.
@syd_luna
@syd_luna 2 жыл бұрын
I think the reason why the one side doesn't face the opposite direction is that if you put any of the Packout Drawers there, in the opposite direction, and by accident when you life the tool chest up, and you didn't secure the drawers with the locking bar, the drawers will open up and spill your tools and/or materials behind you when you walk. I'm sure this was debated and thought of by the eggheads at Milwaukee.

1. It’s disorganized to find your stuff in one large box. And it’s a puzzle to put it all back in each time. 2. It limits you from taking only specific tools to a job site. Unlike grab and go smaller packout boxes with specific tools inside. 3. It’s crazy heavy to lift on and off your truck.

You hit on most of the bullet points I thought of too after checking this out at the depot myself. Also: even after you stack your 2 sets of boxes, one set faces in for some strange reason, making it difficult to get to that stack (why Milwaukee did you not design both stacks facing out?????).

From a design point of view, IF you had that tote loaded as your base packout box in the back of the truck with the handle facing the tailgate, and you ONLY needed to just take the smaller boxes into the jobsite, you wouldn't need to flip the larger tote 180 degrees to get the back row of packout boxes off. You could get to both stacks from the ground at the tailgate. Just my thought.

12:05. The reason they didn't make it so the other side doesn't come off the other direction is because they didn't want however much weight you have there being supported by just a clip. They wanted the cleats to be holding all the weight, and the clip just to secure the load against slipping out.

This guy is a character. I have a pack out system. The only reason I haven’t bought that big long box yet is because with other boxes attached to it it’s just going to be heavy and awkward going up stairs. Portability is key. A box that big isn’t that portable. And if one has a tool trailer you really don’t need every tool you own at once on the job. If I need a framing square or a sawzall I’ll just walk to the trailer and get it. My regular pack out system is good enough. All of my basic stuff is in there.

You know after watching the whole video at the end you mentioned something that I said to myself why did Milwaukee not rotate the way we stash one side of the box so that the lock is more accessible and after thinking about it the only reason I think it's made like that is because when you're rolling out The Big Box everything will be tilted towards the bottom if the first set of boxes was facing the opposite direction and for some reason you did not make sure it was fully locked the minute you pick it up or maybe while you're going up the stairs yes what everything will be flying down from that big box I think it's pretty obvious the way they made the box so they're both locks are facing upwards when you're rolling the big box with other packouts on top of it

I like the large rolling box, but when I was looking at it at Home Depot, it is so big, by the time I filled it with tools and so forth, it would almost require me to have a second person to lift it into the pickup truck. If I had a van or a truck with a lift gate, yes, it would be perfect, but with the regular rolling box, things can break down much smaller and easier to lift into truck.

The first attempt to correct it was another OVERPRICED solution was the packout hand truck. Now with the flaw you mentioned on the new box has made it another definite no unless it’s 50% off. I've used those husky boxes and they're a bit on the flimsy side. There's no way you could fill it to the top with even mediumly heavy items like drop cloths and paint cans. Might make a couple trips but would give out after being thrown in and out of a truck a couple times. The latches, walls, and lid are way better on the Milwaukee. If the cleats faced opposite directions, you could have 2+ sets of the packout drawers on the bottom while having access to them without the need to unstack the whole thing. In the current setup, if you have the front cleat loaded down and drawers on the rear cleat, you can’t open them unless you remove them from the stack or take off everything in the front cleat. I’m sure Milwaukee will resolve that.

Definitely dropped the ball with not flipping the mounting positions for the top stacks. I also think it would have been a slick idea to have the cover split so that you didn’t have to remove both stacks to access something in the bottom rolling tote.

I think they'd do better if the rolling chest was a DEEP, strong, single drawer. So you don't have to take OFF all the nonsense on top to get to it. Maybe a wheel that extends with the deep drawer to support it as it opens. Then again I also think the standard rolling base should also be a deep drawer. And I agree about the orientation. Imagine a double drawer bottom where you could put the 2 or three drawer system on top and get at Everything.

Facts! I think people who are new to packout want to start out with the 3 box set up and gradually acquire other boxes but this is definitely a great solution. I agree about the orientation of the boxes though lol Also I could be better priced. 229 is type steep not gonna lie. Somewhere at the 179 arena would be more fair in my opinion.

I bought it a few days ago. I like it in the fact that I can clip everything together on the top with my other Milwaukee packout accessories. And everything can roll together but at that point it gets super heavy and it takes a second person to throw it in the back of the truck. It's not that deep and it has slots for dividers but the dividers were not sold with it. I think it would have been a lot better for that price if I would have had the dividers to keep everything in its own compartment

While everything in the 3 smaller boxes could fit in the larger box, you couldn’t give one crew the appropriate tools that are currently distributed in the smaller boxes, and then give the other boxes to a second crew, without going through the larger box. I think the larger box is great for large tools like pipe wrenches or even knocked down saw horses. But to each his own. The boxes should be oriented to face the long side of the big box so you can access the smaller boxes at the same time.

@@dragonsofthunder I can understand selling your packout system/boxes if they weren’t working for you, nothing is more irritating than having boxes that don’t work for you personally due to size, depth, quality, etc., but what I don’t understand is why You chose to go from a quality tool line to an inferior tool line? I used to be a diehard, loyal as hell, team yellow fan also but then it would have been around 2000 or so +/- when their quality did a nose dive off a 14k foot mountain side and I had several new tools failing within months of purchase and warranty repairs were taking months due to parts on back order etc and I looked over and had 4 cordless red drills at the time that were 10+ years old and still using the original batteries but one and I already had the original sawzall ad some other misc red tools that were holding up extremely well for the abuse I was throwing at them. I replaced everything that was yellow/black with the comparable red tool and I have never been happier ! Especially with the last several years of new tool development they have come out with. I know how we use them affects how we view them to some degree and each one of us are different, but I just don’t think I will ever be able to go back to yellow ever again after all of the good experiences I’ve had with my red and all of the new tools they have been pumping out the past several years. It really doesn’t matter tho as long as your happy with your line, I’m happy with my line, and everyone else is happy with their ryobi’s! 😬 Take care man and be safe out there wherever your at

This Peckout piece it should have been wide enough an deep enough to put the dual compound mitersaw in or the table saw in to protect them during transportation to and from job sites. Biggest reason for me not having this is mainly, you never see this box in stores here in Oklahoma at least. 2nd I feel like this box hasn't really received the same amount of marketing has the other parts of the pack out system, such has the rack, the 2 wheeler dolly, and the large storage box. The other reason is despite the major convenience of being able to stack my other pack out cases on this 1 box I can buy 2-3 of the larger Husky boxes for the same price. I've had my 37 gal husky box like yours for over 8 years and it's still going strong despite sitting outside for most of that time so its hard to swallow that $229 price tag simply for a sake of a little added convenience. Now all that being said I'm a Milwaukee nut like Vince and I will inevitably buy this has well.

I literally just looked at these yesterday and I have to admit the Milwaukee, even if it has those conveniences for stacking, was substantially too small for the things that you would want a bigger box for. I mean we can all put our sawzall or circular saw in the big box of the stack. What you need in these boxes are usually longer and let's be honest, we are very concerned about our levels and don't want them damaged. I just don't see this box being big enough but the main reason why I would not buy it is because Home Depot said it right next to the husky. Me and my son did agree that the husky felt like it was not of the same quality, but it wasn't a bad quality! And at more than double the size, yes more than double, it was half the price. They're cutting their own legs out and having too many things against it. I would say an idea that could help it sell at that price, would be to put some type of organizing slots or dividers in there and at the price. Maybe dividing the box up into three things or better yet being able to divide it up into three but still have one side of it where I could put my longer item. But honestly, they just need a bigger box. And I know why they didn't do a bigger box, cuz that box alone is going to be heavy with their design in those bars. Can you imagine how heavy that box will be if it was the size of the husky? And with tools?
