Just look at what China and the UK are doing with facial rec and public monitoring. Its ostensibly the same tech and process, but obviously there's a semantic difference. If the UK did what China does with their monitorings, that would be abuse. But to China, thats the stated purpose of the technology, so its not abuse for them. Just because some parties have scruples or morals does not mean that bad actors aren't working on the same issue, or that everyone in the chain has the same idea about scruples or morals. Especially if when the shoe drops, nobody takes any blame for damages.

Your not wrong. I just wish we could be more right, and choose cars with open hardware and software. But that isn't our choice. Given that we define ourselves by our choices and represent ourselves accordingly, its important to acknowledge when A choice you would have made was not an option due to choices someone else has made for you. If you watched 6:14 and that is your conclusion, you're delusional. Louis literally read source, NIssan's page. You thinking it's wrong to call out Louis for this is EXACTLY why Nico is singling him out. You hold him to a different standard. Him not being a journalist doesn't matter. He literally read that second column. Is there some restriction that blocked him from realizing that he didn't understand what that column meant and should scroll up and check what it's for? Specifically what additional resources was he lacking? What did he need experience in, in order to realize "I should look at what this column is for"? If I mention I went to petco for dog food, youtube now has documentation that I most likely own a pet, specifically a dog. If Alphabet/Google (or their lawyers) were really concerned over being sued over this information, they might have a section in their ToS that explains how they may at any time collect data on me that includes sexual/romantic orientation, pet preferences, shopping habits, and so on. That way, if I wanted to be a karen and sue KZfaq, claiming they unfairly tracked that I'm bisexual, I can't do it. Realistically I don't believe I'd have a case even without their ToS saying this, but it makes their defense that much stronger if it was in there.

Most companies keep recordings of their interaction with clients - and they usually state so - be it to check the quality of the support, or to cover their asses in case of a dispute.
