Thank you so much! If I'm being completely honest I'm afraid that we picked a niche that not a whole lot of people are into. I'm thinking about turning this channel into a general photography channel focusing on the kinds of photography that I do at my studio. I'd be curious to know if you think that we should continue focusing solely on smash cake photography or if I should expand the scope of my channel? In either case I am taking a bit of time off in order to find a KZfaq editor. I simply can't take the time away from my business to create these videos. But never fear once I've found a capable editor I will be back to business as usual on this channel. Thanks for the comments and have a great day!

We got so busy at the studio I had to put the live stream on hold. But I will resurrect it in the slow season and consider Eastern Time at 7:30 p.m. on the weekdays. Thank you so much for your comment.

Amazing..looking forward to buy another lens.. sigma 35mm 1.4 or tamron 28-75mm f 2.8.. what u recommend for cake smash.. little torn between zoom and prime. . .f1.4 aperture is very limited use in most case. Also do some editing tutorial 😊

I'm torn as well. Primes are super sharp and I love them for senior portraits and headshots. But for smash cake photos zoom lenses make your life super easy because you can get tight shots without have to crawl all over the set light a spider monkey. So I would go with the 28-75. I own this lens and use it on almost every shoot. Very versatile.

AS U said not go below.1/200 Ss. I used sony a7iv but when I use 1/ 200 it gives me shadow on side.then I tried 1/ 160 and shadow gone. I use godox ms300 no hss. Could u tell me any settings I missing in sony alpha camera.. i haven't done any flash/ strobe settings in camera

That's a tough question to answer without knowing any of the specifics. I can tell you that the shutter speed shouldn't have any effect on the flash so I'm guessing that maybe you were next to a window? Anyway this issue has way to many variables for me to give you a solid answer without asking a million questions. I have a question, do you put anything on the floor on top of the cardboard background so it doesn't get dirty with cake?

We generally use seamless paper and cake stand. The child smashes the cake on the St Louis paper we simply cut it away from the roll wadded up and throw it the dumpster. On occasion we have a beautiful hardwood floor that we like to use. In that case we will clean the hardwood floor within an inch of its life with non-toxic organic cleaners and then we simply have a mop standing by for after the shoot.
